Speaking at the Crypto Polo event in Dubai, Madrid emphasized the importance of allowing players to move seamlessly between games using a single wallet.

Madrid stated:

“Our vision is still very clear. You should be able to play any game using one wallet that combines all your collected and earned utilities.”

Web3 Gaming Continues to Grow

Despite a broader market slowdown, Madrid affirmed that the Web3 gaming sector is still booming. The executive highlighted that tools and infrastructure for game development have become much more accessible over the past two years.

“I feel that the tools to create games have become more accessible. Looking at the number of games developed on gaming platforms in the last two years, the sector is still booming,” Madrid said.

He also pointed out that a single breakout game could serve as the catalyst for broader Web3 adoption in gaming.

NFT Utility Is Maturing

The Sandbox COO Sebastien Borget noted that the NFT space is witnessing a shift toward more functional applications. Borget stated that the industry is moving away from NFTs being used solely for fundraising or profile pictures, towards offering real utility.

Borget added:

“At The Sandbox, we continue to see high demand for virtual land, avatars, and NFT collections like Jurassic World, because they can be used directly across the game.”

A savvy investor made millions of dollars in just a few days by correctly reading the price movements of Bitcoin.

According to Lookonchain data: A Bitcoin whale withdrew 767 Bitcoin worth $45.44 million from the Coinbase exchange on May 3 when the Bitcoin price fell to $59,226.

Bitcoin’s price started to recover and rise again towards the weekend, partly due to the disappointing US economic data released on Friday.

Seizing the opportunity for Bitcoin to rise above $63,000, the investor transferred 767 Bitcoin to the Binance exchange at night. The value of these Bitcoins at the time of the transaction was $48.46 million. Thus, the wallet owner managed to make a profit of around $3 million in a few days.

Coinbase shares remain tied to the lawsuit with the SEC. The overall crypto industry health plays an important role for the stock’s price. Oppenheimer analyst Owen Lau:

Coinbase’s stock price could experience fluctuations in the near term due to its ongoing litigation with the United States securities regulator and the expected decline in the price of Bitcoin.

The ongoing legal uncertainty surrounding Coinbase’s lawsuit with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over alleged violations of security laws means that its shares are potentially priced in right now. At $125 a share, some price fluctuations are expected in the near future.

However, alongside this talk, Bloomberg analyst Elliot Stein recently expressed optimism that Coinbase’s lawsuit against the US regulator will be dismissed outright. He predicted that there is a 70% chance that Coinbase shares and the exchange will emerge unscathed from the legal proceedings.

Lau had a very clear basis for his statements. Coinbase shares have continued to decline by about 28% over the last 30 days. However, if we broaden our perspective even more and look at the last 3 months, the stock has increased by around 67%. Lau attributes this rise to the ETFs approved by the SEC.

On the Bitcoin front, the BTC band also fell nearly 11% following the SEC spot ETF approval. As for Bitcoin’s price, Lau predicts that it will similarly face short-term price fluctuations. “In the near term, I think there will be a downward momentum in Bitcoin until the next catalyst,” Lau said, adding a little bitcoin commentary to his statement.

On January 23, Cointelegraph reported that JPMorgan also downgraded Coinbase shares to an “underweight rating,” citing Bitcoin’s falling price and the listing of spot Bitcoin ETF shares.

Wrong ETF News Cost 100 Million Dollars! The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has not officially approved a spot Bitcoin ETF yet. However, there were rumors today on X that the SEC had approved BlackRock‘s Bitcoin spot ETF application, causing significant speculation.

This unconfirmed development seems to be the beginning of the eagerly awaited bull season, and the Bitcoin price suddenly rose to the $30,000 mark. However, this hype lasted short and the BTC‘s value declined back to the $28,000 level.

Market experts agree SEC will not reject the spot Bitcoin ETF application of a financial giant like BlackRock easily. According to the rumors, SEC had approved a Bitcoin spot ETF. However, there was no information on this rumor on the official channels of both SEC and Nasdaq. The definitive response came from BlackRock: “Our ETF application is still being reviewed by the SEC.”

Eric Balchunas, a senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, stated that the source of this rumor was Cointelegraph. The news was also quickly shared by media outlets like Reuters, leading to a sudden rise in the BTC price.

Wrong ETF News!

A new statement from Cointelegraph confirms that the previous rumor led to misinterpretation. Here is the updated version of the statement:

“We apologize for causing misunderstanding about the BlackRock ETF application. Our internal audits continue and we are preparing to share our findings with the public.”

The speculations caused Bitcoin’s price to suddenly rise to the $30,000 level and this led to the liquidation of a fund of about $100 million in the market. About $70 million of this amount was loss by investors in their short positions.

It is not yet clear whether the ETF rumor is a planned show or a misunderstanding. However, such incidents often occur in the market, and speculations are exist to attract attention and sensitivity of investors. Such incidents can affect market participants and while some can gain greatly, others can suffer significant losses.
