Global markets are entering a pivotal week as investors closely monitor high-impact macroeconomic data and major crypto-related developments. Key inflation reports, labor market figures, and central bank decisions are expected to influence risk appetite across both traditional and digital asset markets.

Key Macroeconomic Events To Watch

The week begins with a strong focus on the US labor market. On Tuesday, the Non-Farm Payrolls report and unemployment rate will offer fresh insight into economic momentum. A softer jobs print could reinforce expectations of looser financial conditions, while a strong outcome may revive rate-hike concerns.

On Wednesday, investors will turn their attention to the Eurozone’s annual inflation data. A reading in line with expectations would support the European Central Bank’s cautious stance. Thursday’s ECB rate decision stands out as one of the week’s most important events, even though no rate change is anticipated. Markets will closely analyze the policy statement for future guidance.

Later in the week, US inflation data takes center stage again. The annual CPI and Core PCE Price Index will serve as critical indicators for the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation trend, potentially impacting bond yields and the US dollar.

Crypto Market Developments In Focus

From a digital asset perspective, one of the most closely watched events is the expected SEC meeting focused on Bitcoin and the broader crypto market. Any regulatory signals from this meeting could have immediate implications for market sentiment.

On Wednesday, Binance is set to delist FIS, REI, and VOXEL, a move that may increase short-term volatility for the affected tokens. The same day, Coinbase is scheduled to release an announcement, which investors are monitoring closely for strategic or product-related updates.

US housing data, including existing home sales, along with the University of Michigan’s inflation expectations and consumer sentiment surveys, may also indirectly influence crypto markets by shaping broader risk perceptions.

Weekly Highlights At A Glance

Monday: SEC meeting on Bitcoin and crypto assets

Tuesday: US Non-Farm Payrolls and unemployment rate

Wednesday: Binance delistings and Eurozone CPI data

Thursday: ECB interest rate decision and US annual CPI

Friday: Bank of Japan rate decision and US Core PCE data

In addition, a total of five Federal Reserve speakers are scheduled throughout the week. Their remarks could trigger short-term market volatility as investors reassess interest rate expectations. Overall, the coming days are set to be decisive for both traditional markets and the crypto ecosystem, as data-driven signals guide the next market move.

Today, the inflation data for the Eurozone for the month of July was announced. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which came in above expectations, stood at 2%.

The inflation, which was recorded at 2% in the previous period, indicates that inflationary pressures are continuing in the markets. This data is of critical importance for the monetary policy decisions of the European Central Bank (ECB).

The market expectation was at the 1.9% level. The previous period was recorded at 2%. Inflation came in above expectations. Monthly inflation was recorded at 0.1%. Core CPI (excluding food and energy), which is one of the key inflation indicators, rose to 2.9% on an annual basis.

This shows that the fundamental components of inflation are strengthening. Services sector inflation, at 1.82%, became the component with the highest annual inflation. According to the data, the annual inflation rate in the Eurozone came in above expectations, at 2%. This shows that the rate remained at the same level as the 2% recorded in June. The market expectation was 1.9%.

This situation indicates that the European Central Bank (ECB) has reached its inflation target of 2%, but that the pressures on price stability have not completely disappeared. Movements in sub-items, especially core inflation, will continue to provide important clues for the ECB’s future monetary policy decisions.

Following the news, the Bitcoin price is trading at $115,350. In short, there is an environment of uncertainty and reduced risk appetite in the markets. Investors are carefully watching Trump’s tariffs and the Fed’s interest rate policies.

The European Central Bank (ECB) made no changes to interest rates at its July meeting, in line with expectations. The main interest rate was kept at 2%, while the deposit rate remained unchanged at 2.15%.

This decision was largely anticipated by the markets and is being interpreted as laying the groundwork for a potential rate cut later in the year. The impact of the decision was immediately felt in the cryptocurrency markets as well.

Weak Signals of Economic Growth

Data from the private sector in the 20-member Eurozone suggested a mild recovery despite ongoing stagnation in major economies like France and Germany. However, the pace of growth remains weak.

At the same time, unemployment rates across the region continue to hover at historically low levels. Inflation is also near target, with annual inflation recorded at 2% in June—slightly up from 1.9% in May.

Inflation Rising in the U.S. and U.K.

Meanwhile, inflation in the U.S. rose to 2.7% in June, exceeding expectations, compared to 2.4% the previous month. In the United Kingdom, inflation reached 3.6%, indicating a more aggressive price surge compared to Europe.

These developments make the ECB’s decision to hold rates steady even more significant. However, reports from Washington suggesting possible tariff hikes—especially on steel—are raising concerns. With additional tariffs of up to 50% being discussed, many companies are reportedly postponing investment and employment plans.

Annual inflation in the Eurozone reached 2.0% in June 2025, aligning with the European Central Bank (ECB)’s long-term target. According to preliminary data released by Eurostat, this marks a slight uptick from May’s reading of 1.9%.

This figure met economists’ expectations and signals that monetary policy efforts across Europe may finally be achieving their intended impact of taming inflation.

Services Inflation on the Rise

Among the key drivers, services inflation stood out in June. This category rose to 3.3%, up from 3.2% in May, although still below April’s 4% level. This uptick is especially relevant as services are a core component closely monitored by the ECB.

Core Inflation Holds Steady

Core inflation—which strips out volatile categories like energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco—remained flat at 2.3% in June. The stable figure reflects broader price pressures beginning to stabilize across the euro area.

Diverging Trends in Major Eurozone Economies

Inflation data from key euro area economies showed mixed signals. Germany saw a slight easing in harmonized inflation, France and Spain experienced modest increases, while Italy remained unchanged. Collectively, these variations helped push the overall euro area figure toward the ECB’s 2% benchmark.

A Cautious Outlook on Rates

Given the current inflation environment, analysts increasingly expect the ECB to hold interest rates steady at its next meeting on July 25. However, a potential 25 basis-point cut is still on the table for September.

ECB Chief Economist Philip Lane reinforced this outlook, stating:
“The cycle of bringing inflation down from 10% to 2% is done. But going forward, we must remain alert to ensure any deviation doesn’t affect the medium-term outlook.”
His comments reflect a continued data-dependent approach to monetary policy.

Risks Remain on the Horizon

Despite meeting the inflation target, economists warn of lingering risks that could derail the disinflation process. These include persistent services inflation, volatility in oil prices driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and potential U.S. trade tariffs.

Inflation Breakdown for June 2025

According to the Eurostat flash estimate, here’s how the components of inflation fared in June:

Services: 3.3% (May: 3.2%)

Food, alcohol & tobacco: 3.1% (May: 3.2%)

Non-energy industrial goods: 0.5% (May: 0.6%)

Energy: -2.7% (May: -3.6%)

When Will Final Data Be Released?

Eurostat is set to publish the full inflation dataset for June on July 17, 2025. This release will be closely watched by policymakers and markets alike as the ECB prepares its next move.

Kevin Hassett is once again at the center of economic discussions with his latest statements. Currently serving as the Director of the National Economic Council, Hassett argued that the Federal Reserve should move forward with interest rate cuts, stating that he shares the same view as President Donald Trump and Fed official Christopher Waller. But why is Hassett calling for a rate cut, and how realistic is this stance?

Hassett’s Message on Rate Cuts Is Clear

Kevin Hassett’s comments represent an alternative economic perspective to the Fed’s current policy stance. According to Hassett:

Inflation is under control.

The labor market remains strong.

Conditions are suitable for a rate cut.

He believes that the Fed should take more decisive steps, especially considering global economic trends.

Hassett: “Fed official Waller and Trump are right about interest rates. There is no reason why the Fed shouldn’t cut rates.”

Why Is Powell Holding Back?

Fed Chair Jerome Powell, however, has a different outlook. Powell warns that external factors such as rising oil prices and new tariffs could drive inflation higher in the near future. In particular, the surge in energy prices is believed to put upward pressure on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Because of these concerns, the Fed is taking a cautious stance toward a potential rate cut in September. However, market expectations differ: According to CME Group data, investors see a 76% probability of a rate cut in September.

Global Trend: Other Central Banks Have Started Cutting Rates

Another point supporting Hassett’s view is the global approach of other central banks. Major institutions like the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of Canada (BoC) have already begun reducing interest rates.

If the U.S. lags behind this trend, the dollar could strengthen further, which might harm the competitiveness of U.S. exporters. This strengthens Hassett’s message: “Now is the time to act.”

You can also freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section. Data revealed that annual inflation dropped to 1.9%, dipping under the European Central Bank’s 2% target for the first time in months. This continues the trend of gradual disinflation observed throughout the first half of 2025.

Services Prices Take a Step Back

A key factor behind the inflation cooldown was the notable drop in services inflation. After climbing to 4% in April, service prices decelerated to 3.2% in May, marking the lowest level in over three years. The temporary spike seen previously appears to have been influenced by seasonal effects, particularly the Easter holiday.

In parallel, core inflation — which strips out volatile components such as energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco — also softened, moving from 2.7% in April to 2.3% last month.

Crucial Timing Ahead of ECB Policy Meeting

This unexpected inflation dip comes just days before the ECB’s next interest rate decision. The bank previously lowered its deposit rate to 2.25% in April, retreating from the peak of 4% reached in mid-2023.

Market participants are already pricing in a 25 basis point cut at this week’s meeting. Yet the bigger question now is whether this latest data strengthens the case for additional easing in July — and the current outlook suggests it does.

Global Risk Factors Still Loom Large

Despite the cooling inflation in Europe, global economic risks remain elevated. Protectionist trade measures proposed by the U.S., including sweeping tariff adjustments, are raising concerns about international trade disruptions. These policies are likely to impact the European Union as well, adding to economic uncertainty.

While the direct inflationary effects of these tariffs are unclear for now, potential retaliatory actions and prolonged trade tensions could eventually destabilize price stability.

OECD Maintains 2025 Growth Forecast

Amid all this, the OECD has stuck to its prior projections. The organization still expects the euro area to grow by 1% in 2025, with inflation forecasted at 2.2% — unchanged from its earlier outlook. This consistency could give the ECB more room to maneuver in its monetary strategy.

Bond Markets Welcome the Soft Data

Following the release of the inflation figures, eurozone bond yields retreated modestly. Germany’s 10-year bond yield dipped to 2.499%, while France’s equivalent yield settled around 3.169%. The movement reflects market confidence in the ECB’s ability to manage inflation without derailing growth.

Lowest Inflation in France

The lowest annual inflation rates were observed in France (0.9%), Cyprus (1.4%), and Denmark (1.5%). The price stability in these countries is often linked to structural reforms, especially in the food and energy sectors.

In contrast, the highest inflation rates were recorded in Romania (4.9%), Estonia (4.4%), and Hungary (4.2%). This situation may be due to rising service sector prices in these countries.

Mixed Picture Among Member States

According to the April 2025 data, the inflation rate fell in 13 EU Member States, rose in 11, and remained unchanged in 3. This indicates that economic recovery across Europe remains fragile and varies significantly between countries.

Main Contributors to Inflation

According to Eurostat data, services made the largest contribution to annual inflation in the euro area, adding +1.80 percentage points. This was followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (+0.57 pp), while energy prices contributed negatively with -0.35 pp.

Other items, such as non-energy industrial goods, contributed a limited +0.15 pp to inflation. This shows that falling energy prices helped balance overall inflation, although price increases in the services sector continued to push it upwards.

ECB Moving Closer to Its Target

The European Central Bank’s (ECB) long-term inflation target of 2% is now within reach. While the decline in energy prices makes it possible to achieve this goal, service sector pressures are still keeping inflation alive.
