The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) is relocating its fan-focused NFT platform, FIFA Collect, to a new destination. Previously hosted on Algorand and later expanded to Polygon, these NFTs will now be migrated to FIFA’s own Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible blockchain, called the FIFA Blockchain.

Back in March, comments by FIFA President Gianni Infantino about entering the crypto world triggered a rally in the price of FIFA Coin, a token created on the Pump.fun platform.

NFT Holders Must Take Action Before This Date

The migration process will start no earlier than May 20, 2025. If you hold FIFA NFTs outside the official platform, you must reimport them before this date — otherwise, you may lose the ability to trade them within the platform.

Why a New Blockchain?

According to FIFA’s official statement, the key goals of this migration are to:

Enable new user experiences

Improve wallet compatibility (especially with EVM wallets like MetaMask)

Establish a stronger foundation for future innovations

Thanks to this new network, users can expect a smoother experience, and FIFA NFTs will become more compatible with broader Web3 platforms.

What Experts Are Saying

Well-known Web3 artist NRL (@nrlartt) shared the following thoughts on the migration:

“Until now, FIFA Collect was managed through a third-party provider. This move marks FIFA’s first direct step into blockchain technology. Also, remember that FIFARivals is an officially licensed game by FIFAcom. FIFA Rivals is fully integrated with the Polkadot network, offering a more decentralized and dynamic gaming experience through Mythical’s blockchain infrastructure.
Polkadot wasn’t kidding when it said it would bring millions to Web3!”

Safe and Seamless for Users

FIFA emphasized that the user experience will not be disrupted by the migration. All digital collectibles already on the platform will remain safe, and no additional action is needed for those.

However, if your collectibles are stored outside FIFA Collect, make sure to reimport them before May 20, 2025.

The reimport feature is already active, so users can begin preparing now.

Key Dates:
