Metaplanet Rapidly Increases Bitcoin Investments 

The company has made a new Bitcoin purchase worth $132.7 million. With this transaction, the company’s total BTC holdings have risen to 12,345. The average purchase price was set at $97,036 per Bitcoin. 

With this aggressive investment strategy, the company has not only surpassed Tesla but also major institutions like Coinbase, Block Inc, and Hut 8. In addition, the company’s CEO Simon Gerovich clearly stated that the total cost was $1.20 billion and that they have achieved a 315% return since the beginning of the year. 

Shaking the Market with the “555 Million Plan” 

Metaplanet recently launched its “555 Million Plan” to accelerate Bitcoin purchases. The latest 1,234 BTC acquisition was announced as part of this strategy. This development also supports the $5 billion fundraising plan announced for its U.S. subsidiary. 

The stock price dropped 25% from last week’s all-time high of 1,900 JPY to 1,560 JPY. However, the Bitcoin purchase limited the decline and helped stabilize the price at this level. Some investors see this as a buying opportunity.

Metaplanet has risen to second place after MicroStrategy (Strategy) with a daily trading volume of approximately $850 million. CEO Gerovich emphasized that this volume is the “lifeblood” for a Bitcoin treasury company. 

Metaplanet drew attention with its second major BTC investment following the 1,111 BTC purchase made at the beginning of the year. Despite geopolitical uncertainties such as the Iran-Israel conflict, the company trusts Bitcoin as a long-term hedge. 

In the past ten days, MicroStrategy, Semler Scientific, and Metaplanet have purchased a total of 13,000 BTC. Additionally, ProCap BTC acquired 4,932 BTC with a $1 billion fund. These moves clearly show that institutional interest in Bitcoin continues.

Between May 23 and June 3, Semler invested approximately $20 million to acquire 185 Bitcoins, increasing its total Bitcoin holdings to 4,449 BTC. At current market prices, the value of these assets has reached approximately $446.2 million. Now, Semler Scientific aims to hold 10,000 Bitcoins by the end of 2025, 42,000 by the end of 2026, and 105,000 by the end of 2027. With this move, the company strengthens its strong position in the Bitcoin market. 

Semler Scientific Chairman Eric Semler stated, “Our Bitcoin strategy has become even stronger with Joe Burnett joining our team.” He emphasized that Burnett’s expertise in Bitcoin and treasury management will bring long-term value to the company. Joe Burnett previously served as Director of Market Research at Unchained. He also worked as the Lead Analyst at Blockware Solutions and played an active role in founding one of the largest Bitcoin mining platforms in the United States.

Success and Returns on Bitcoin Investments 

The company has achieved a 287% return on its Bitcoin investments since May 2024. Moreover, as of June 3, 2025, it has gained $177 million. In addition, it recorded a 26.7% return on Bitcoin year-to-date. 

Semler Scientific finances its Bitcoin purchases using equity and debt funding as well as operational cash flows. Through a market offering program launched in April 2025, it generated $136.2 million from stock sales. These financial resources enable the company’s aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy. 

Joe Burnett said, “The rise of Bitcoin as a global monetary system is accelerating.” He notes that Semler Scientific is one of the pioneers of this trend. The company stands out as the second publicly traded U.S. company to adopt Bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset. However, as of June 2025, shares of Semler Scientific Inc. (SMLR) on Nasdaq have declined by approximately 46%.
