This delay impacts Grayscale’s plans to list spot crypto ETFs on the NYSE Arca exchange. Meanwhile, the SEC has initiated a public comment period for BlackRock’s in-kind Bitcoin ETF redemption model. Polymarket estimates an 82% likelihood of Solana ETF approval and an 80% chance for Litecoin ETF by December 31, 2025.

BlackRock’s $5.5 million position in iShares Bitcoin Trust is minimal compared to other spot Bitcoin ETF providers. Bitcoin is nearly 15 years old, and more firms and brands are embracing it as payment.

Bitcoin is purposely scarce. People want to utilize it because it’s a reliable store of value. Bitcoin is becoming more popular as an alternative currency as it is used less for daily transactions.

Funds, VCs, and angel investors strategically invest in startups. Startups are increasingly seeking bitcoin-to-fiat currency conversion services, according to market investors.

Additionally, more significant institutional investors are buying bitcoin as an alternative investment. To mitigate market volatility, they want to diversify their portfolios and discover profits.

According to sources, BlackRock filed its 13F. The filing measures institutional Bitcoin ETF interest. The corporation reported its moderate $5.5 million IBIT Bitcoin ETF exposure in its filing.

Related: Analyzing the Impact of Zero Inflows on BlackRock’s IBIT

Other SEC-approved issuers’ major investments are very different from this offering.

With $86 million, BraceBridge is the largest IBIT holder. Crypto specialists are suspicious about BlackRock’s modest IBIT holding.

JPMorgan disclosed its Bitcoin ETF interests. The firm’s portfolio includes 11,000 IBIT shares worth $445,170 and 797 worth $32,255. After Wells Fargo announced its spot Bitcoin ETF exposure, the market was optimistic.

Digital Currency Investment is Rising: BlackRock Leads the Way

BlackRock is slowly recovering with $14.2 million, indicating investor trust in the IBIT ETF. In general, rising ETF holdings have not boosted Bitcoin prices.

ETF buying pressure may decrease with the approval of more financial instruments using digital assets, such as the Ethereum ETF. Licensing and allowing more fiat for bitcoin payment and exchange platforms could boost bitcoin availability outside existing brokerages.

Growing numbers of Web3 investors are embracing crypto assets to fund innovative firms. BTC and other stablecoins have funded several amazing projects, and we may expect more.

Bitcoin market circulation must be adequate to do this. These requirements necessitate a greater choice of financial products with multiple purchase methods and digital currency support. Increased availability to methods of exchange should help investors and startups using BTC for funding thrive.

Importantly, BlackRock and other large financial firms are interested in this concept. Their bitcoin ETFs demonstrate the growing demand for digital currency investment products.

Since its start on January 11th, IBIT has steadily drawn investments totaling millions of dollars every single day, amassing approximately $15.5 billion in just seventy-one days. On April 24, BlackRock’s inflow streak came to an end when it registered zero dollars in inflows.

There was a dry stretch for the majority of the other Bitcoin ETF participants as well. Out of the eleven Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) established in the US, just two—ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) and Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC)—received inflows of over $5 million and $4.2 million, respectively.

Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC) was also bleeding money. On April 24, GBTC detected outflows of $130.4 million. Consequently, GBTC removed $120.6 million from the spot Bitcoin ETFs that day. While this is an unprecedented situation for IBIT, it is typical for other ETFs to experience similar challenges. For instance, in the past two weeks, Fidelity’s FBTC has had three days with zero inflows.

As of this writing, the U.S. Bitcoin ETF market holds a total value of $12.3 billion in Bitcoin. Nevertheless, the outflows from GBTC have somewhat cancelled out the inflows from the other nine Bitcoin ETFs. Withdrawals from GBTC have surpassed $17 billion as of January 11th. There are a number of players in the Bitcoin ETF market that are also attempting to get Ether ETFs into the US market. The SEC, however, has lately put off making decisions on whether or not to approve a number of them.

“The Commission believes it is necessary to establish a longer timeframe to decide whether to approve or reject the proposed rule change. This will allow it ample time to review the proposed rule change, as amended by Amendment No. 1,” the agency stated in its April 23 notice. A 60-day extension has been granted to June 23 for the SEC’s determination on Grayscale’s request to convert their ETH Trust to a spot ETH exchange-traded product on NYSE Arca.

BlackRock’s spot fund saw an addition of nearly 5,000 bitcoins on Friday, bringing its total holdings to 195,985 tokens.

In less than two months since its inception, the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) has accumulated more bitcoin (BTC) than MicroStrategy (MSTR).

According to the latest disclosure from the fund, IBIT held 195,985 bitcoin as of Friday, following another day of substantial inflows. Meanwhile, recent public statements from MicroStrategy indicate that the company held 193,000 tokens as of Feb. 26.

It’s plausible that MicroStrategy has augmented its total holdings since then, given that the company recently announced a $700 million capital raise aimed at purchasing more bitcoin.

Since the launch of spot ETFs on Jan. 11, BlackRock’s IBIT has consistently added hundreds of millions of dollars worth of bitcoin daily, solidifying its position as the largest among the new spot products (excluding the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, which was converted from a closed-end fund).

Following IBIT, Grayscale’s GBTC holds the next spot, having shed more than 200,000 bitcoin since the inception of spot products but still retaining approximately 400,000 tokens.

The significant demand for the new spot ETFs remains the driving force behind bitcoin’s price surge of over 60% this year. The cryptocurrency breached $70,000 for the first time ever on Friday morning, reaching a new all-time high of $70,136, according to data from CoinDesk Indices. At the time of writing, bitcoin was trading just below the $70,000 mark.
