A surprising development has taken place in the crypto markets. LayerZero Labs, together with the LayerZero (ZRO) ecosystem behind it, officially announced a new Layer-1 blockchain called “Zero.” Simultaneously with the announcement, it was revealed that the company secured strategic investments from financial giants Citadel Securities and ARK Invest, while also forming partnerships with DTCC and Google Cloud. Despite all these positive developments, an unexpected pullback in the price of ZRO drew investors’ attention.

Strategic Investment from Citadel and ARK Invest

According to the announcement, both Citadel Securities and ARK Invest purchased LayerZero’s native token, ZRO. Citadel’s direct token investment is particularly notable, considering the firm’s historical investment strategies.

Together with LayerZero, Citadel Securities will evaluate how the Zero blockchain can be utilized in areas such as:

Trading infrastructure

Clearing and settlement processes

Market structure optimization

On the ARK Invest side, Cathie Wood not only acquired ZRO tokens but also took a direct equity stake in LayerZero Labs, describing the development as “a historic opportunity at the intersection of finance and the internet.”

Related: What Is LayerZero?

Another key highlight of LayerZero’s announcement was the strategic partnerships formed with two globally leading institutions in technology and financial infrastructure.

Google Cloud aims to explore next-generation use cases alongside LayerZero, including blockchain-based micropayments, data sharing, and resource trading for AI agents. This collaboration is seen as an important step toward integrating machine economies and autonomous digital actors into financial systems.

Meanwhile, DTCC plans to examine Zero’s blockchain infrastructure for the tokenization of highly liquid traditional financial assets such as equities, ETFs, and U.S. Treasury bonds. In addition, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) announced it will evaluate whether Zero can meet institutional market requirements, including 24/7 continuous trading, tokenized collateral, and other enterprise-level demands.

These developments stand out as major steps reinforcing Zero’s ambition to bridge traditional finance and blockchain technology.

What Is LayerZero’s “Zero” Blockchain?

Introduced by LayerZero Labs, Zero is positioned as a next-generation Layer-1 blockchain designed for institutional-grade financial markets. The project uses a heterogeneous architecture and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) to separate transaction execution from verification.

According to the company’s claims, Zero:

Can reach approximately 2 million transactions per second

Can reduce transaction fees to as low as one-millionth of a dollar

Offers theoretically unlimited block space

LayerZero also asserts that, in terms of performance, Zero delivers roughly 100,000 times the throughput of Ethereum and 500 times that of Solana.

Evaluation

By bringing together major institutions such as Citadel, ARK Invest, DTCC, and Google Cloud under the Zero blockchain initiative, LayerZero has taken what many view as a historic step toward institutional blockchain adoption. Although short-term volatility has been observed in the price of ZRO, these developments indicate that, in the long term, the LayerZero ecosystem could play a significant role in institutional financial infrastructure.

In the world of crypto assets, the “buyback” strategy became highly popular in 2025, and Hyperliquid emerged as one of the leading projects in this area.

According to reports, since the beginning of 2025, Hyperliquid has spent approximately 644–645 million USD on token buybacks.

This figure represents around 46% of all token buybacks.

The number of tokens repurchased is reported to be at least 21.36 million HYPE, which corresponds to approximately 2.1% of the total token supply.

In short, while the “buyback” strategy dominates the market conversation, Hyperliquid has managed to capture a significant portion almost on its own.

Why So Fast and Massive?

There are several notable factors behind Hyperliquid’s aggressive approach:

Commitment to the revenue model
Hyperliquid directs a portion of its revenue from trading fees, derivatives volume, and spot transactions toward its buyback program. Reports indicate that a fixed percentage of the revenue generated from these activities is used to repurchase HYPE tokens.

Effort to reduce market supply pressure
The purpose of buybacks is to decrease the circulating token supply and create value for token holders. The lower the supply, the more pronounced the effect of demand can become.

High-volume trading activity
For instance, in August 2025, Hyperliquid reportedly broke records in derivative trading volume and trading fees, which in turn provided substantial funding for its buyback program.

Market Position

In terms of buybacks, the second-largest project is LayerZero, which announced spending around 150 million USD to repurchase its ZRO tokens—approximately 5% of its supply. However, this move is considered a one-time initiative, whereas Hyperliquid continues to operate a consistent and systematic buyback program.

Across the industry, since the beginning of 2025, a total of over 1.40 billion USD has been spent on token buybacks. Within this figure, Hyperliquid’s share is particularly dominant. As a result, Hyperliquid has outpaced not only its competitors but also surpassed the combined total of most other projects’ buyback expenditures.

Although this appears to be a strong move, there are some important risks investors should consider:

A solid buyback program depends on consistent revenue sources. If trading volume or fee income declines, the sustainability of buybacks could come into question.

Token supply unlocks and vesting schedules may create future selling pressure. Some reports highlight that upcoming unlocks for HYPE could pose market risks.

A buyback program alone does not guarantee price appreciation; market sentiment, overall crypto conditions, and macroeconomic factors all play significant roles.

Corn (CORN) is a brand aimed at making Web3 more engaging, accessible, and fun. Comprising applications, protocols, games, and cultural projects, each Corn endeavor has its own purpose, united by a single goal: proving the fun nature of crypto. At its core is the Corn Token ($CORN), which connects the brand and its efforts, rewarding participation and creating a culture-driven economy. Let’s explore what Corn is and its uses in detail.

What is Corn (CORN)?

Project is a brand that blends financial innovation with culture, with each project emphasizing crypto’s fun side. The Corn Token ($CORN), using the LayerZero OFT standard, enables seamless cross-chain transfers between Corn Network, Ethereum Mainnet, and Solana (88+ LayerZero-supported chains). Bridging burns tokens on the source chain and mints them on the destination chain, preserving total supply. Corn Network is Bitcoin’s Utility Layer, making Bitcoin accessible for optimized yield opportunities. $BTCN (Bitcorn), a 1:1 BTC-backed hybrid token, bridges Bitcoin to Ethereum and EVM for DeFi use. The Bitcoin Clearing House on Ethereum Mainnet manages $BTCN mint/redemption, starting with $cbBTC and $wBTC, with custody by Coinbase and BitGo.

Purpose of Corn

The project aims to unlock Bitcoin’s dormant liquidity to grow BTCFi. Despite Bitcoin being the most trusted currency, its programmability is limited; $BTCN brings Bitcoin to EVM, enhancing its DeFi utility. The popCORN System allows $CORN stakers to direct yield to whitelisted applications, inspired by Curve Finance’s ve model, aligning users, developers, and liquidity providers for the long term. It builds a sustainable ecosystem instead of short-term incentives, making Bitcoin the most liquid DeFi asset.

How Does It Work?

Project operates with $CORN and $BTCN; the Bitcoin Clearing House manages $BTCN mint/redemption, and LayerZero enables bridging. $BTCN is backed 1:1 by $cbBTC and $wBTC; mint caps are managed by the Risk Council (initially 1000 BTC each).

popCORN System:

$CORN stakers vote or delegate yield ($BTCN and $CORN) to whitelisted protocols.

Protocols offer bribes for $CORN votes, attracting liquidity and users.

$popCORN, the non-transferable version of $CORN; 21% instantly claimable, 79% vests linearly over 21 weeks.

$BTCN Bridging:

LayerZero Bridge: Acquire $BTCN by bridging $cbBTC or $wBTC.

Wrapped Bitcorn (wBTCN): ERC-20 wrapper for DeFi protocols.

Bitcoin Clearing House:

1:1 swaps, zero fees/slippage/limits.

Risk Council manages cap increases and whitelist.

Corn Use Cases

The project offers Bitcoin holders the following opportunities:

BTCFi: Use $BTCN for DeFi (lending, liquidity).

Yield Distribution: $CORN stakers direct yield via popCORN.

Cross-Chain: LayerZero enables Ethereum/Solana integration.

Security: Babylon Bitcoin staking for a Bitcoin-backed network.

Usage Steps:

Mint $BTCN (via Clearing House).

Stake $CORN to earn popCORN.

Vote or delegate yield to protocols.

Convert $popCORN to $CORN via vesting.

Advantages of Corn

Bitcoin-Focused: Makes Bitcoin liquid and secure in DeFi.

Fairness: popCORN allows stakers to direct yield.

Sustainability: Long-term alignment over short-term incentives.

Security: Coinbase/BitGo custody, Arbitrum Orbit L2.

Cross-Chain: LayerZero integration with 88+ chains.

South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, Upbit, announced today that it will be listing the CYBER (CYBER) token. Following this news, the altcoin surged nearly 200%, reaching its highest level in 9 months.

Upbit Lists CYBER

CYBER serves as the utility and governance token of its own chain. It features a multi-chain structure using LayerZero’s OFT token standard for cross-chain interoperability. The Cyber network aims to enhance crypto engagement by integrating social dynamics and artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Built on OP Stack, this Layer 2 blockchain accelerates ecosystem growth with EVM-based applications and modular development.

Already Listed on Multiple Exchanges

CYBER was already available for trading on Binance, Bitget, MEXC, and South Korea’s leading exchange Bithumb. However, being listed on market leader Upbit significantly boosted investor interest.

Price and Market Cap Surge

The market cap jumped 81.23% in the past 24 hours, reaching $158.54 million. CYBER skyrocketed from $1.83 to $5.34, marking an impressive ~200% rally. At the time of writing, the price was hovering around $3.41.

This listing highlights both the influence of the South Korean market on crypto and the strong impact that exchange announcements can have on altcoin prices.

As artificial intelligence accelerates the global need for robust data infrastructure, private equity powerhouse Advent International has struck a major deal to lead the charge. The firm announced it will acquire a controlling interest in LayerZero, a critical supplier of power systems for data centers.

Sources close to the matter revealed the deal values LayerZero at approximately $1 billion, highlighting the company’s rising importance amid AI-driven infrastructure demands.

Powering the Future of AI and High-Performance Computing

Based in Aurora, Ohio, LayerZero manufactures equipment such as static transfer switches, remote power panels, and power distribution units — all essential for ensuring the reliable flow of electricity within data centers.

“As data centers evolve to support the growing needs of AI and high-performance computing, our role has become even more important,” said co-founder Milind Bhanoo.

You Might Be Interested In: Elon Musk Talks About the Name of a New Memecoin!

The recent AI boom, led by platforms like ChatGPT, has significantly increased the demand for secure and efficient energy solutions across digital infrastructure facilities.

Advent to Scale Up LayerZero’s Manufacturing and Reach

Once the deal closes, co-founders Milind Bhanoo and James Galm will retain minority ownership in LayerZero. Advent plans to help the company scale up manufacturing, broaden its customer base, and expand service capabilities globally.

Former Schneider Electric North America CEO and current Advent operating partner Annette Clayton will serve as Chair of LayerZero post-acquisition, bringing deep industry experience to the company’s next growth phase.

Private Equity Activity Heats Up Again

The deal marks a resurgence in private equity investments after months of cautious slowdown due to macroeconomic uncertainty and trade barriers. Renewed market confidence has reignited appetite for strategic acquisitions.

Earlier this June, Advent also announced a $6.03 billion acquisition of precision instrument maker Spectris, signaling an aggressive expansion in high-tech industries.

As global markets wade through uncertainty, gold is once again capturing investor attention. No longer limited to bars or ETFs, gold is now entering the digital era in full force. The latest example? A major innovation from Tether.

The stablecoin giant has launched XAUt0, an omnichain version of its gold-backed token XAUt, on TON (The Open Network), marking a new chapter in digital precious metals.

A New Standard in Gold Investing

Built on LayerZero’s “Omnichain Fungible Token” standard, XAUt0 enables seamless transfers across blockchains without using wrapping mechanisms or middlechains. This technical leap allows broader and more flexible access to digital gold.

You Might Be Interested In: Elon Musk Talks About the Name of a New Memecoin!

XAUt, available only on Ethereum, is currently the largest gold-backed stablecoin by market cap at $832 million, closely followed by Pax Gold at $811 million. Tether backs the token with over 7.7 tons of physical gold stored in a Swiss vault, according to its Q1 2025 attestation.

The move follows Tether’s launch of USDt on the TON network earlier in 2024 and mirrors the structure of USDT0, its omnichain dollar-pegged token that spans multiple chains through Optimism’s Superchain ecosystem.

Gold Prices Surge Amid Global Uncertainty

Gold prices have surged in 2025, driven largely by economic instability and escalating trade tensions. As of May 30, gold traded at $3,304 per ounce — a 29.5% increase from the previous year.

Gold ETFs have also performed strongly, with the top eight funds gaining over 25% year-to-date. Tether’s XAUt0 is set to compete with such instruments, offering digital asset investors a new way to access gold’s stability in turbulent times.

A significant development has taken place in the world of crypto and finance. Securitize and Ethena have officially announced Converge, a new blockchain network designed specifically for institutional investors. Converge, which is compatible with Ethereum, aims to bridge the gap between decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional finance (TradFi). The network focuses on the tokenization of real world assets (RWAs) and aims to provide institutional investors with a more secure and efficient way to leverage blockchain technology.

Ethereum Compatibility and High Performance

Converge is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing it to seamlessly run Ethereum-based smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). This ensures that existing DeFi protocols and tools can operate on the Converge network without any need for modification.

The network’s initial partners include prominent DeFi projects such as Pendle, Avara (the parent company of Aave Labs), Ethereal, Morpho, and Maple Finance. Custody services will be provided by industry leaders Copper, Fireblocks, Komainu, and Zodia. Interoperability will be supported through LayerZero and Wormhole, while RedStone will handle oracle services.

Ethena and Securitize Make a Major Move

Ethena is preparing to migrate its $6 billion DeFi ecosystem to the Converge network. The company will also offer its yield-bearing USDe token and BUIDL-backed USDtb stablecoin on the platform. At the same time, Securitize will bring its tokenized real world assets to Converge, including BlackRock’s BUIDL token and the newly issued Apollo credit fund token.

Ethena’s native governance token, ENA, will serve as a stakeable asset on the network through sENA, securing the blockchain with a permissioned validator set operated by traditional financial institutions and centralized exchanges. In addition, both USDe and USDtb tokens will function as gas tokens for the Converge network.

New Opportunities for Institutional Investors

Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo stated, “Tokenization by itself is just putting securities on another ledger. But when combined with DeFi innovations, tokenization can unlock massive opportunities.” Ethena Founder Guy Young added that Converge will enable traditional assets to be brought on-chain, creating custom money markets and allowing for the trading of assets that currently do not exist on-chain.

Designed for institutional players, Converge offers a public open network wrapped in a KYC protocol that verifies users’ identities beyond simply whitelisting wallets. This structure ensures a secure and compliant DeFi environment for investors dealing with regulated financial instruments.

Will Converge Become the Future Blockchain Platform?

Converge is expected to become one of the largest platforms that unites traditional and decentralized finance in the coming years. It aims to serve as a critical bridge that allows institutional investors to step into the DeFi world with confidence.

This week promises significant activity in the crypto market. With network upgrades and key economic data on the horizon, investors will closely watch for movements that could influence price trends.

On Monday, the Avalanche (AVAX) network will undergo the Etna upgrade, aiming to enhance network performance. Meanwhile, the FLOKI community is preparing for a much-anticipated marketing announcement. A key development is the ARB token unlock, with 93.65 million ARB tokens worth $91 million being released, potentially increasing selling pressure. Additionally, Ethena and BlackRock will share updates about their stablecoin, USDTb, while Cardano (ADA) will see the unlocking of 18.53 million tokens, valued at $20 million, raising concerns among ADA investors.

On Wednesday, economic reports and gaming partnerships will dominate the agenda. The Eurozone’s annual inflation rate will be announced, which could indirectly impact crypto markets. Another key event is the launch of Captain LaserHawk, a game developed by Ubisoft in collaboration with Arbitrum (ARB), potentially driving interest in ARB. However, the day’s highlight is the FED’s interest rate decision and subsequent statements from FED Chair Jerome Powell. Any rate adjustment or Powell’s comments could lead to volatility in Bitcoin and altcoins.

On Thursday, the focus shifts to the U.S. with the release of GDP figures. Any deviation from expectations could affect market sentiment. Additionally, Coinbase will delist Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), which might raise concerns for Bitcoin-linked projects. The LayerZero community will also hold a referendum to activate the fee switch feature, which could significantly impact ZRO token dynamics.

Finally, on Friday, the U.S. will release the Core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, a key inflation metric. This data could influence how the FED adjusts its policies, potentially driving market volatility.

This week’s developments, including token unlocks for ARB and ADA, may increase selling pressure, while major economic data from the U.S. and FED decisions will shape overall market direction. On a positive note, partnerships like Ubisoft’s Arbitrum-based game might drive interest in specific tokens.

In South Korea, there has been a significant explosion in trading volumes for five altcoins on the Upbit exchange. Notable projects such as BEAM, ZRO, AUCTION, TFUEL, and STG have shown substantial increases in their trading volumes.

Specifically, the trading volume for the BEAM (BEAM) altcoin surged to $63 million in a four-hour period, marking an impressive increase of 212.77%. However, during the same timeframe, BEAM‘s volume on Binance decreased by 39.80%, falling from an average of $6 million to $4 million.

LayerZero (ZRO) has also emerged as another noteworthy token; its trading volume on Upbit experienced a remarkable increase of 365.80%, rising from an average of $41,000 to $190,000 in a one-hour timeframe. In contrast, Binance showed a more moderate increase, with its volume growing from $97,000 to $141,000.

Bounce Token (AUCTION) saw its trading volume on Upbit rise dramatically by 246.49%, increasing from an average of $3,000 to $11,000 in just one hour. However, on Binance, the volume fell by 56.76%, dropping from $4,000 to $2,000.

Similarly, other altcoins like Theta Fuel (TFUEL) and Stargate Finance (STG) followed this trend. TFUEL‘s volume on Upbit surged by 339.14%, reaching $2 million from $418,000, while its volume on Binance slightly decreased from $488,000 to $471,000. Meanwhile, STG increased by 165.54% on Upbit, climbing from $137,000 to $363,000, but saw a decline of 19.60% on Binance, falling from $175,000 to $140,000.

These figures once again highlight the significant impact of fluctuations in South Korea’s cryptocurrency market.

In a unique move, developers of the LayerZero (ZRO) project have introduced a new claim mechanism known as Proof of Donation (PoD). This approach aims to raise funds for the Protocol Guild, a collective funding mechanism for Ethereum developers.

The LayerZero team has been instrumental in the growth of LayerZero and Ethereum, particularly in promoting the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Ethereum’s Layer 2-centric roadmap, and the broader crypto ecosystem.

The PoD mechanism allows users to claim ZRO, LayerZero’s native token, through a donation process. To claim ZRO, users must donate $0.10 USD worth of USDC, USDT, or native ETH per ZRO.

The LayerZero Foundation has pledged to match all donations up to $10 million as a gesture of support.

The ZRO token began trading on spot markets today. Additionally, Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, listed the altcoin for futures trading today. ZRO is currently trading at $3.
