Gary Gensler Spoke About Crypto! The statement related to today’s House Financial Services hearing of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler spoke about crypto, has been published:

In crypto asset securities markets, there is no evidence that investors and issuers have less right to the protection of our securities laws. Congress could have said that the securities laws of 1933 or 1934 only applied to stocks and bonds.

However, Congress added a long list of more than 30 items to the definition of security, including the term “investment contract”. As I’ve said before, without any prejudice to any token, most crypto tokens probably meet the investment contract test. Given that most crypto tokens are subject to securities laws, it appears that most crypto intermediaries should also comply with securities laws.

27 See. Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, Suggesting Advanced Protection Rule for Registered Investment Advisors. 28 See. The Securities and Exchange Commission SEC, Proposes New Requirements to Address Risks Arising from Conflicts of Interest Associated with the Use of Predictive Data Analytics by Brokers-Dealers and Investment Advisors.

These laws have been in the books for decades. Sections 5, 15(a) and 17A(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 require intermediaries and clearing agents acting as a securities exchange, broker and dealer to be subject to the securities laws and to register or meet the requirements for a securities exchange.

Our Goal is to Protect Investors!

Considering the widespread non-compliance of this sector with securities laws, it is not surprising that we see many problems in these markets. We have seen this story before. This reminds us of what we experienced before the federal securities laws came into effect in the 1920s. Therefore, we have initiated a series of enforcement cases, some of which have been settled and some are in litigation, to hold those who are wrong accountable and to encourage investor protection.

The SEC also addressed crypto security markets by rule-making. We’ve issued a reopening bulletin reiterating the applicability of existing rules to platforms trading crypto asset securities, including “DeFi” systems. This version also provides additional information for systems to be includes in the new propose change definition.

Although our existing investment advisor custody rule already applies to crypto funds and securities, our proposal that updates it will cover all crypto assets and enhance the protections provided by qualified custodians. These are just two examples of the rules we suggest that touch crypto markets. I will be happy to discuss SEC’s work, but I will not comment on any active and ongoing lawsuit.

The Latest Status of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies! What are the prices of Bitcoin and popular altcoins as we start the new day? Is the uptrend continuing? Here are the prices for BTC and ETH!

Bitcoin made a correction down to the 26,800 level. So this corresponds to the 0.786 Fibonacci level. Currently, it’s struggling to break above this level and is moving sideways. If it fails to break through again, we might see a pullback towards 25,800. If it breaks and closes above this level, the next targets could be 27,800 and 28,200.

To better understand various scenarios in the sideways-moving crypto market, also we analyzed the Bitcoin chart based on past 4-hour candlestick patterns. Interestingly, we noticed that the candlestick patterns between July 24th and August 16th started to resemble each other. So we believe this could be an interesting starting point for predicting potential future movements.

In the coming days, if Bitcoin makes a move towards $27,500 and then experiences a sharp decline, it appears to resemble a pattern similar to that seen in the past. Around a date like September 10th, there is a possibility of approximately a 10% drop based on past candlestick similarities.

However, it’s important to note that this analysis is solely based on structural similarities.

Litecoin (LTC) is approaching a highly anticipated event known as halving, which has garnered much attention in the crypto community. The halving, which is scheduled to take place in less than 16 days, will reduce Litecoin’s mining rewards from 12.5 LTC to 6.25 LTC.

This event is considered a positive development by the LTC community and proof-of-work (PoW) consensus advocates as it is expected to control the token supply and potentially increase its value.

This halving, scheduled for August 2, will be the third halving in Litecoin history, with previous halvings occurring in 2015 and 2019. Not surprisingly, the event generated a significant amount of excitement and anticipation.

Data from on-chain analytics firm IntoTheBlock shows that search trends for Litecoin hit a new high each year. Upcoming Litecoin (LTC) halving is cited as one of the main factors driving the growing interest in the Litecoin network.

Adding to the halving buzz, Litecoin recently hit a significant milestone, surpassing 170 million transactions. The blockchain network proudly announced this achievement on Twitter, highlighting that it had processed 10 million transactions in seven weeks and over a million transactions in a week.

This milestone further solidifies Litecoin’s reputation as a reliable and robust blockchain. Litecoin, often referred to as “Digital Silver” versus Bitcoin’s “Digital Gold”, stands out as the only network that has been operating uninterruptedly for the past 11 years. This means that the network remains online without any significant interruptions during this time. Such uptime is unmatched in a crypto space where network failures and downtime are not uncommon.

You might also like: 5 Artificial Intelligence Crypto Projects Followed by Whales

However, despite the enthusiasm surrounding the halving, the latest data from CoinMarketCap shows that LTC has dropped 1.191% in the last 24 hours. Currently, the token is worth $91.38, a significant drop from the $104 it reached last week. With a market cap of $6.7 billion, LTC is currently the 12th largest cryptocurrency network.
