Recent Gold Movements and Investor Behavior

Gold has surged in 2025 due to interest rate cut expectations, geopolitical risks, and central bank diversification away from the U.S. dollar. After reaching a record $4,381 per ounce, gold has retreated to $4,066.

JP Morgan strategists attribute the recent decline not to retail investors exiting gold ETFs, but to trend-following commodity trading advisors taking profits on gold futures.

They note that in 2023 and most of 2024, retail investors turned to bonds to hedge rising equity prices. However, in 2025, this trend has not continued, with gold becoming the preferred hedge alongside equities.

Gold Investment Outlook

JP Morgan strategists predict that stock prices will continue rising over the next three years, with equity allocations reaching 54.6%, the peak seen during the dot-com bubble. At the same time, bond and cash positions are projected to increase by $7 trillion annually.

Using ETFs as a proxy, analysts calculate that global nonbank investors could increase their gold allocation from 2.6% to 4.6%, implying that gold prices could nearly double by 2028 if these projections hold.

Gold as a Portfolio Diversifier

Gold is not only a store of value but also a strong portfolio diversifier against equity risk. JP Morgan emphasizes that long-term capital allocators, including sovereign wealth funds, central banks, and asset managers, are likely to increase gold exposure.

Doge has outperformed top cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, surging almost 20% in the past week to $0.2543. This marks its highest price since August 13, according to CoinGecko. Meanwhile, most other coins in the top 10 recorded smaller gains, making DOGE one of the strongest altcoin movers in recent days. 

However, Dogecoin still trades far below its 2021 all-time high above $0.73. Analysts say the lack of large-scale treasury purchases and ETF inflows has kept DOGE from reaching new records. That dynamic is now starting to shift. 

CleanCore Solutions Accumulates 500M DOGE 

On Monday, CleanCore Solutions, the first publicly traded Dogecoin treasury (NYSE American: ZONE), announced its debut DOGE purchase. By Thursday, it revealed another major buy, bringing its total holdings to over 500 million DOGE—worth more than $125 million.

The company, established with the support of House of Doge, calls itself the “official Dogecoin treasury.” CleanCore CIO and House of Doge CEO Marco Margiotta said their vision is to position DOGE as a reserve asset while expanding its use in payments, tokenization, staking-like products, and global remittances. 

ZONE shares have risen 6% this week and are up more than 200% since January. 

First U.S. Dogecoin ETF Set to Debut 

The rally also comes ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the Rex-Osprey Dogecoin ETF, trading under the ticker DOJE. The fund is scheduled to begin trading Friday after a short delay. 

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted this is the first-ever U.S. ETF designed around an asset “with no utility on purpose,” highlighting its unique place in the crypto market. 

Investors Grow More Bullish on DOGE 

Prediction market Myriad shows rising optimism among traders. Participants now assign a 66.6% probability that Dogecoin will climb to $0.30 rather than fall to $0.15. That confidence has grown by 15% over the past week as DOGE’s price momentum accelerated. 

Dogecoin’s surge is being fueled by a powerful combination of corporate treasury backing and the introduction of new institutional products like ETFs, sparking renewed investor interest.

CRCL Shares Surge On First Trading Day

Listed under the CRCL ticker on the New York Stock Exchange, Circle’s stock opened at $31 and soared to close at $82 — marking a 167% gain by end of day. At one point during trading, it was up 235%, a clear signal of strong appetite for stablecoin-related investments.

To meet the overwhelming interest, Circle increased its IPO offering to a total of $1.05 billion, with 34 million shares hitting the market.

BlackRock, ARK Drive Institutional Demand

Much of the demand was driven by the involvement of institutional giants. On May 28, BlackRock revealed interest in taking a 10% stake in the IPO. At the same time, Cathie Wood’s ARK Investment was reportedly looking to buy $150 million worth of shares.

“I cannot believe our years of support led to this throwaway allocation,” Dorman wrote. “We left Wall Street to support crypto-native projects, and now you’ve come full Circle.”

His comments highlighted deeper tensions between crypto-native firms and traditional finance mindsets returning to dominate the space.

Target Raised As Demand Surges

Circle, the issuer behind the popular stablecoin USDC, has officially increased its initial public offering (IPO) target to $896 million, according to a June 2 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company now plans to offer 32 million shares, up from 24 million, at a price range of $27 to $28 per share — higher than its previous $24 to $26 range.

The company has not issued public comments due to the mandatory “quiet period” before an IPO, which restricts statements that could influence investor behavior.

Stablecoin Adoption Fuels Optimism

Circle’s IPO adjustment comes at a time when stablecoin usage is expanding rapidly. Between January 2023 and February 2025, a staggering $94.2 billion in stablecoin transactions have been settled. This points to the growing role of digital dollars in global payment infrastructure.
