One of South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Upbit, announced a new listing for Internet Computer (ICP). According to the official statement, ICP will begin trading with KRW, BTC, and USDT trading pairs. This development quickly attracted attention in the crypto market and increased investor interest in the ICP token. Listing announcements on major exchanges are often considered significant events because they improve a project’s visibility and liquidity. As expected, following Upbit’s announcement, the price of ICP moved upward as investors reacted quickly to the news. This once again demonstrated how exchange listing announcements can trigger price movements in the crypto market.

Upbit to Launch Three Trading Pairs for ICP

In its announcement, Upbit confirmed that three different trading markets will be opened for Internet Computer (ICP). Users will be able to trade ICP with the following pairs:

KRW (South Korean Won)

BTC

USDT

These trading pairs will allow ICP to reach a broader group of investors through both the Korean won market and global crypto pairs. In particular, the addition of the KRW market could make it easier for retail investors in South Korea to access the project. The listing is scheduled to go live on March 11 at 17:00. When a new asset is listed on a high-volume exchange like Upbit, it typically increases the project’s market visibility and liquidity. For this reason, the ICP listing is seen as an important development and is being closely watched by investors.

ICP Price Rises After the Announcement

Following the Upbit listing announcement, the price of Internet Computer (ICP) rose within a short period. Listings on major exchanges often have a positive impact on prices because they expose projects to a wider investor base and increase trading activity.

South Korea’s crypto market is known as one of the most active and high-volume markets in the world. Therefore, listings on major Korean exchanges such as Upbit frequently trigger short-term price movements and are seen as important market catalysts. The rise in ICP’s price indicates that investors reacted quickly to the listing news.

What Is the Internet Computer (ICP) Project?

Internet Computer (ICP) is described as the first blockchain network offering unlimited capacity and web-speed performance. This open-source platform targets industrial users and institutional investors while supporting a wide range of decentralized applications. The platform’s native cryptocurrency is the ICP token. The project was launched by Dominic Williams, founder of the DFINITY Foundation, and is considered one of the largest blockchain initiatives after Bitcoin and Ethereum. Internet Computer aims to provide infrastructure for smart contracts and cryptographic applications, while also seeking to eliminate security vulnerabilities and reduce reliance on centralized service providers.

Evaluation

Upbit’s listing announcement for Internet Computer (ICP) is seen as an important development for the project. Opening new trading pairs on a large, high-volume exchange can increase both liquidity and market exposure, allowing the project to reach a wider audience of investors. Such listings often improve a project’s market presence and support trading volume. The price increase following the announcement suggests that the market reacted positively. Analysts note that exchange listings in highly active crypto markets like South Korea can significantly influence short-term price movements.

The transaction limitations on the Bitcoin network have pushed developers toward sidechain solutions. Bitfinity Network positions itself not as a “savior,” but as a technical solution layer. With Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, it enables Solidity-based projects to integrate into the Bitcoin ecosystem. Through sharding architecture, it offers a theoretical throughput of 1000+ TPS.

What is Bitfinity Network?

Bitfinity Network is a high-performance Layer-2 sidechain built for Bitcoin. It is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing Solidity developers to deploy scalable and fast applications on Bitcoin. The network aims to maintain Bitcoin’s security while enabling faster and lower-cost transactions and supports managing assets like Runes and Ordinals via smart contracts. Sharding enables over 1000 TPS, and transactions finalize in 2–3 seconds.

Team and Founders

Bitfinity was founded by Artia Moghbel and Jacob Philips. Robert Lauko serves as CEO, and Michael Lee as VP of Marketing. Former director Arthur Falls and, according to some sources, co-founder Max Chamberlin also contributed. The team is composed of blockchain and crypto veterans. Bitfinity is backed by investors such as Polychain Capital and ParaFi Capital.

Financial Backing and Investors

Total funding: USD 19 million. In the latest round, USD 7 million was raised at a valuation of USD 130 million. Key investors include Polychain Capital, ParaFi Capital, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Warburg Serres, Dokia Capital, Draft Ventures, Beacon Fund, and 9 Yards Capital.

Key Ecosystem Partnerships:

Concept and Functionality

Bitfinity operates parallel to Bitcoin’s security layer rather than replacing it. Sharding enables transaction finality in 2–3 seconds, supporting high scalability. Developers can deploy applications by only changing the RPC endpoint, though the long-term security implications are being closely monitored.

Bitfinity is fully Ethereum-compatible, allowing developers to work with Solidity without rewriting code. Users benefit from fast, low-cost transactions.

Built on the Internet Computer, the platform provides high throughput and scalability. Its core SputnikVM, full toolchain support, gasless meta-transactions, and native Bitcoin integration make it one of the most advanced EVMs available.

Transaction fees are paid in BITFINITY (BTF), which is used as the base token in Solidity contracts.

The Neuro Bridge enables trustless, decentralized asset transfers without compromising security.

Governance

Bitfinity DAO manages the network’s decentralized governance. BFT tokens are used for voting on protocol decisions. The council oversees high-level decisions, with investors and ecosystem partners participating in governance.

Advanced Technical Features

Bitfinity increases cross-chain speeds (Bitcoin Bitfinity Ethereum/ICP) through asynchronous tokens and parallel transaction processing. On-chain and off-chain components are separated to optimize data management. Bitcoin’s security is preserved while achieving Ethereum-like speed; for example, BTC or Runes transactions are much faster and cheaper than on Ethereum.

Milestones

Features

The Bitfinity ecosystem currently hosts over 100 projects. Fast block times and sharding enable high throughput. Runes and Ordinals support adds more functionality for Bitcoin assets. BTC staking will allow users to earn rewards soon. The infrastructure is quantum-resistant, and in 2026, privacy-focused AI integrations will enhance secure and intelligent operations.

Integration Network

Bitfinity’s technical capacity extends beyond itself. Infrastructure projects like Omnity, Pell, and LayerEdge deepen Bitcoin Layer-2 solutions, while Sonic, DEX HUB, and IceCreamSwap manage DeFi liquidity. NFT marketplaces like YUKU, AI-focused ventures like AITECH Labs, and cross-chain projects like Movement Labs form an integrated ecosystem. Bitcoin Virtual Machine and Nubit partnerships demonstrate close alignment with Bitcoin’s core technology.

Internet Computer (ICP) has continued its notable rally in the crypto market in recent days, once again attracting strong investor interest. After a long period of consolidation and sideways price action, ICP has staged a powerful recovery, rising consistently over the past few days. This surge has allowed ICP to stand out in the broader market, especially during periods when Bitcoin has experienced short-term pullbacks. With rising trading volume and increasing investor participation, ICP has emerged among the top daily gainers, signaling the potential for higher highs and higher lows in the short term.

Main Reason Behind ICP’s Price Increase

The primary catalyst behind ICP’s price surge is the Mission 70 whitepaper published by DFINITY. Released on January 13, 2026, this document outlines a dual strategy aimed at reducing ICP inflation by at least 70% by the end of the year. On the supply side, reforms are expected to account for 44% of the total reduction, including adjustments to voting rewards, node provider rewards, and reward pools. On the demand side, the strategy focuses on increasing network usage through on-chain applications and new cloud engine products.

Investors believe the Mission 70 strategy will significantly reduce token supply and have a positive long-term impact on price. These expectations have driven higher market participation and trading activity, with ICP’s 24-hour trading volume rising to nearly $600 million. This sharp increase in volume reflects growing investor confidence and strengthening short-term momentum, increasing the likelihood of ICP testing higher levels in the coming days.

Technical Analysis: Resistance and Support Levels

ICP’s recent recovery began from around the $3 low and has pushed the price to approximately $4.5, representing a gain of nearly 50% in a short time. Weekly charts indicate that ICP is consolidating just below a critical supply zone between $4.8 and $5.9. A clean breakout above this range would be an important signal for the sustainability of the uptrend.

Momentum indicators support the bullish outlook: the MACD points to continued upside momentum, while the RSI reflects increasing demand and buying pressure. These technical signals suggest ICP could continue its rally by forming higher highs and higher lows.

ICP’s Market Performance and Daily Gains

Over the past 24 hours, ICP has surged by more than 25%, closing its second consecutive session in positive territory. According to CoinGecko data, ICP ranked at the top of the daily performance table among the top 100 cryptocurrencies. While this rise aligns with broader market movements, ecosystem-specific fundamental developments have further strengthened investor confidence.

Evaluation

ICP’s recent rally is strongly supported by the Mission 70 reforms and the sharp increase in trading volume. Reduced supply and rising demand are reinforcing price action in the short term. The key resistance zone lies between $4.8 and $5.9; a break above this area could open the door for a move toward the $10 target. For investors, the key takeaway is that improving supply–demand dynamics and growing network usage are major factors driving ICP’s price higher in the near term.

Also, you can freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section.

Asked for his views on the crypto and blockchain world, where he has worked for almost 10 years, Danny Williams of the Dfinity Foundation does not mince his words.

The investment in “snake oil” has become even more preposterous. “Who has the best snake oil? I’m going to invest in that because their marketing is better,” Williams had said previously to The Block. These stories are spread, and people are gullible. I think this is the most important challenge that the industry is facing today.

Williams founded the Dfinity Foundation, which developed and largely contributed to the development of the Internet Computer Protocol, and acts as its chief scientist. A few years back, Dfinity, which raised $195 million from a number of top financial organizations like Polychain Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, was one of the most anticipated projects in the industry. Zurich-based Dfinity is a nonprofit in the formal sense.

The Dfinity Foundation, which Williams asserts possesses “1,000 years” of R&D experience and created the Internet computer blockchain, is clearly highly regarded by Williams and his colleagues. In the other part of the business world, he isn’t so philanthropic.

I’ll be honest: there are piles of rubbish. According to him in a recent interview, almost all blockchains are waste and scams. The secondary significance is technology now. Websites perpetuate that the product is finished or doing something it isn’t, and that is no more than which person can spin the best story.

Williams Criticizes Major Blockchains, Praises ICP Potential

Williams recognizes the role of blockchains like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche in creating an efficient and scalable internet, but he points out the fact that their limitations are being ignored. However, he believes that the Internet Computer Protocol, which he refers to as the “sole third-generation” blockchain, could open up an entirely new era of entirely blockchain-based online transactions.

Despite the fact that Williams recognizes that some of the most-known blockchains are good at processing transactions, he is skeptical that they will be able to create a new decentralized internet that will be widely used by the general population.

“A blockchain is a kind of compute platform, and it can either be like a traditional blockchain that does compute sequentially, like Ethereum, Solana, or it can be a third-generation blockchain that can scale and compute” he stated that this would allow for the construction of web3 platforms, such as on-chain social networks, more effectively.

“Take a picture with your phone, three megabytes,” Williams said, attempting to demonstrate how inefficient web3 is at the moment. Putting that on Ethereum would set you back $110,000. Additionally, he mentioned that the process of uploading it would be expensive, costing around $400 on Solana.

Dfinity’s Internet Computer Protocol Faces Challenges

Developers of Internet computers believed they were unique in 2021.

At the heart of an Internet computer is a blockchain network that operates at web speed with unlimited capacity, addressing the ‘blockchain trilemma’ by delivering a decentralized, secure, and scalable blockchain network, as per the Dfinity Foundation.

While Internet computers may assert the technical superiority of alternative blockchains, the protocol has been time-challenged. The Dfinity Foundation put off the launch of the Internet Computer Protocol at the end of 2018, and it went live two and a half years later.

“At launch, Williams said that ‘in 10 years, the broader tech community will recognize that the Internet Computer is headed on a trajectory to become humanity’s number one compute platform for creating software and the Open Internet,’” (ICPs, 2021).

Messari research highlights that the launch to the public “bordered the release of the Internet Computer’s source code” and “the ICP utility token’s transaction and governance functionalities.” According to CoinGecko, ICP’s value has collapsed after reaching $400 and an $18 billion market cap in May 2021. The end of last year witnessed the improvement of ICP prices.

The aspiration to establish a global web 3.0 that’s “open and free,” connected by a protocol across millions of computers, resonates with many. Let’s delve into whether ICP represents a sound investment and whether a resurgence is plausible, examining how Internet Computer functions.

Internet Computer (ICP) Price Prediction

As of now, the price of Internet Computer stands at $12.984, with a 24-hour trading volume of $246.56 million and a market capitalization of $5.96 billion. The market dominance of ICP is 0.30%, with a decrease of -4.13% in the last 24 hours. The sentiment for ICP’s price prediction appears bullish, with a Fear & Greed Index reading of 74, indicating investor greed. The circulating supply of ICP is 459.36 million out of a maximum supply of 488.51 million ICP. ICP holds the #12 ranking in the Layer 1 sector based on market cap.

ICP Price Analysis

The current ICP price analysis suggests a bearish trend, with the strongest resistance at $14.228. Despite initial bullish momentum driving the price to $12.984, sudden fluctuations hint at a potential reversal in the prevailing trend. Recent data shows ICP’s valuation at $12.984, underlining the dynamic nature of the cryptocurrency market and the unpredictability witnessed during specific periods.

Recent Developments

ICP’s price exhibits significant volatility, largely influenced by broader cryptocurrency market sentiment. Bollinger Bands analysis indicates the current ICP price is below the upper band threshold, potentially encountering resistance at $13.179, while stability is observed around $12.710. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 46, suggesting a growing market sentiment, albeit with a downward trend, indicating potential bearish conditions.

Cryptocurrency expert Crypto Jebb Information unveils his highly anticipated list of top altcoin picks for the approaching 2024-2025 bull market, poised for significant growth. Let’s explore these potential gems:

Best Altcoins for Next Bull Run

Solana (SOL): Reigns supreme as Jebb’s top choice, praised for its innovative solutions to scalability, security, and decentralization. Solana boasts lightning-fast transactions (over 50,000 per second!) and a recent price surge from $22 to $122. Its technological advancements, mainstream adoption, and impressive performance solidify Solana’s position as a standout investment.

Cardano (ADA): Despite its strong foundation led by Charles Hoskinson and advanced technology, Cardano lands slightly lower due to its smaller total value locked (TVL) and limited adoption of major decentralized applications.

Chainlink (LINK): Plays a pivotal role in connecting real-world data to blockchain networks, making it an indispensable component for numerous projects.

Polkadot (DOT): Championing interoperability, Polkadot seeks to create a seamless ecosystem where various blockchains can collaborate, eliminating isolated blockchain industries.

What is Polkadot ($DOT)?

Internet Computer (ICP): Bounces back from initial setbacks, demonstrating resilience and potential for growth. ICP offers autonomous serverless cloud functionality for decentralized applications.

Uniswap (UNI): A major player in the DEX space, Uniswap shines with its efficient and secure trading platform. Its established track record, high trading volume, and low inflation make it an attractive investment.

XRP: Renowned for its speed and association with Ripple, XRP has gained renewed confidence after recent legal victories against the SEC. However, concerns linger regarding released functionalities during the legal battle.

Cosmos (ATOM): Dubbed the “blockchain for building blockchains,” Cosmos empowers users to create high-performing blockchains. With a strong community and impressive staking rewards (over 11%), Cosmos presents a compelling investment opportunity.

Near Protocol (NEAR): Aims to simplify web 3 development by providing familiar programming tools like JavaScript and Rust for building decentralized applications.

Arbitrum (ARB): A layer two solution on Ethereum designed to boost decentralized app speed. While concerns exist about tokenomics and a large token supply release, Jebb predicts a 10x market cap increase (to over $20 billion) in the coming bull market.

Beyond the Hype:

While 2024 paints a promising picture for altcoins, showcasing the transformative potential of blockchain technology with features like fast transactions and innovative solutions, Jebb emphasizes the importance of careful navigation and strategic investment. Opportunities abound, but only those who make informed decisions will reap the rewards.
