Backpack Exchange has quietly launched a closed beta of its cross-margined prediction markets, signaling a structural shift in how traders can deploy capital across bets and trading products. The feature, called Unified Prediction Portfolio, arrives as prediction markets gain visibility — but also as their inefficiencies become harder to ignore.

The core issue has never been prediction accuracy alone. In most prediction markets, capital gets locked until an event resolves, sitting idle while opportunities elsewhere disappear. Even when traders have an edge, the opportunity cost of frozen capital often erodes returns. Backpack’s new model is explicitly designed to target that inefficiency.

Capital No Longer Sits Idle

Prediction markets have historically forced traders into a passive posture. Once a position is opened, capital is trapped. Backpack’s Unified Prediction Portfolio breaks that constraint by allowing crypto capital to remain productive across multiple products at the same time.

Through cross-margining and cross-collateralization, a single balance can support prediction positions alongside spot trades, margin trading, perpetual futures, and crypto lending. Capital no longer waits for outcomes — it moves.

One Margin Account, Built Natively

A critical distinction Backpack emphasizes is that this system is not a wrapper built on top of Kalshi, Polymarket, or any external prediction platform. Prediction markets are fully native to Backpack’s exchange infrastructure, priced and managed within its own risk engine.

In practice, this allows a workflow rarely possible in prediction markets. A trader can quote on a price prediction, get filled, and immediately hedge that exposure using perpetual futures — all within the same margin account. Predictions stop being isolated bets and start behaving like tradeable risk components.

Prediction Markets Turn Active, Not Passive

By embedding predictions into a unified trading stack, Backpack challenges the traditional wait-and-see model. Traders are no longer forced to hold static positions until resolution. Risk can be adjusted dynamically as market conditions change.

This structure effectively pulls prediction markets closer to derivatives trading, where exposure is continuously managed rather than passively held. That shift alone could reshape how professional traders engage with this market segment.

Click here to register for the Backpack exchange at a discounted rate.

Invite-Only Beta With Risk Front and Center

Access to Unified Prediction Portfolio is currently limited to an invite-only beta, focused on Backpack’s most active traders. The company says this phase is intended to observe real-world behavior and refine the system before broader release.

That caution is notable. Cross-margin flexibility also concentrates risk. Losses in one product can quickly spill over into others during periods of volatility, amplifying drawdowns faster than traders may anticipate. Testing the risk engine under controlled conditions appears less like a formality and more like a necessity.

A Post-FTX EU Expansion Strategy

Backpack’s move into prediction markets follows a transformative year for the exchange. In January 2025, Backpack acquired FTX EU, gaining access to a MiFID II–regulated European framework. By April, the company initiated asset recovery for users whose funds had remained frozen since the 2022 FTX collapse.

Against that backdrop, prediction markets look less like an experiment and more like a calculated extension of an increasingly integrated trading platform.

A Crowded Market, A Different Approach

The broader prediction market sector continues to expand rapidly. In December 2025, Kalshi reported $6.26 billion in trading volume, up from $5.81 billion the previous month. Polymarket reached $2.28 billion, compared to $1.87 billion in November.

As prediction markets move closer to mainstream use cases, competition is shifting away from novelty toward structure and capital efficiency. Backpack’s unified, cross-margined model introduces a different risk–reward equation — one that offers flexibility, but demands discipline.

Whether that flexibility ultimately becomes a durable advantage will depend less on the technology itself and more on how traders adapt to the freedom it creates.

Ethereum is drawing attention as the amount held on centralized exchanges reaches unprecedented lows. According to Glassnode, only 8.8% of ETH remains on exchanges, the lowest level since 2015. This decline is closely linked to increased long-term staking and digital asset treasury purchases, which could tighten supply and influence market dynamics.

Ethereum Balances Plummet on Exchanges

Since early July, exchange-held ETH has dropped by around 43%. Analysts note that activities like staking, layer-2 usage, and treasury acquisitions are moving Ethereum off exchanges. Milk Road, a macro-investment research platform, highlighted that this represents Ether’s “tightest supply environment in history.” For comparison, Bitcoin reserves on exchanges still stand at 14.7%.

Momentum Indicators Signal Strength

On-Balance Volume (OBV) shows hidden buying strength despite short-term price resistance. Analyst Sykodelic emphasized that while price faced rejection, OBV often predicts upward movements reliably. Market sentiment may appear cautious, but a tightening supply could drive price action in the near future.

ETH Maintains $3,000 Support

Ether prices have largely remained above $3,000 over the past five days, struggling to break the $3,200 resistance. The ETH/BTC pair recently broke its downtrend, signaling potential relative strength against Bitcoin. Investors are closely watching these levels for signs of further upside.

Bitcoin whale inflows surged in late November, putting the crypto market under renewed pressure. BTC tested key support levels as large wallets transferred funds to exchanges, boosting selling risks. Analysts emphasize that whale behavior directly influences the short-term trend.

Bitcoin Whale Inflows Signal a Strong Warning

On November 21, whales moved approximately 9,000 BTC to exchanges, nearly half from large wallets. This activity signaled that whales were preparing to sell, adding new pressure to the crypto market. Single-day transfers reaching 7,000 BTC further stressed the price.

“This indicates that investors and traders continue to sell Bitcoin in the context of the current price drawdown, putting further downward pressure on the price.”

CryptoQuant analysis shows that almost half of the BTC sent to exchanges comes from wallets holding 100 BTC or more. Single-day inflows of 7,000 BTC suggest whales are accelerating their selling preparations.

Meanwhile, the average BTC deposit in November reached 1.23 BTC, the highest level in the past year. This rise pushed exchanges back into a selling-dominated position. Coinbase reported that BTC fell to $80,600, the lowest in seven months.

Bitcoin exchange inflows are rising as the price drops to ~87K, a seven-month low.

Large deposits (100+ BTC) now make up 45% of all inflows, hitting 7K BTC on Nov 21.

Large holders are increasingly sending BTC to exchanges, reinforcing the current downtrend. pic.twitter.com/UpN4rAL0FH

— CryptoQuant.com (@cryptoquant_com) November 26, 2025

Binance Stablecoin Reserves Hit Record High

Binance’s stablecoin reserves reached $51 billion this week, setting a new record. This accumulation indicates that investors are moving away from risk and keeping capital in waiting mode. BTC and ETH inflows on Binance and Coinbase together reached $40 billion, adding further pressure on the crypto market.

Analyst James Check noted that leverage remains high. He added that if BTC enters the $70,000–$80,000 range, it could clear remaining leveraged positions, indicating continued short-term volatility.

Altcoin Inflows Rise as Resistance Levels Are Monitored

Ether inflows increased but not as sharply as BTC. However, altcoins faced a strong selling wave, with many tokens returning to bear market lows. This trend shows low investor appetite and reduced trading activity on exchanges.

10x Research noted that Bitcoin’s tactical recovery from oversold conditions continues. Analysts identified $92,000 and $101,000 as key resistance levels. Remaining above $90,000 will be decisive for short-term price action.

Key Market Signals This Week:

Whale inflows rose, boosting selling pressure.

Stablecoin reserves reached record highs.

Altcoin inflows increased, while prices weakened.

The crypto market remains cautious.

This analysis clearly shows the relationship between Bitcoin whale inflows and market behavior. On-chain data continues to shape short-term trends. As whale activity increases, market pressure may persist, urging investors to remain cautious.

CZ defended Binance’s approach, saying that every exchange is free to choose its business model, adding that strong projects don’t need to pay for listings because user demand drives the listings naturally.

CZ: “If Your Project Is Strong, Exchanges Will Compete to List It”

CZ argued that credible crypto projects don’t have to beg or pay for listings.
“If your project is strong, exchanges will race to list your coin. If you have to beg, ask yourself why — and who’s providing value to whom,” he said.

He also advised developers to focus on building valuable projects rather than blaming exchanges for not listing their tokens. CZ’s post carried a strong message to competing platforms as well:

“Set your own listing fees to zero if you like. Even remove trading fees. It’s your choice. Focus on your users, not your competitors.”

Listing Fees, Business Models, and User Protection

CZ highlighted PancakeSwap as an example of a platform that doesn’t charge listing fees yet maintains strong trading volumes. According to him, each exchange balances inclusivity, security, and profitability differently.

Some exchanges, he noted, list every token and risk scams, while others charge listing fees or request airdrops and deposits to ensure only legitimate projects enter the market.

“These models are not black and white,” Zhao said. “Many exchanges use mixed strategies between spot, futures, and Web3 listings.”

Competition in the crypto market is intensifying. South Korea’s largest exchanges, Upbit and Bithumb, are aggressively listing tokens to increase their market share. This rapid pace, however, raises new concerns for investor protection.

Upbit Accelerates Token Listings

In September, Upbit added nearly a new coin every day. Within just 11 days, it listed seven tokens including Linea (LINEA), Pump.Fun (PUMP), Holoworld AI (HOLO), OpenLedger (OPEN), Worldcoin (WLD), Flock.io (FLOCK), and RedStone (RED). This number exceeded all listings in August.

Previously conservative, Upbit changed its strategy after Bithumb increased its market share. Analysts say this move aims to maintain market dominance.

Bithumb Rapidly Increases Market Share

Rival exchange Bithumb pushed its market share to 46% with aggressive moves. For example, Worldcoin (WLD), previously traded only on Bithumb, doubled in value within a week. Upbit responded by listing the token within just two hours.

Bithumb briefly led the market in late 2023 with a zero-commission campaign. This time, it achieved significant gains without special promotions, challenging Upbit.

Record Trading Volumes in the Crypto Market

In August, the crypto market remained mostly flat, with prices ending the month near their starting levels. Analysts note that Robinhood’s trading volume was affected by the summer holiday season and seasonality.

However, trading volumes are expected to rise again in the second half of the year due to growing institutional interest, crypto ETFs, and corporate treasury investments. Robinhood’s inclusion in the S&P 500 increased its visibility in institutional markets, while the launch of its EU-focused Layer 2 blockchain and triple-leverage perpetual futures, routed through Bitstamp, plays a central role in the platform’s new product strategy.

From January to August 2025, South Korean exchanges recorded impressive daily average trading volumes:

Upbit: $3.2B

Bithumb: $1.2B

Total: $4.4B

This nearly doubled the previous year’s $2.2B, attracting both institutional and retail traders.

Listing Race Poses Investor Protection Risks

The intense listing competition carries risks. Experts warn that rapidly approved tokens may reach the market without proper vetting, weakening investor protection.

In H2 2025, major South Korean exchanges delisted 25 tokens.

Upbit delisted 10 in 2023, 3 in 2024, and 11 in the first eight months of 2025.

Bithumb delisted 26, 19, and 20 tokens during the same periods, averaging 20 per year.

These figures highlight not only rapid listings but also high delisting rates.

Regulations and the Future of Competition

South Korea’s crypto market is limited to spot trading, as derivatives and other products are banned. This makes trading volume the primary competition tool.

Experts say stricter regulations ironically fuel the listing race and threaten market safety.

Under the new framework, leveraged loans exceeding collateral value are prohibited. Interest rates are capped at 20%.
New Rules for Crypto Lending Services

The FSC stated in a press release that the guidelines reference global cases and define virtual asset lending clearly. The rules also include enhanced user protection measures.

Products requiring users to repay loans in cash are restricted, as they violate existing credit regulations. Furthermore, companies offering lending services must use their own capital. Third-party services cannot be used to bypass these rules.

The guidelines require lending limits based on user experience and transaction history. Moreover, investors must be informed in advance if their positions face liquidation risks. This ensures users avoid sudden losses.

Implementation Overseen by DAXA

The guidelines follow the August 19th suspension of credit services at local exchanges. Platforms like Upbit and Bithumb had launched various lending products. However, FSC’s directive required them to halt these services.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has presented its plan for listing spot crypto on registered futures exchanges for public comment. The agency is collecting feedback until August 18 to finalize its roadmap.

Acting Chair Caroline Pham stated that the current legal framework could be applied without the need for new regulations. She emphasized that spot crypto assets could be traded through designated contract markets (DCMs). This approach directly conflicts with the SEC’s securities interpretations.

CFTC-registered DCM platforms like CME Group and ICE Futures US operate under strict supervision and customer protection measures. The plan would allow these platforms to list physically settled crypto contracts.

However, Pham opposes complex regulations similar to Europe’s MiCA. She advocates for streamlined and effective solutions to maintain the U.S.’s market leadership.

SEC-CFTC Conflict

Some legal experts warn that the plan carries significant risks. Andrew Rossow, CEO of AR Media Consulting, pointed out that crypto assets cannot be rigidly categorized. According to Rossow, assets may acquire security characteristics over time, threatening regulatory stability.

The CFTC’s authority is limited to leveraged or collateralized transactions conducted only through DCM platforms. Meanwhile, the SEC still classifies many cryptocurrencies as securities under the Howey Test.

Rossow emphasized that this dual framework doesn’t align with the dynamic nature of crypto assets. Even if investors comply with CFTC rules, they may face retroactive SEC enforcement actions.

Moreover, this situation could trigger various legal consequences such as unregistered securities trading or brokerage violations. Consequently, even if the plan is implemented, a lack of coordination between agencies increases risks.

CFTC Moves to Accelerate Crypto Regulation in the U.S.

Caroline Pham aims to implement spot crypto regulations within 12 to 18 months, positioning the U.S. as a global crypto hub.

However, without resolving uncertainties around securities-commodity distinctions, such steps could lead to further legal confusion. Also, listings made without clear investor protections may undermine trust.

Tether has minted $2 billion worth of new USDT on the TRC-20 network. With this move, the total USDT supply on the Tron blockchain has exceeded $80 billion, marking a significant milestone. Tron, known for its fast and low-cost transactions, is becoming increasingly dominant in the stablecoin market.

Tether Strengthens USDT Reserves on Tron

Tether regularly reinforces its reserves to maintain the peg of USDT to the US dollar. By holding the newly minted tokens in reserve, it ensures users can redeem their USDT for dollars when needed. Every USDT in circulation is backed one-to-one by assets held by Tether.

The recent $2 billion issuance was conducted exclusively on the Tron network, highlighting Tron’s advantages in transaction speed and low fees. This network offers a favorable environment for users handling large transfers. Additionally, Tether distributes USDT across multiple blockchains, including Tron and Ethereum, enhancing flexibility for both users and crypto exchanges.

USDT Supply on Tron Exceeds $80 Billion

According to CryptoQuant, the total USDT supply on the TRC-20 network has surpassed $80 billion. This figure demonstrates ongoing growth on Tron, even during the slow market periods of 2022 and 2023. Tron’s USDT supply grew from $6.71 billion in 2021 to $39.41 billion, and from $59.76 billion in early 2025 to $80.76 billion recently.

On November 13, 2024, Tron surpassed Ethereum in total circulating USDT for the first time. This milestone shows investors prefer Tron for faster and cheaper transactions. The latest $2 billion issuance further underscores Tether’s confidence and strategic focus on Tron.

PSA: 1B USDt inventory replenish on Tron Network. Note this is an authorized but not issued transaction, meaning that this amount will be used as inventory for next period issuance requests and chain swaps.

According to Paolo Ardoino, these USDT tokens are held in Tether’s treasury as inventory. This stockpile is prepared for future issuances and cross-chain swaps, enabling quick responses when users or exchanges want to swap USDT across networks.

Significant USDT Inflows to Exchanges

Following the new issuance, stablecoin inflows to centralized exchanges have surged. Notably, HTX Global received $1.24 billion in net stablecoin inflows within hours. CryptoQuant notes such inflows typically trigger increases in spot and derivatives markets, possibly signaling short-term price volatility in the crypto market. In conclusion, the timing of this large issuance strengthens expectations of an upward market movement. Increased stablecoin liquidity points to potential capital flows into cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

Tether has acquired a 10.7% stake in Juventus, one of Italy’s leading football clubs. This investment, valued at approximately 128 million euros, highlights Tether’s aim to gain a seat on the club’s board of directors and participate in future capital increases. This move is seen as a significant indicator of Tether’s strategic ventures into the sports industry, particularly the world of football.

The largest U.S.-based crypto exchange announced that users will soon access decentralized exchanges (DEXs) on Ethereum Layer 2 Base directly through the main Coinbase app.

At the State of Crypto Summit, Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal said: “Millions of assets get created and traded on decentralized exchanges, but only a few people have been able to access them easily. That’s why today, I’m incredibly excited to share that we’ll be integrating Base DEXs into the Coinbase app.”

“If It’s Onchain, It’s On Coinbase”

With this integration, users will no longer need separate wallets or complex settings to interact with Base-based assets. Coinbase is making decentralized trading as seamless as possible, allowing users to explore DeFi without leaving the centralized app experience.

Aerodrome, Base’s leading DEX, saw an 18% surge following the announcement. The platform currently accounts for over 50% of Base’s weekly volume, processing $3.37 billion of the network’s total $5.07 billion.

Alongside the integration news, Coinbase also revealed the Coinbase One Card—a new American Express credit card offering up to 4% cashback paid in Bitcoin.
