A Russian national was taken into custody in Busan, South Korea, in connection with a failed crypto robbery attempt in Seoul. One of three suspects who allegedly tried to steal approximately $730,000 in cash was arrested several days after the incident.

Lured with a Fake Crypto Deal

According to local media reports, the incident occurred on May 21 at a hotel in Seoul’s Gangseo District. The suspects invited 10 Korean investors to the hotel under the pretense of a cryptocurrency transaction. Two were taken to a room while the others waited in the lobby. Inside, two suspects—wearing bulletproof vests, and armed with a fake handgun and a telescopic baton—attacked the victims and tied their hands.

Global Manhunt Launched for Escaped Suspects

One of the victims managed to escape and alerted the authorities, forcing the suspects to flee the scene without taking any money. Police found one injured person in the lobby and discovered a variety of tools in the suspects’ room, including a money counter, fake weapons, and equipment prepared for the robbery.

Although a request was made the next day to block the suspects from leaving the country, two had already fled. South Korean police announced that a global search was underway with Interpol cooperation to locate the fugitives. Meanwhile, the arrested suspect is being questioned, and prosecutors are preparing to request a detention warrant.

Rise in Violence Across the Crypto World

This incident highlights the increasing number of violence-related crimes linked to the crypto world. Individuals conducting high-value transactions have recently become targets of kidnappings and ransom attempts.

On May 13, the family of Pierre Noizat, CEO of the French crypto exchange Paymium, was the target of a similar kidnapping attempt. Likewise, an investor in Manhattan has been accused of kidnapping and torturing an Italian man to gain access to digital assets.

As such cases become more frequent, crypto investors and executives are turning to private security services. On May 18, security firm Infinite Risks International reported a rise in protection service requests from prominent figures in the crypto industry.

An Argentine lawyer has requested a global arrest warrant for Hayden Davis, the creator of the LIBRA token.

Argentine Lawyer Requests Global Arrest Warrant for LIBRA Token Creator Hayden Davis

Argentine lawyer Gregorio Dalbon has requested a global arrest warrant for Hayden Davis, the creator of the LIBRA token. Dalbon submitted the request to prosecutor Eduardo Taiano and judge María Servini, who are investigating President Javier Milei‘s involvement in the memecoin. Dalbon has called for Interpol Red Notice to be issued for Davis. This request was reported on March 11 by local media outlets Página 12 and Perfil.

Dalbon stated that if Davis remains free, he could have access to large sums of money, which might allow him to flee the US or go into hiding. “His central role in the creation of LIBRA cryptocurrency, combined with the international impact of the case, increases the likelihood that he may take steps to evade justice,” the filing reportedly stated.

Dalbon, who also represented former Argentine President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, has requested Davis’ arrest and an Interpol Red Notice. Interpol is the largest international police organization, capable of issuing Red Notices that request law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest someone.

Hayden Davis at the Center of Price Manipulation and Payment Allegations

On February 14, the LIBRA token was created and quickly reached a value of $4 billion. However, its creators, holding the majority of the token’s supply, rapidly sold off their holdings, causing the price to crash. This event has been described by many as a pump-and-dump (price manipulation) scheme.

A few days later, several lawyers filed fraud charges against President Milei in an Argentine criminal court. Milei claimed he did not promote LIBRA but only spread information about it.

Davis, in a lengthy interview with YouTuber Coffeezilla, defended LIBRA as a failure rather than a scam. Davis and his firm Kelsier Ventures were the biggest beneficiaries from the token’s launch. Davis claimed to have earned $100 million but said he did not own the tokens and would not sell them.

It was later reported that Davis sent a message claiming he had paid Milei’s sister Karina to get the president to share the memecoin details on X. However, Davis denied making any such payment and stated there was no record of the message on his phone.

Interpol has issued a Red Notice for Richard Heart, the founder of Hex, under his legal name Richard Schueler, on allegations of tax evasion and assault.

Allegations Against Richard Heart

The Red Notice, issued at the request of Finnish authorities, alleges that Heart is guilty of tax fraud between June 2, 2020, and April 2, 2024. It also accuses him of assaulting a 16-year-old victim, reportedly dragging the victim by their hair and knocking them down in a stairwell.

Though a Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant, it acts as a request for law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest the individual. The allegations were first detailed in a remand order issued three months ago, on September 13, 2024.

Heart Remains Active on Social Media

Despite the charges, Richard Heart has continued to remain active on social media platforms. In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post on December 21, he indirectly addressed the situation, saying:

“If the haters really wanted to get me down, they could raise more than the $27M I did for medical research.”

Heart further stated, “Nothing makes haters angrier than success. Every time they think of you, it reminds them how they’re not doing half what they could.”

Ongoing SEC Lawsuit

Heart is also entangled in a lawsuit with the SEC over the alleged unregistered offerings of Hex, PulseChain (PLS), and PulseX (PSLX). The SEC claims he raised over $1 billion through these token sales, touting them as “a pathway to grandiose wealth for investors.”

In August 2024, Heart requested the dismissal of the $1 billion lawsuit, but the SEC argued that it holds full authority to pursue the case.

As of this publication, Richard Heart has not publicly commented on the Red Notice or the ongoing legal challenges.
