The FTX Hacker moved the stolen funds 10 months later. The identity and specific techniques used by the perpetrator continued to remain a mystery in the multi-million dollar hack case before the sudden transfers.

According to data from Arkham Intelligence, the FTX hacker, who owns over $300 million in assets, first moved on September 30th, 10 months later. The address still owns 12.5K ETH. A total of $8 million was transferred on September 30 through the Railgun privacy wallet and Thorchain.

Arkham’s data revealed two transactions in which the hacker transferred 2,500 ETH, each transaction was worth $4 million. The FTX breach occurred on November 11, 2022, shortly after FTX filed for bankruptcy and following the departure of its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.

During this incident, the unknown attacker managed to leak over $600 million worth of Ether, briefly becoming the 35th largest holder of Ethereum.

Initially, the hacker deposited the stolen coins into CoinMixer, an anonymous Bitcoin mixing service designed to make it difficult to track on-chain Bitcoin transfers.

To further obfuscate the tracking of funds, the asset chose various swaps and bridge transfers.

Following the event, famous on-chain detective ZackXBT speculated that after withdrawing from the mixer, the hacker likely transferred these funds to the crypto exchange OKX.
