• $4 million from Fartcoin,

Preferring to invest when market capitalization is low, this trader has made significant gains from early investments. Recently, he invested $62,000 in the GOAT coin when its market cap was only $2 million.

Now with GOAT’s market cap surpassing $520 million, the trader has earned over $5 million in profit and realized it by selling all his tokens.

Additionally, the trader invested in ai16z, which had a market cap of $22 million at the time, and still holds $2.9 million worth of tokens. ai16z’s market cap is now close to $2 billion.

After Fartcoin saw a more than 500% increase over the last month, the trader, who invested when its market cap was $7 million, is now over $4 million in profit. However, he still holds $3.5 million worth of tokens, expecting further increases.

A CoinGecko study found that memecoins attracted nearly a third of investor interest in the crypto space this year, making them the most talked-about topic.

CoinGecko research analyst Lim Yu Qian noted in a December 23 report that between January 1 and December 21, memecoins and related categories captured 31% of investor interest.

These coins experienced significant gains and losses throughout the year, while Bitcoin rose 123% in 2024. While these tokens are often high-risk and volatile, some experienced traders made quick profits.

CoinGecko found that the “main memecoin narrative” accounted for 15% of the interest share, surpassing the previous year’s share of 6%. Additionally, four different memecoin trends were among the “top 20 crypto narratives.”

Solana-based memecoins ranked fourth with an approximately 8% share, while memecoins on Coinbase’s blockchain Base took the 11th spot with just over a 2% share.

AI-themed and cat-themed memecoins respectively captured 1.5% and 1.2% of the market share, placing 15th and 16th.

According to CoinGecko, the memecoin market cap currently stands at $113.2 billion, with Dogecoin and Shiba Inu leading at $49.3 billion and $13.8 billion, respectively.

Interest in AI-related crypto tokens ranked second after memecoins, losing its top spot from last year.

However, interest in AI tokens increased compared to 2023, capturing around 13% of the market this year, up from just over 11% last year.

AI tokens accounted for about 15.5% of total interest this year.

The potential of AI agents was fully demonstrated when the AI-run X platform account “Truth Terminal” promoted the obscure memecoin GOAT, causing the token’s value to soar to $1.3 billion.

AI agent tokens currently make up only a small portion of the $44.8 billion AI crypto token market, led by Near Protocol and Internet Computer.

Kraken, the second-largest U.S.-based crypto exchange, plans to list 19 new tokens, including meme coins such as BNB, DYDX, DOGS, and GOAT.

The exchange announced these tokens as part of its upcoming tradable asset roadmap on its official website. Kraken also plans to integrate new blockchains, including BNB Smart Chain, dYdX, and Arweave, to support these tokens on its platform​.
