Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has entered into a strategic collaboration with global asset manager Franklin Templeton. The partnership introduces a new framework that allows institutional clients to use tokenized money market fund (MMF) shares as off-exchange collateral.

The initiative is designed to address long-standing concerns among large-scale investors regarding custody risk, capital inefficiency, and counterparty exposure. Under the new structure, institutions can deploy capital in digital markets without transferring their underlying assets directly onto the exchange.

Details of the Binance and Franklin Templeton Collaboration

The program is built around tokenized money market fund shares issued via Franklin Templeton’s Benji Technology Platform. Eligible institutional participants can pledge these tokenized fund shares as collateral when trading on Binance.

Importantly, the underlying assets remain held off-exchange within regulated custody infrastructure. The custody layer is supported by Ceffu, Binance’s institutional custody partner. While the tokenized fund shares are securely stored outside the exchange environment, their value is mirrored within Binance’s trading system. This mechanism allows institutions to maintain exposure to regulated, yield-bearing money market instruments while simultaneously engaging in crypto trading activities.

Enhancing Capital Efficiency and Risk Management

One of the core advantages of this model is improved capital efficiency. Institutions no longer need to leave significant funds idle on trading platforms. Instead, they can continue earning yield through traditional money market funds while leveraging the same assets as collateral in digital asset markets.

By keeping the underlying assets within regulated custody rather than on the exchange itself, the structure reduces counterparty risk. This is particularly relevant for institutional participants that prioritize regulatory compliance, asset protection, and operational transparency.

Click here to register on Binance Exchange with a 20% commission discount!

Bridging Traditional Finance and Digital Assets

The collaboration reflects a broader trend toward integrating traditional financial instruments with blockchain-based markets. Tokenized real-world assets are increasingly viewed as a practical solution for aligning conventional capital markets with digital trading infrastructure.

Through this program, Binance and Franklin Templeton are effectively creating a bridge between regulated financial products and crypto market activity. For institutional investors, the result is a more secure, flexible, and capital-efficient way to participate in digital asset trading while maintaining exposure to established financial instruments.

Global investment giant Franklin Templeton, which manages $1.7 trillion in assets, believes the crypto ETF ecosystem is entering its next major growth phase. Roger Bayston, the company’s Head of Digital Assets, said that although Bitcoin, Ethereum, and—for the first time—XRP ETFs have recently launched, the real wave of demand will come from “multi-asset basket ETFs.”

Strong Interest in Single-Asset ETFs, but the Next Phase Will Be Different

In an interview with U.S. media, Bayston stated that single-token ETFs are attracting strong interest for now, but as the crypto market matures, investor behavior will become more diversified. He noted that Franklin Templeton already offers a basket fund composed of Bitcoin and Ethereum, and summarized the next stage as follows:

“Yes, single-coin ETFs are generating a lot of interest; but a year from now, I think the biggest demand will be for diversified portfolios. A new era of product innovation is coming in the crypto space.”

According to Bayston, most traditional finance investors still lack the expertise needed to select individual tokens. For this reason, ETFs that are:

Index-based

Multi-asset

Actively managed

are expected to attract a much broader investor base.

Strong First-Day Demand for the XRP ETF

Franklin Templeton’s XRP spot ETF, launched on November 24, made headlines with its debut performance. The fund recorded $60 million in net inflows on its first day—highlighting not only rising institutional interest in XRP but also growing demand for large-cap altcoin ETFs beyond BTC and ETH.

This inflow is considered a strong start for a newly launched ETF and is seen as a sign that long-awaited institutional access to XRP is finally materializing. Analysts say first-day demand was supported by:

Clarity around Ripple’s legal standing in the U.S.

XRP’s high market liquidity

Investors’ desire to diversify beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum

Franklin Templeton’s strong reputation among traditional investors

Analysts also note that the introduction of an XRP ETF signifies a growing search for a “third major digital asset” in institutional portfolios, with investors shifting away from BTC-ETH-only allocations toward more diversified crypto baskets.

Overall Assessment

Franklin Templeton’s comments suggest that the crypto ETF market is not just a trend centered on individual assets, but is likely moving toward multi-asset portfolio products as the dominant theme of the coming years. As crypto adoption grows, investors are expected to increasingly favor diversified basket funds that distribute risk and offer professional management.

Investor interest in U.S. digital asset markets is accelerating. Five spot XRP ETFs from Franklin Templeton, Bitwise, Canary Capital, 21Shares, and CoinShares have been listed as “pre-launch” on DTCC, signaling preparatory steps before a potential market launch. Experts note similar moves have historically indicated important market signals.

DTCC Listings and Spot XRP ETFs

The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has added the following spot XRP ETFs to its list:

Franklin XRP Trust (XRPZ)

21Shares XRP ETF (TOXR)

Bitwise XRP ETF (XRP)

Canary XRP ETF (XRPC)

CoinShares XRP ETF (XRPL)

This step is considered a significant preparatory move toward making spot XRP ETFs available to U.S. investors. Market participants see the listing as a potential signal of an accelerated ETF approval process.

Canary Capital CEO Steven McClurg stated at Ripple Swell 2025 that after successfully launching Litecoin and Hedera ETFs, the company plans to launch the XRPC fund. McClurg noted that the ETF could go live within 20 days with no delays. WisdomTree’s XRP ETF is also expected to join the other funds on DTCC shortly.

Rising Demand and Market Dynamics

Demand for spot XRP ETFs is growing. Earlier this year, products like Teucrium’s 2x Long Daily XRP ETF (XXRP) and ProShares Ultra XRP ETF (UXRP) were launched. XXRP raised roughly $306 million in net assets in less than a year, demonstrating strong investor appetite for leveraged XRP exposure.

Solana and XRP futures are among the fastest-growing crypto products on the CME Group. Leveraging the infrastructure and liquidity developments of Bitcoin and Ethereum derivatives, these products support increased market participation and popular trading strategies. The SEC’s “General Listing Standards” adopted in September also provide regulations to speed up ETF approval processes.

Grayscale and Market Expectations

Grayscale aims to convert its existing XRP Trust into a spot XRP ETF. Since its launch in September, the Trust has amassed around $14 million in assets under management. These developments indicate rising investor appetite and growing innovation in digital asset markets. The surge in spot XRP ETF applications is viewed as a positive indicator of institutional investor interest.

The crypto market is turning its focus to the United States, where multiple Solana staking ETF applications could receive approval in the coming two weeks. According to ETF analyst Nate Geraci, such an outcome could act as a major catalyst, potentially fueling market activity in October. So, what’s the latest on the Solana staking ETF front? Let’s break it down.

Leading Asset Managers File With the SEC

Geraci noted that heavyweight asset managers — including Franklin Templeton, Fidelity Investments, CoinShares, Bitwise, Grayscale, VanEck, and Canary Capital — have all submitted updated S-1 filings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for spot Solana ETFs.
These S-1 filings serve as comprehensive disclosures, outlining company financials, associated risks, and the details of the securities to be listed.

The First Solana Staking ETF Already Live

The new wave of filings arrives just two months after the launch of the first Solana staking ETF in the U.S. The REX-Osprey Solana Staking ETF, which debuted on the Cboe BZX exchange, registered $33 million in trading volume and $12 million in inflows on its first day.
Pantera Capital has since argued that Solana could represent the “next big institutional opportunity,” pointing to its relatively under-allocated status compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum.

“Get Ready for October”

Geraci emphasized that October could be a pivotal month for crypto markets. Recent developments, such as the first Hyperliquid (HYPE) ETF filing and the SEC’s approval of new listing standards for digital asset ETFs, are adding momentum to the narrative.
Meanwhile, Bitwise CIO Hunter Horsley revealed that the Bitwise Solana Staking ETP in Europe attracted $60 million in inflows within just five trading days, adding that “Solana is clearly on investors’ minds.”

Another flurry of S-1 amendments filed today on spot sol ETFs…

Franklin, Fidelity, CoinShares, Bitwise, Grayscale, VanEck, & Canary.

Includes staking (yes, bodes well for spot eth ETF staking).

Guessing these are approved w/in next two weeks. pic.twitter.com/g13NDFKSEU

— Nate Geraci (@NateGeraci) September 26, 2025

Broader Altcoin Rally on the Horizon?

Analysts at Bitfinex have highlighted that a broad-based altcoin rally may not materialize until more crypto ETFs are approved, giving investors access further down the risk curve. Expanding ETF products could unlock significant demand for altcoins beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Another investment firm is moving its funds to the blockchain. Anthony Scaramucci, founder and CEO of SkyBridge Capital, announced that the company plans to hold around $300 million from two funds in the form of tokenized assets. This move aligns with the growing interest in tokenization within the crypto sector. The process involves creating digital token versions of real-world assets, such as Treasury bills, which can be easily traded on the blockchain just like Bitcoin or stablecoins.

The Future of Tokenization

Scaramucci, a former Goldman Sachs executive who briefly served in the White House during Trump’s presidency, told Fortune, “I basically see the period from 2026 to 2027 as the age of real-world tokenization.”

SkyBridge Capital plans to deploy its tokenized funds on the Avalanche blockchain network. According to crypto analytics provider DefiLlama, Avalanche currently holds nearly $2 billion in assets on its network.

Fund Structure and Crypto Investments

Scaramucci stated that the amount being tokenized represents about 10% of the firm’s assets under management. One of the two funds focuses on cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin that have not been classified as securities. The other is a fund-of-funds, which includes SkyBridge’s other investment vehicles, covering both venture capital and crypto funds.

Reducing Transaction Fees and Cutting Out Middlemen

Experts say offering investment funds on decentralized networks can reduce fees and eliminate intermediaries. In traditional finance, there are often multiple parties between buyers and sellers, each verifying the origin of the asset, which slows down the process and adds costs.

Blockchain is a decentralized database, meaning no single party can tamper with stored information. Theoretically, ownership and authenticity of a financial asset can be verified directly on the blockchain without a middleman. Users can check the details themselves.

Moves by Institutional Giants

Although the benefits of tokenization have been praised for some time, putting real-world assets on the blockchain is still an emerging trend—but it is gaining momentum. Financial heavyweights like BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and VanEck have recently issued money market funds on blockchains such as Solana and Aptos. In the future, investors may be able to buy and transfer their stakes in various funds directly, without repeatedly calling banks.

BounceBit, a crypto infrastructure provider blending centralized and decentralized finance features in its CeDeFi approach, is making waves. The company recently announced the integration of Franklin Templeton’s tokenized money market fund, FOBXX, into its structured yield platform, BB Prime.

This integration combines U.S. Treasury yields with crypto-based funding and basis arbitrage strategies. It offers investors the opportunity to benefit from traditional Treasury yields while tapping into additional return opportunities.

Tokenized Money Market Funds Move Closer to Crypto

The integrated fund is part of Franklin Templeton’s BENJI product suite and will serve as collateral and a settlement instrument for investment strategies. This enables investors to access Treasury yields while also tapping into alternative revenue sources.

Tokenized money market funds, now a $7 billion asset class, are at the forefront of the latest developments in financial asset tokenization. Global asset manager BlackRock, in collaboration with Securitize, offers solutions backed by short-term U.S. government bonds through its BUIDL token, while BNY Mellon and Goldman Sachs have also launched tokenized funds for institutional investors.

Franklin Templeton was one of the first traditional asset managers to offer tokenized funds on public blockchains. It pioneered this space with the launch of BENJI in 2021.

BounceBit’s Real-World Application

BounceBit has worked with Franklin Templeton to enable the operational use of tokens in active yield strategies. The company’s CEO, Jack Lu, described this collaboration as “the first real-world application of tokenized Treasury assets in active yield strategies.”

“Partnering with Wall Street giants like Franklin Templeton shows that institutional-grade RWA (real-world asset) products have moved beyond experimentation into scalable, usable infrastructure,” Lu said, highlighting the industry’s transformation.

This development follows BounceBit’s earlier pilot using BlackRock’s BUIDL token as collateral for a bitcoin derivatives strategy, which delivered over 20% annualized returns.

BounceBit (BB) Price Outlook

Following the announcement, the price of BounceBit (BB) surged by 2.20% instantly. This rise indicates positive market sentiment and growing investor interest. Innovations like tokenization in the crypto market are key developments boosting confidence in projects like BounceBit.

Despite the surge in filings, analysts warn that investor appetite may remain focused on core assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
