Funding Rate Will Now Be Calculated Every 2 Hours

Starting from April 16, 2025, at 2:30 PM UTC, Binance will begin calculating the funding rate for the USDⓈ-M AERGOUSDT Perpetual contract every two hours. The aim of this change is to protect investors against sudden price movements and ensure the smooth functioning of the system.

The new funding intervals (in UTC) are as follows:

• 16:00 → Maximum Funding Rate: +2.00% / -2.00%

• 18:00 → Maximum Funding Rate: +2.00% / -2.00%

• 20:00 → Maximum Funding Rate: +2.00% / -2.00%

• 22:00 → Maximum Funding Rate: +2.00% / -2.00%

This cycle will continue based on market conditions.

Why Was This Change Made?

Sudden price movements in crypto markets pose significant risks for both investors and platforms—especially in leveraged trading. That’s why Binance is increasing the frequency of funding rate calculations in high-volatility conditions, aiming to make the system more responsive.

More frequent updates to the funding rate will allow position costs to be adjusted more accurately and more often, helping to prevent potential imbalances in the system.

Additional Protective Measures May Also Be Activated

Binance also stated that it may take further protective measures if needed, in addition to increasing the funding rate frequency. These may include:

• Adjustments to maximum leverage levels

• Updates to margin requirements

• Modifications to funding rate components (interest, premium, cap rates)

• Changes to index price references

• Use of the last price protection mechanism in the Mark Price calculation

Such measures may be implemented without prior notice as part of Binance’s user protection framework.
