Ethereum core developer Federico Carrone, known as “Fede’s Intern” on X, announced that he was released after being detained in Turkey for 24 hours over alleged links to an Ethereum privacy protocol.

Detention and Allegations Against the Ethereum Developer

Carrone stated that Turkey’s Minister of Internal Affairs accused him of “helping others misuse Ethereum.” He believes this is connected to a January 2022 research paper analyzing user privacy on Ethereum and Tornado Cash. “We never helped anyone engage in illegal activity; it was purely research on mixers and their properties,” he said.

Freedom Through Global Support

Carrone shared that early on, he thought things would go badly after being told his phone would be confiscated and he wouldn’t be able to speak to anyone. However, friends from the UAE, UK, US, Europe, Argentina, and even the Catholic Church stepped in, contacting senior Turkish officials to help secure his release. Members of the Solana ecosystem also offered assistance.

Legal Process Still Ongoing

Carrone said he is currently in Europe but the case is still ongoing. His Turkish lawyer is working on his defense, and he noted, “If necessary, once things are clarified, I will return to clear my name.”

Ethereum Support for Storm’s Case

Following his experience, Carrone donated $500,000 worth of Ether to support the legal defense of Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm. “Roman’s defense is important because developers need to know they can push innovation forward and that the community will stand behind them,” he said.

The highly anticipated Producer Price Index (PPI) data regarding the U.S. economy has been released. The figures for June 2025 came in generally below market expectations. The slowdown in inflation on the producer side is being interpreted as a significant signal for the Fed’s interest rate policy.

U.S. Annual PPI Falls Short of Expectations at 2.3%

The annual PPI for June was announced at 2.3%, below the expected 2.5%. The previous figure stood at 2.7%. This decline indicates easing price pressure at the producer level.

U.S. Monthly PPI Drops to Zero

The monthly PPI came in at 0.0%, significantly below the 0.2% expectation. This figure was 0.3% in May, indicating a noticeable pause in inflation on the producer side.

Surprise Decline in Core PPI

Excluding volatile items like energy and food, the Core PPI also showed weakness:

Annual Core PPI: 2.6% (Expected: 2.7% / Previous: 3.2%)

Monthly Core PPI: 0.0% (Expected: 0.2% / Previous: 0.4%)

These declines indicate that core inflation is also slowing. Given that core data often has a more direct impact on Fed decisions, this development is particularly noteworthy.

Impact on Crypto and Financial Markets

In the markets, weaker inflation data may be interpreted as a sign that the Fed could start cutting rates sooner than expected. This could have a positive effect on bitcoin and other altcoins in particular.

In fact, CPI data released in recent weeks also came in below expectations. Now, weak signals from the PPI side suggest that overall inflationary pressure is easing.

Risk assets, in particular, are highly sensitive to rate cut signals. As such, a short-term recovery may be seen in both equity markets and the crypto market.

The chart showed that ENA started the week at around $0.6, swiftly rising to over $0.8 by the 2nd of April. By the end of April 3rd, Ethena managed to cross over $1 for the first time and closed the day above it.

What makes Ethena one of the most successful crypto currencies is the significant surge in volume accompanying this price level, soaring to over $2 billion.

By the weekend, it managed to renew the success it made on April 3 by reaching $1.25, then closing the week with $1.17.

With a current market capitalization of $1,580,701, it has also shown the same success, which makes it one of the most successful crypto currencies of the week.

Core(CORE) couldn’t Sustain its Success as Ethena

Although Core couldn’t sustain its success over the weekend as Ethena did, it managed to make its investors happy at the start of the week.

Core started the week with a downfall to $2.55, then climbing up to $4.01. Volume also increased from $470 million to $660 million, nearly increasing by $200 million.

Despite its downfall over the weekend, it settled its place as one of the successful coins of the week.

Pendle(PENDLE), Lived the Core’s Fate Reversely

In spite of starting the week with a strong downtrend, by the end of the week, Pendle managed to satisfy its asset holders greatly.

Pendle started the week with a price of $5.66, and it continued its fall to $4.7 on April 3rd. Within a day, it managed to surge up to $6.4.

By the end of the week, Pendle managed to see $7.2 and managed to increase its volume by $100M, securing a place as one of the most profitable coins of the week.

These three currencies are the ones that can be labeled as one of the most successful currencies of the week. It shouldn’t be forgotten that prices can shift rapidly because of the volatile nature of the market.
