The integration is supported by Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which went live on Solana’s mainnet on May 19. CCIP enables seamless data transfers between Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) environments, offering cost-effective scalability.

“Expanding to Solana unlocks a high-speed, high-capacity environment where Maple’s products can reach a broader class of users — from institutions to advanced DeFi participants,” said CEO Sid Powell.

Rising Competition On Solana

Solana’s decentralized finance landscape is booming. Its total value locked (TVL) has soared from $1.4 billion in December 2023 to $8.4 billion today — a 500% increase. This growth opens the door for platforms like Maple to gain ground.

With $1.3 billion in current TVL, Maple will now face competition from Solana-native lending protocols such as Save, margin.fi, Rain.fi, and Port Finance. While Ethereum remains dominant with $61.4 billion in on-chain assets, the race among blockchains for DeFi dominance is intensifying.

Investors have withdrawn over $200 million from MarginFi in favor of rival platforms like Solend and Kamino. Solend’s token airdrop announcement attracted substantial inflows, driving 24-hour trading volume to $17 million. Kamino witnessed the most significant surge, onboarding $81 million in fresh deposits.

Solend founder 0xRooter accused MarginFi of spreading false narratives and engaging in smear campaigns.

“Last July, MarginFi attempted to discredit Solend and its peers through backchannels. They spread misinformation and constantly badmouthed Solend to boost their own engagement.”

Solend’s native token soared by 30%, climbing from $1.36 to $1.77. However, the rally proved short-lived, with prices quickly retracing back to the $1.36 range.

Despite the recent turmoil, MarginFi remains Solana’s second-largest DeFi platform.

Some analysts are weighing the possibility of Solana’s network overtaking its competitor Ethereum, considering it offers cheaper and faster transactions. According to trader Evnass6, Solana’s performance provides a better user experience than Ethereum’s.

Several factors, including increased network activity and the launch of the SPL token, are contributing to the price increase. However, a more comprehensive analysis is needed to determine whether the current valuation is correct and whether there will be a rise above 100 dollars.

Airdrop Madness and Success of Jito Support SOL Price

The current rise in SOL price is backed by the airdrop mania that resulted in Solana’s Saga phone being completely sold out and trading at high prices on secondary markets.

Solana captured attention when major centralized exchanges listed the SPL token, JITO, inspired by Ethereum’s Lido’s liquid staking protocol, on December 7. Jito’s airdrop generated impressive profits for participants, and in the first few hours following the transaction, its market value surpassed $300 million. Successful listings on Coinbase and Binance also increased the demand for other airdrops and token launches on the Solana network.

A turning point occurred with the listing of the memecoin BONK on Coinbase on December 14, along with Solana’s Saga phone. Each phone bought approximately 30 million BONK.

DApp Activity Also Supports Solana (SOL) ‘s Rise

As evidenced by the growth of Solana’s network in terms of DApps, SOL’s rise extends beyond current memecoins. Just three weeks ago, on November 29, Solana’s TVL (total value locked) was only $654 million, representing a market share of just 1.4%.
