According to Bloomberg, Stephen Akridge, a co-founder of the Solana blockchain platform, is being sued in San Francisco Superior Court by his ex-wife, Elisa Rossi, over allegations of embezzling staking revenues.

Allegations Regarding Cryptocurrency Misuse

Elisa Rossi claims that Akridge exploited his expertise in cryptocurrency to unlawfully transfer SOL staking revenues from her digital wallet to his own. In her complaint, Rossi alleges that Akridge leveraged the disparity in blockchain knowledge to misappropriate staking rewards worth “millions of dollars.”

Staking is a process where cryptocurrencies are used as collateral to validate blockchain transactions, earning additional token rewards in return. Rossi asserts that the profits generated through this process rightfully belong to her.

Details of the Allegations and Legal Proceedings

The lawsuit claims that Akridge embezzled the staking revenues by gaining full control over Rossi’s SOL token-linked accounts and commissions between early March and mid-May. While the exact amount of SOL tokens involved is undisclosed, Rossi described the misappropriated earnings as “significant.” The complaint also includes requests to keep certain details confidential.

Solana and Stephen Akridge

Stephen Akridge is recognized as a key engineering leader who left Qualcomm to develop the Solana blockchain platform alongside co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal. Although Solana was initially associated with FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, it has since become one of the world’s leading blockchain platforms.
