On the same day, spot Bitcoin ETFs also experienced a net inflow of $79.97 million, closing positive for the fourth consecutive day. BlackRock’s IBIT ETF was again the standout product of the day. Continued institutional inflows support price stability on the Bitcoin side as well.

During the same period, notable activity was observed in the Bitcoin spot ETF options market. As of July 28, the daily net open interest (delta) exceeded $215 million. Total nominal open interest reached $24.67 billion, while the call/put ratio remained at 1.96. Meanwhile, on July 29, total trading volume was $927 million, with BlackRock’s IBIT options dominating nearly the entire volume at $918 million. These figures reveal that institutional interest in Bitcoin ETFs is not limited to the spot market.

Supply-Demand Risk Increasing for Ethereum

Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan highlighted the growing interest in staking and tokenization use cases. According to him, this demand is boosting interest in Ethereum ETFs. Hougan predicts that next year, $20 billion worth of ETH demand could arise through ETFs and institutions.

However, Ethereum’s annual issuance is limited to only 800,000 ETH. This means demand could exceed supply by approximately seven times. The potential supply squeeze may exert upward pressure on Ethereum prices.

Institutional investor interest in both Ethereum and Bitcoin ETFs has surged rapidly in recent days. This trend could signal the start of a new institutional cycle in crypto assets.

In the United States, spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced a net inflow of 403 million dollars on the trading day of July 15, 2025. The largest fund inflow in this area was made by BlackRock. BlackRock’s IBIT fund alone received investments worth 416.35 million dollars. Additionally, VanEck’s HODL fund saw approximately 19 million dollars in net positive inflows.

On the other hand, some funds experienced outflows. Grayscale Mini Bitcoin Trust and Bitwise’s BITB funds also had small net inflows. However, Grayscale’s GBTC fund saw an outflow of 41.22 million dollars, Fidelity’s FBTC fund lost 23 million dollars, and ARK & 21Shares ARKB fund saw a 6.21 million dollar outflow.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs have cumulatively attracted a total net investment of 53.07 billion dollars. In the last nine trading days, these funds received 4.4 billion dollars in new investments. Since April, the total investment volume has reached around 17 billion dollars.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs attract institutional investors and corporate treasuries. The increasing inflows since April have strengthened Bitcoin’s position in the digital asset market. Large investment amounts from major funds like BlackRock indicate growing confidence in the market.

Stable Growth and Investment Volume in Ethereum ETFs

On the Ethereum side, the trend toward spot ETFs continues. On July 15, a net investment inflow of 259 million dollars was recorded. Ether funds received over 1 billion dollars in investments during the last four trading days. Thus, Ethereum ETFs attracted net positive investments for the eighth consecutive day.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin price is trading around 118,200 dollars at the time of this report. A slight pullback occurred from the all-time high of 123,000 dollars reached earlier in the week. However, the price maintains critical support levels.

LVRG Research Director Nick Ruck noted that lower-than-expected CPI data increases the likelihood of the FED cutting interest rates in September. This situation has led to expectations of increased Bitcoin demand.

Experienced investor Peter Brandt suggests that Ethereum (ETH) price is showing breakout signals. The shared chart points to a symmetrical triangle formation. This formation indicates that ETH may be preparing for a potential “moonshot” rally. Institutions like BlackRock and whales have noticed ETH’s strength despite market volatility. Additionally, Brandt notes that Ethereum has been consolidating for the past three weeks. This suggests the price is nearing a breakout.

Symmetrical Triangle and Bull Flag Signals

The symmetrical triangle does not provide a clear directional bias. However, considering the 50% surge between May 8-13, this formation is turning into a bull flag. A bull flag predicts the continuation of an uptrend. Brandt’s chart emphasizes that Ethereum’s tightening price structure is ready to explode.

Whales and Institutions’ Interest in ETH

Major institutions like BlackRock have started to recognize ETH’s potential. Whales are also turning to ETH amid recent market turbulence. Although Brandt was previously cautious about Ethereum, he now states that the long-term consolidation pattern could trigger a significant rally. In particular, his statement, “This consolidation pattern could support a moonshot,” is drawing investors’ attention.

If Peter Brandt’s bull flag pattern materializes, a decisive daily candlestick close above the flag’s upper trendline will be required. This move would confirm a bullish breakout, with the target calculated by adding the length of the rally before the flag to the flag’s base. According to Peter Brandt’s hints, the theoretical Ethereum price target would be $3,611.

On the other hand, on June 6, nine spot Ethereum ETFs saw a net inflow of 6,819 ETH ($17.3 million). BlackRock’s iShares ETF (IBIT) recorded the largest inflow with 6,356 ETH ($16.13 million), holding a total of 1,513,131 ETH ($4 billion). However, the Invesco Galaxy Ethereum ETF experienced an outflow of 543 ETH. Grayscale Ethereum Trust and Ethereum Mini Trust lost 78 ETH and 2 ETH, respectively. Other ETFs recorded zero inflows.

What Does Technical Analysis Say?

Ethereum (ETH) appears poised to finally break out of the bearish FVG zone it has been stuck in for days. If the daily close occurs above this zone, a strong rally toward $3,000 could begin after a retest. Today’s close is critical in this regard! However, if the level is not broken, the price will remain trapped in this zone, and up-and-down fluctuations will continue. Sharp moves could be seen this week; it’s worth paying attention to the close and volume.

The cryptocurrency market was once again shaken following a series of decisions by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on March 11, 2025. The regulatory body has postponed its rulings on a number of altcoin-based exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications. However, according to experts, these delays do not reduce the likelihood of approval within 2025. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart stated that the delays were “expected” and that approval prospects remain strong.

Details of the Postponements

The SEC has postponed decisions on several high-profile ETF applications, including Grayscale’s filings for Dogecoin (DOGE), XRP, Litecoin (LTC), and Cardano (ADA). Additionally, Canary Capital, Bitwise, and 21Shares have also seen delays in their XRP ETF applications.

The regulator further delayed decisions on Solana (SOL) ETFs submitted by 21Shares, Canary, and VanEck. The last of the altcoin-related ETF postponements was Canary Capital’s Litecoin (LTC) filing.

Other crypto ETF delays include in-kind creation and redemptions for BlackRock IBIT ETF, as well as Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin ETF (FBTC) and Fidelity Ethereum ETF (FETH). Additionally, 21Shares’ Core Ethereum ETF proposal to include staking has also been postponed.

New Applications and Market Race Intensify

Despite these delays, the SEC has acknowledged new filings, including Grayscale’s Hedera (HBAR) ETF and Bitwise’s updated Dogecoin (DOGE) filing. Moreover, on March 11, Franklin Templeton filed an S-1 Form for its own XRP ETF, further intensifying the altcoin ETF race.

Strong Approval Odds for 2025!

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart emphasized that these delays are part of standard procedure and should not raise concerns. He also noted that Paul Atkins has yet to be confirmed as the new SEC chair, which may have influenced the delay timeline.

In February, Seyffart and Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas published their approval probability estimates for Litecoin (LTC), Solana (SOL), XRP, and Dogecoin (DOGE) ETFs. According to their analysis, Litecoin (LTC) leads with a 90% chance of approval in 2025, followed by Dogecoin (DOGE) at 75%. Solana (SOL) has a 70% probability, while XRP holds a 65% chance of approval.

The analysts highlighted that these approval odds were below 5% before Donald Trump’s election victory in November. Since then, regulatory sentiment has shifted, significantly increasing the likelihood of ETF approvals. If the regulatory environment continues to improve in the US, these odds may rise even further.

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management company, explained in its new report why Bitcoin has a unique place in investment portfolios and reminded us of a famous quote by Warren Buffett. The report of the company, which manages approximately $10 trillion in assets, emphasized that Bitcoin has different risk and return factors than traditional asset classes. The report prepared by BlackRock Digital Assets Unit President Robbie Mitchnick and his team emphasized that Bitcoin is an attractive option for investors as a decentralized, fixed-supply and non-state-controlled asset.

The report stated that despite short-term fluctuations, they believe that Bitcoin has a low correlation with traditional assets in the long term. The company explained with examples that Bitcoin has recovered rapidly after sharp declines in global markets, and stated that these recoveries are due to Bitcoin’s basic features.

In this context, BlackRock also reminded Warren Buffett’s famous words: “The stock market is a tool for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.” The company stated that the Bitcoin market has a similar structure.

The report also stated that Bitcoin can be seen as a risky asset due to its volatility, but that Bitcoin’s risk and return elements are different from traditional assets. It was emphasized that this situation is due to factors such as Bitcoin’s lack of state control, its decentralized structure and its scarce supply. It was also stated that some investors began to see Bitcoin as a “flight to safety” tool during geopolitical events.

Might interest you: BlackRock’s Report: Bitcoin Shields Against Risks

According to BlackRock, Bitcoin’s fixed supply of 21 million units means that it cannot be easily devalued. In addition, thanks to its global and digital structure, Bitcoin can be transported anywhere in the world at almost zero cost and overcomes barriers to value transfer between political borders. Its decentralized and permissionless structure makes Bitcoin the world’s first truly open-access monetary system.

The report stated that although other cryptocurrencies have turned to different areas of use, Bitcoin still stands out as a global money alternative and a reliable scarcity tool, and that these features give Bitcoin a unique position in the crypto world.

The Spot Bitcoin ETF products by BlackRock and Grayscale have seen further institutional adoption, with Iowa-based City State Bank revealing its exposure to these ETFs in its recent 13F filing dated July 8, 2024.

City State Bank, known for offering investment management services, has disclosed its investment in Bitcoin (BTC) through exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The bank reported the purchase of 33 units of the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) during the second quarter, marking its growing interest in the crypto market. This move aligns with a broader trend of traditional financial institutions diversifying into digital assets.

Might interest you: BlackRock’s Spot Bitcoin ETF Surpasses 300,000 BTC in Assets Under Management

In addition to its new position in the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust, City State Bank has maintained its holdings in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). The bank acquired 50 units of GBTC in the first quarter of 2024 and has chosen to retain this investment, signaling sustained confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term potential.

The BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust and the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust are prominent BTC ETFs that provide investors with exposure to Bitcoin without the complexities of direct crypto ownership. The adoption of these ETFs by traditional institutions like City State Bank highlights the increasing acceptance of Bitcoin as a legitimate asset class within mainstream finance.

City State Bank’s strategic investments come amid heightened volatility in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Last week, another significant entity, the Bank of New Hampshire (BNH), also revealed its exposure to Bitcoin ETFs in an SEC filing dated July 1, 2024.

The growing interest from traditional financial institutions suggests a maturing market and increasing confidence in the stability and potential of digital assets. As more banks and financial entities invest in Bitcoin ETFs, it could lead to greater mainstream adoption and potentially drive further growth in the cryptocurrency market.

The continued investment from traditional institutions may encourage other financial entities to consider similar moves, fostering a broader acceptance and integration of digital assets into the conventional financial system. This trend could also prompt regulatory bodies to develop clearer guidelines and frameworks to support the growing intersection between traditional finance and cryptocurrency investments.

In particular, on May 21, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) posted a spectacular $290 million inflow, which can be regarded as a turning point for the fund. This single-day inflow is even higher than the net fund that the fund has received in the last 21 trading days. Preliminary information from Farside Investors indicates that the IBIT contributed to 95% of the total inflow into US spot Bitcoin ETFs on Tuesday, with over $300 million in net inflow.

Reversing a Six-Week Trend

This is the largest amount of net fund creation for BlackRock’s ETF since April 5, and only the second week in the past six that has seen any inflows at all. In total, spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted more than $1 billion in the past four trading sessions on the back of a shaky Bitcoin rally. So far, BlackRock has managed to gather $16bln in inflows since its launch, ranking it second only to Grayscale’s GBTC with $20bln AUM.

This has placed BlackRock firmly on the map as a significant player in the Bitcoin ETF market through IBIT inflows. For instance, Grayscale’s GBTC product had no inflows on May 21 and has gone five days straight without outflows, after experiencing outflows for the previous four months. It has attracted $72.5 billion worth of inflows in the past five days.

Market Reactions and Competitor Performance

Another important point is that while BlackRock’s IBIT took place, other Bitcoin ETFs had mixed outcomes. The VanEck Bitcoin Trust ETF (HODL) revealed that there was a fund outflow of $5.9 million, and the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) outflow of $4.2 million. On the other hand, the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) achieved a rather tiny inflow of $25.15 million while the rest of the funds had no change.

This increased interest in Bitcoin ETFs has been prompted by the recent upsurge in BTC prices by 12 percent in the past one week. Bitcoin reached $71,600 on May 21, which is the highest it has been in the last six weeks, but it slightly fell to $69,444 at the beginning of May 22 trading session. The expectation of spot Ethereum ETFs to be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States has also contributed to the crypto market’s rally this week.

The US state of Wisconsin purchased 94,562 shares of BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) fund in the first quarter of this year. The value of these shares is approximately $100 million.

This purchase by the state of Wisconsin was included in the quarterly 13F report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Tuesday. Wisconsin became the first state to announce bitcoin purchasing. Additionally, the state’s investment board purchased approximately $64 million worth of shares in Grayscale’s Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) fund.

Eric Balchunas, senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, said in a post on the , because institutions tend to move in packs.”

The investment board, also known as SWIB, was founded in 1951 and currently manages more than $156 billion in assets. It manages the assets of the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), State Investment Fund (SIF) and other state trust funds.

The announcement comes on the heels of a March 15 deadline for institutional investment managers managing at least $100 million in assets to declare their quarterly holdings. The market is watching these announcements closely to see if major traditional financial funds invest in bitcoin ETFs that launched earlier in the year.

Bitcoin rose 1% to $61,957 after this news, but fell 1.7% in the last 24 hours with higher-than-expected inflation data announced in the US morning.
