Innovative Game Development

In a recent job opening, the Meta is looking for a model to explore and experiment on new “consumer experiences” with generative AI, particularly games that are “stochastic, differential, and different with every iteration.” Meta views this area as upcoming that can define incredible experiences. Initially, the candidate will be placed in Meta’s Reality Labs department and will be reporting to management. The position will be mainly dedicated to Horizon, Meta’s mixed-reality games platform, that has all possibilities to expand to other non-Meta contexts like mobile and PC, the position is paid around $347,000 per year, plus bonus, equity and other benefits.

One of the core responsibilities of the position is also to establish products which may help increase contents published on Meta’s platforms. Meta notes that the Generative AI is rapidly growing particularly in content generation, and completely new paradigms are being built here Metas is heavily investing in this area.

Challenges and Regulatory Hurdles

Even as Meta has poured millions into building out this metaverse team and division, which resulted in a $3.8 billion loss in Q1 of this year, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said during an earnings call that more and more of Reality Labs’ work would feed into its AI initiatives.

At the same time, it becomes known that there are some troubles that occurred for Meta’s AI projects in Brazil. A few months ago, the National Data Protection Authority demanded Meta to cease new privacy policy implementation which was to use personal data in training AI models, on an “immediate basis.” The authority had stated that, failure to which some serious and irreparable damage may occur to the users and therefore, this prompted it to set the daily fines to 50,000 Brazilian real or $8,800. Meta stated that disappointing decision would cause a delay in bringing the advantages of AI to Brazilian users. Currently, Brazil is a popular market for Meta’s platform Facebook, containing 102 million active users.
