MicroStrategy executive Phong Le recently spoke about the crypto world and the Bitcoins held by MicroStrategy. First, he expressed clarity regarding the company’s perspective on its Bitcoin assets. Then, Le stated that the company would only liquidate its Bitcoins if “there is no way out, that is, in a state of desperation.”

What Does “Last-Resort” Mean?

Phong Le emphasized that the company’s strategy of buying and holding Bitcoin is inherently long-term, and that this approach is both intentional and necessary. The desire to sell is not the company’s main strategy; rather, it would only be an option in case of necessity. A possible scenario in such a case can be described as follows:

If the market value of MSTR shares falls below the company’s net asset value (NAV) and the company cannot find other sources to meet dividend or debt obligations. In such a situation, selling Bitcoin would be considered “mathematically” justifiable. However, Le does not expect this to happen easily.

Despite the decline in share prices, there is no change in MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin-based roadmap.

The company’s founder and chairman, Michael Saylor, reiterated his commitment on X, stating that he will not back down.

On November 17, the company announced the purchase of 8,178 Bitcoins. The value of this purchase is $835.6 million, representing a significant increase compared to previous weeks, as recent weekly average purchases were around 400–500 BTC.

With this latest acquisition, MicroStrategy’s total Bitcoin holdings have risen to 649,870 BTC, valued at approximately $56 billion at current prices.

Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, advises investors to allocate 15% of their portfolios to long-term assets like gold or Bitcoin.

Dalio said, “For the best return and risk balance, 15% of the investment should be in gold or Bitcoin.” However, he emphasized his preference for gold over Bitcoin. He stated that he personally holds “some Bitcoin,” but the amount is small.

Dalio highlighted the economic risks posed by the growing debt burden in the US. “The value of the currency is rapidly eroding,” he warned. The US Treasury may need to issue nearly $12 trillion in new bonds next year. This issue affects other Western countries as well, creating a “debt vicious cycle” globally. Dalio predicted a downturn similar to economic crises in the 1970s and 1930s.

Therefore, he noted that valuable assets like gold and Bitcoin act as “effective diversifiers” during crisis periods. Investors can reduce risks by balancing their portfolios with these assets.

US Debt Crisis and Dalio’s Investment Strategy

The latest US Treasury report shows nearly $1 trillion in new borrowing in Q3, $453 billion more than previous estimates. For Q4, a borrowing expectation of $590 billion exists. Thus, the US government continues to cover budget deficits through debt.

Dalio said other Western countries face similar “debt traps” and their currencies will lose value. In this process, “stable value” assets like gold and Bitcoin will stand out. Dalio also mentioned Bitcoin is a newer, digital alternative to gold but remains skeptical about its acceptance as a reserve currency.

The US may need to issue $12 trillion in bonds next year to roll over its debt. The problem is the currency losing value… Other Western countries face the same situation and will suffer more severely. Bitcoin and gold will continue to gain value against their currencies.

Dalio believes governments won’t adopt Bitcoin as a reserve currency due to its transparent transaction structure and lack of privacy. Still, Bitcoin plays an important role in portfolio diversification.

Current Performance of Gold and Bitcoin

As of July 2025, Bitcoin trades around $118,100, about 4% below its all-time high of $123,230 on July 14. Gold has also reached new historical highs in recent months. Dalio’s portfolio advice increases the appeal of these two assets for investors. Ultimately, Dalio recommends increasing allocations to gold and Bitcoin in portfolio management.

VanEck is launching a new private fund focused on the Avalanche (AVAX) network in June. Named the “VanEck PurposeBuilt Fund,” it will be open only to qualified investors. Additionally, it will provide capital to projects operating in key Web3 sectors. The fund’s management will be handled by the VanEck Digital Assets Alpha Fund (DAAF) team, which oversees assets worth over $100 million.

The PurposeBuilt Fund will invest in projects in gaming, financial services, payment systems, and artificial intelligence, targeting ventures at pre- or post-token generation event (TGE) stages. The fund prioritizes long-term value and utility over short-term speculation.

DAAF stands out as one of the top-performing directional liquid token funds in the market. Launched in 2022, the fund has focused on liquid token investments based on scalability, economic alignment, and real adoption. It now brings the same approach to the Avalanche ecosystem.

VanEck Web3 Vision

VanEck’s portfolio manager, Pranav Kanade, stated:

“The next wave of value in crypto will come from real businesses, not more infrastructure. Avalanche has become a magnet for thoughtful builders. With the PurposeBuilt Fund, we’re bringing capital and conviction to founders. We’re not chasing momentum. We’re building lasting value.”

Avalanche’s ecosystem is currently valued at approximately $50 billion. The VanEck team notes that the number of developers building significant projects on this network is rapidly increasing. Developers are creating on-chain economic activities while pioneering new markets.

The PurposeBuilt Fund reflects VanEck’s “GDP on-chain” vision. According to the firm, blockchain technology will become central to global economic and financial systems. Projects aligned with this vision are expected to be the most resilient.

John Nahas, Chief Operating Officer of Ava Labs, commented on the development:

“VanEck’s launch of the PurposeBuilt Fund marks a significant moment for the Avalanche ecosystem. We’re seeing a shift from speculative hype to real utility and sustainable token economies. VanEck’s fund brings the kind of long-term capital and strategic conviction that founders need to lead this transition. This fund reinforces Avalanche’s strength as a hub for serious builders.”

The fund focuses on long-term value rather than short-term gains. This strategy aims to build a sustainable structure in the Web3 world. VanEck seeks to provide capital to projects with real-world applications and tangible benefits. In this context, it is targeting real-world asset (RWA) solutions like Avalanche’s tokenized money market funds. This approach both provides liquidity and grows the network’s internal economy.

Under the leadership of CEO Michael Saylor, MicroStrategy continues to aggressively expand its Bitcoin investments. The company has purchased 15,350 Bitcoin for approximately $1.5 billion, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to an impressive 439,000 BTC. This new acquisition pushes the value of MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin portfolio to about $14.7 billion, further cementing its position as a major player in the cryptocurrency market.

Saylor, a staunch believer in Bitcoin as digital gold, has reiterated his long-term bullish outlook on the cryptocurrency. The recent purchase reflects his commitment to the asset, with Bitcoin being acquired at an estimated average price of around $98,000 per Bitcoin, slightly higher than their previous acquisitions, which were made around $97,000 each. Despite fluctuations in Bitcoin prices, MicroStrategy’s strategy remains steadfast, signaling confidence in the asset’s future value.

Bitcoin selling may increase as the day of the so-called bitcoin halving approaches, but the event is expected to boost the price of the largest digital asset in the long run, according to the CEO of the Crypto.com exchange.

The bitcoin halving limits the new supply of Bitcoin and is expected around April 20. Historically, it has been an advantage for prices, though a recurrence seems unlikely given Bitcoin’s record high in mid-March.

“As we approach this date, there might be some selling coming up” owing to the buy-the-rumor and sell-the-news trade, Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, mentioned this in an interview with Bloomberg Television on Tuesday. Over the long term, the bitcoin halving will make a “substantial difference” and is a “positive development for the market,” he stated.

Bitcoin slid 1.5% to $62,180. Inflows into three-month-old spot-Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States helped the token hit a record high of $73,798 last month. “I expect pretty decent action within the six months following the Bitcoin halving,” Marszalek said in a statement.

The halving would reduce the quantity of Bitcoin that so-called miners can receive daily for validating transactions to 450 from 900. Miners compete for a payout by solving mathematical riddles on ultrafast computers. On the prognosis for Crypto.com, Marszalek stated that the digital-asset exchange is hiring carefully and has “a couple of hundred” opportunities. Marszalek defined the platform’s expansion as a long-term strategy. It will start delivering services to South Korean retail clients later this month. Crypto.com is one of the largest digital asset exchanges. According to CoinGecko, trading activity on the platform has exceeded $1.5 billion in the last 24 hours.
