In the cryptocurrency world, wallets have become indispensable tools for users to manage their assets. In this context, THORWallet (TITN) is an unmanaged wallet designed for cross-chain transactions, staking, and crypto asset management. THORWallet uses blockchain for secure transactions, offers multi-signature capabilities, and provides a card that makes cryptocurrencies usable for global spending.

Cypher (CYPR) is an innovative blockchain protocol designed as a Web3 banking gateway for the digital age. Built on Base Chain, Cypher offers an open economic alternative to traditional credit card points and airline miles. It enables crypto management and staking across 18+ Ethereum, Tron, and Cosmos chains. This article explores what Cypher (CYPR) is, how it works, and the opportunities it provides in detail.

What is Cypher (CYPR)?

Cypher is a Web3 banking platform where users can manage 500+ tokens across 18+ EVM and Cosmos chains and make payments using virtual and physical Cypher Cards. It supports payments at over 40 million online and offline merchants with non-custodial wallets. Operating as a non-custodial crypto card product for over three years, Cypher introduces the CYPR protocol to create a rewarding ecosystem. Running on Base Chain, this protocol connects consumer behavior to on-chain governance with a transparent, community-driven reward system. The $CYPR token, with a fixed 1 billion supply, is used for governance and rewards.

Purpose of Cypher (CYPR)

Cypher addresses the opacity, centralized control, and limited redemption value of traditional reward systems. By linking consumer behavior to protocol mechanics, it rewards users through spending and governance. Merchants compete for user attention with better services and strategic incentives, creating a dynamic marketplace. $CYPR tokens are used for spending rewards, governance, and additional incentives, fostering a flywheel between brands, influencers, AI agents, and crypto card users. Long-term sustainability is ensured through a fixed supply, decaying emissions, and the low-cost Base Chain.

How Does Cypher (CYPR) Work?

Cypher operates through spending-based rewards, a referral system, and governance:

Flywheel Economic Model:

Spending → Earn $CYPR: Users earn $CYPR tokens by spending within the Cypher ecosystem.

$CYPR → Lock → Vote → Direct Emissions → Additional Rewards: Locking $CYPR (veCYPR) grants voting power to direct merchant emissions and earn extra rewards.

Merchants → Add Bribes → Incentivize Voting: Merchants offer bribes (USDC, ETH, etc.) to attract votes; only voters receive bribe shares.

DeFi Protocols → Provide Liquidity → Enhance $CYPR Utility: As $CYPR demand grows, DeFi liquidity providers deepen markets, supporting staking and yield farming.

Epoch Structure:

Duration: 2-week cycles balance voting and reward distribution.

Voting Period: veCYPR holders determine merchant reward allocations; votes are locked until the epoch ends.

Distribution: Spending and referral rewards are distributed based on votes and spending.

Vote-Escrow (veCYPR):

Maximum 2-year lock; voting power proportional to lock duration.

Lifetime Lock: Constant voting power, cancelable (converts to 2-year decaying lock).

Voting Power: (Locked Amount / Max Lock Duration) × Lock Duration; decays linearly.

Spending Rewards:

Base Rewards: All users earn rewards proportional to spending; Premium users receive higher multipliers.

Boosted Rewards: Merchants with more votes receive larger reward pools, distributed by user spending.

Referral Rewards:

New users are rewarded on their first qualifying spend; rewards split between referrer and referee.

Enhanced referral rewards go to voters whose referees spend at supported merchants.

Bribe Mechanism:

Merchants offer bribes to attract votes; only veCYPR holders receive shares.

Transparent, offered in various tokens (USDC, ETH); distributed by voting power.

Technical Infrastructure:

Base Chain enables low-cost, scalable transactions.

Chaos Labs Edge (primary) and Pyth Network (secondary) oracles; transitioning to pull model in April 2025.

MrSablier open-source Rust Keepers manage liquidations and automated orders.

Cypher (CYPR) Use Cases

Cypher is used for:

Crypto Spending: Payments at 40M+ merchants with Cypher Card.

Governance: $CYPR for directing emissions and DAO voting.

Rewards: Earn $CYPR through spending and referrals.

Business Solutions: Team expense management and accounting integration with Gnosis Safe or Ledger.

Usage Steps:

Obtain a Cypher Card and load it with 500+ tokens.

Connect a wallet for online/offline payments.

Stake/lock $CYPR for governance participation.

Invite new users via referrals to earn rewards.

Advantages of Cypher (CYPR)

Transparency: Open reward system, no centralized control.

User Control: veCYPR enables governance and reward direction.

Economic Returns: 100% revenue sharing, spending, and bribe rewards.

Sustainability: Fixed supply, decaying emissions.

Accessibility: 18+ chains, 500+ tokens, 40M+ merchants.

Business Solutions: Web3-compatible tools for team expenses.

Risks of Cypher (CYPR)

Centralization: Team controls vesting tokens initially.

Market Volatility: $CYPR demand may be speculative.

Regulation: Crypto cards and reward systems carry regulatory risks.

Cypher (CYPR) Tokenomics

Total Supply: 1,000,000,000 $CYPR (fixed, non-inflationary).

Distribution:

Protocol Spend/Referral Incentive: 35% (20-year emission)

Treasury: 25%

Past Investors: 15.41% (12-month lock, 3-year linear vesting)

Team: 10% (12-month lock, 3-year linear vesting)

Airdrop: 8.5% (genesis distribution to existing users)

Community Incentives: 5%

Advisors: 1.09%

Hong Kong-based fintech company RedotPay has launched its crypto-backed payment cards in South Korea, challenging the country’s traditional payment infrastructure. Thanks to Visa integration, Korean users can now perform real-time stablecoin transactions.

RedotPay’s Move into South Korea

Founded in 2023, RedotPay drew attention with the launch of its crypto card program in late 2024. In February 2025, the company accelerated its international crypto payment expansion through a partnership with Visa and BIN sponsor StraitsX. As of today, RedotPay serves more than 4 million users worldwide.

The cards, now available in South Korea, can be obtained as either virtual or physical. Virtual cards are priced at $10, while physical cards cost $100. The registration process only requires name, address, and ID verification.

Social media users note the cards are easily accessible. One user on X stated, “There’s no need for a physical card—you can start using it right away on your smartphone after verifying your identity.”

Real-Time Payments with Bitcoin and USDT

RedotPay cards support major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, along with stablecoins such as USDC and USDt. Users can load their cards via networks like Solana, Polygon, BSC, Tron, and Arbitrum.

One of the standout features is the instant stablecoin payment and refund system. When a purchase is made, stablecoins are instantly deducted from the user’s wallet. If the transaction is canceled, refunds in USDC or USDT are processed within minutes.

Compatible with Apple Pay

In Seoul, RedotPay offers Apple Pay compatibility, providing a key advantage. Since Apple Pay is currently limited to Hyundai Card users in South Korea, this compatibility could significantly boost RedotPay’s competitive edge.

Crypto Adoption on the Political Agenda

More than 16 million people in South Korea hold cryptocurrency, making it a central issue in the political landscape. Ahead of the 2025 presidential elections, major parties are unveiling crypto-friendly policies.

On May 6, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung pledged to approve spot crypto ETFs if elected. In late April, the ruling People Power Party also made promises including spot ETF approval, stablecoin regulation, and lifting the one-exchange-one-bank rule.

RedotPay’s entry into the Korean market during this period is seen as a major step forward for users embracing the crypto ecosystem.

Crypto wallet provider MetaMask has announced a new crypto card that allows users to spend funds directly from their self-custodied wallets. The card is backed by Mastercard and developed in partnership with CompoSecure and Baanx.

The product executes transactions using smart contracts on the Linea network, a layer-2 solution built on Ethereum, with a processing speed of under five seconds.

A New Alternative to Centralized Exchanges

The card enters a competitive field dominated by centralized exchanges such as Binance, Bybit, Coinbase, and Crypto.com, which already offer crypto debit cards. However, MetaMask emphasizes the self-custody model, positioning its card as a safer option following high-profile breaches.

You Might Be Interested In: Elon Musk Talks About the Name of a New Memecoin!

Notably, Bybit was hacked for $1.4 billion in February 2025, a breach that sparked renewed scrutiny of centralized platforms’ security.

Card Uses Smart Contracts for Real-World Spending

Crypto payments have become one of the fastest-growing applications of digital assets in 2025. High-end brands like Dorsia have started accepting crypto, and apps like Signal are reportedly exploring Bitcoin payments between users.

In New York, a proposed bill could soon legalize the use of cryptocurrencies for state-level payments, indicating growing institutional adoption of BTC and stablecoins.

Though MetaMask has faced waning interest — with just $289,312 in fee revenue reported for the week of April 14 — the launch of its new card could reignite user engagement.

The Avalanche Foundation has launched the highly anticipated Avalanche Card, a Visa credit card that allows users to make purchases using their cryptocurrency.
Avalanche Foundation Collaborates with Rain for Card Development

The Avalanche Foundation, the non-profit supporting the development of the Avalanche blockchain, announced that its Avalanche Card is now live and ready for use.
This launch marks a significant step in the integration of cryptocurrency with traditional financial technologies. While other teams have also released credit cards tied to cryptocurrency holdings, the Avalanche Card highlights the growing fusion of crypto and traditional finance.

User Sign-Ups Accelerate in Multiple Regions

In October, the Avalanche Foundation revealed plans to target user sign-ups in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The leading fiat-crypto payment gateway, Alchemy Pay, is expanding spending options in the Hong Kong region by adding new card BINs for its Crypto Virtual Card, offering users more advantages. The new “515783” BIN number facilitates transactions on various platforms using Alchemy Pay’s mini-app Crypto Card, including ChatGPT Plus, Aliexpress, Netflix, Twitter, Facebook, Apple Store, and Google Pay.

Bank Identification Numbers (BINs) comprise the first 6 to 8 digits of a card number and provide information about the card’s network, type, and issuing bank. The newly added BIN numbers enhance the capabilities of crypto cards, providing support for a broader range of payments and increasing transaction success rates.

The review of policies related to virtual asset activities by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on December 22 indicates developments in the crypto space. In an environment where entities like Alchemy Pay are preparing for the adoption of spot crypto ETFs in Hong Kong, this situation may offer more opportunities for interaction and adoption of fiat-crypto payment gateways.

Alchemy Pay is actively involved in the application process for the Money Service Operator (MSO) license and Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) in Hong Kong, aligning its development with current trends. Taking steps in strategic partnerships and regulatory compliance, Alchemy Pay continues its commitment to providing users with a fast, simple, and user-friendly solution for accessing crypto assets within the regulatory framework.

In particular, the issuance of guidelines by the Hong Kong government regarding cryptocurrencies and the SFC’s initiation of processing license requests for crypto trading platforms support Alchemy Pay’s rapid integration and growth in the evolving crypto market in this region. These developments create a foundation for Hong Kong, a global financial center, to strengthen its leading position in crypto payments and financial technology.

All these factors support Alchemy Pay’s mission to offer its users in Hong Kong broader and secure payment options during a period when the company continues to strengthen its leadership in the crypto payment industry by focusing on global policy developments.
