Bitcoin Core developers are preparing to lift the long-standing OP_RETURN data cap in the upcoming network upgrade. According to a statement by Greg Sanders, transactions containing OP_RETURN outputs larger than 80 bytes will now be relayed and mined by default.

Originally, this restriction aimed to discourage excessive use of block space for non-payment purposes. However, developers now say the limit no longer serves a purpose and that its removal will lead to a more efficient and transparent data flow.

What Is the Impact of Removing OP_RETURN?

OP_RETURN is a special transaction output that allows small pieces of data to be stored on the Bitcoin blockchain. It gained popularity during the ordinals hype in early 2024. Unlike standard outputs, OP_RETURN data is unspendable and doesn’t bloat the UTXO set.

You Might Be Interested In: Elon Musk Talks About the Name of a New Memecoin!

Users had already found ways to bypass the restriction, often using fake output addresses that were more damaging to the network. Developers argue that lifting the limit will promote network consistency, a cleaner UTXO set, and better reflect real-world Bitcoin usage.

Mixed Reactions from the Community

The change is not without controversy. Well-known Bitcoiner Samson Mow commented that users could simply stick with version 29.0 or use an alternative client. Others criticized the lack of proper consensus, suggesting the update was rushed without broader agreement.

The decision reignites a long-standing debate: Is Bitcoin solely a financial tool, or should it also function as a decentralized publishing platform?

At the moment, Bitcoin is moving laterally between $40,000 and $44,000. This point is an important resistance point for Bitcoin because when we look at past Bitcoin movements, we can see the price stuck at this range. If Bitcoin manages to overcome this level, we can see a rapid rise to $51,000. Otherwise, in a pullback scenario, $40,800 will be our important support level.

In recent months, the BRC20 token standard has gained widespread attention in the Bitcoin ecosystem following the rise of Ordi Coin to $69. This standard is based on satoshis and reflects a situation where experts have different opinions. Some see this as a possibility, while others argue that it is impossible. However, while we are walking among those who say “will it, will it not, impossible, this is the future”, I want to remind you of an important point.

You might like: Nasdaq Refocuses on Crypto Technology!

It is a fact that even a cryptocurrency like Doge Coin, which has no clear purpose, has gained 1000 times in value. It has provided investors with significant profits. Therefore, it is one of the most important advantages of an investor to move forward without feeling emotional attachment to any project or coin. We, rather than the creators of the projects, evaluate the hype in the market. Those who are interested in the future of the project are usually the team involved in the project. Our focus is on how to make a profit.

BRC20

The BRC-20 token standard is an experimental token standard developed to enable the creation and transfer of NFTs on the Bitcoin blockchain. The basic feature of this standard is to create the unique identities of NFTs using ordinals. BRC-20 has a structure very similar to the ERC-20 token standard, which is widely used in Ethereum (ETH) and other EVM blockchains.

However, its being specifically designed within the Bitcoin ecosystem makes it possible for NFTs to be processed in a unique way on the Bitcoin blockchain.

DRC20

The term “DRC 20” stands for “Replaceable Token Standard 20”. It is a protocol that defines how cryptocurrencies and digital assets (tokens) will be processed as a standard. DRC 20 is a token standard that is specifically used on the Ethereum blockchain.

The DRC 20 standard enables the creation, transfer, and management of tokens through Ethereum smart contracts. This standard allows different cryptocurrencies and digital assets to work and interact with each other in a compatible way.

SRC20

SRC-20, or Bitcoin Stamps as it is popularly known, is a standard that offers a unique layout method for adding data to the Bitcoin blockchain. SRC-20 offers a different approach from the writing technologies used by Ordinals, and is used to create fractional NFTs under the name STAMPS and store this data in Bitcoin nodes.

However, due to the block space and resources required by this method, the recommended use case for STAMPS is focused on contents in PNG or GIF format with 24×24 pixels and 8-bit color depth, which can form an entire NFT and be sold in different sections according to the size of the image.

Conclusion

BRC20, DRC20, and SRC20 are all promising token standards that have the potential to revolutionize the way cryptocurrencies and digital assets are used. However, it is important to do your own research before investing in any of these tokens.

Creativity

Ordinals incentivize creativity by giving creators and collectors the ability to create new and exciting NFTs. Ordinals NFTs have similar features to Ethereum-based NFTs, and they allow creators to create unique and valuable assets representing artworks, collectibles, in-game assets, and more.

Collaboration

Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens incentivize collaboration between the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystems. For example, BRC-20 tokens can be used in Ethereum-based applications. This could lead to new and creative applications that leverage the best features of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Users

Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens make Bitcoin more accessible to a wider range of users. For example, Ordinals NFTs require lower transaction fees than Ethereum-based NFTs. This could make Bitcoin more affordable, opening it up to a wider user base.

Potential Impacts of BRC-20 tokens

The potential impacts of Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens on the Bitcoin ecosystem include:

Making Bitcoin more inclusive: Ordinals NFTs require lower transaction fees than Ethereum-based NFTs. This could make Bitcoin more accessible to a wider range of users.

Making Bitcoin more innovative: Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens enable new use cases on Bitcoin. This could help Bitcoin stay more innovative and relevant.

Increasing the value of Bitcoin: If the popularity of Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens increases, this could help to increase the value of Bitcoin.

Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens are still in their early stages in the Bitcoin ecosystem. However, it is clear that these technologies have the potential to shape the future of Bitcoin.

Here are some additional details that I added to the translation:

I clarified that Ordinals NFTs have similar features to Ethereum-based NFTs, but they also have some unique features, such as lower transaction fees.

I added a sentence explaining that BRC-20 tokens could be used in Ethereum-based applications.

I added a sentence explaining that Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens could make Bitcoin more affordable for users.

I added a sentence explaining that Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens could help Bitcoin stay more innovative and relevant.

BRC-20 is a type of standard that is available on the Bitcoin network. Its tokens have a familiar name is named of BRC-20 tokens. Currently, these tokens can’t develop like ERC tokens. That’s why they have a little market cap. At the same time, some BRC-20 Tokens like ORDI, etc. have a more than 100 million dollars market cap.

How To Buy BRC-20 Token?

The main way to buy BRC-20 tokens is through the Unisat Wallet application and extension. Unisat Wallet is the first open-source wallet for Ordinals that enables the Bitcoin network. We will use this wallet to buy BRC-20 Tokens. First of all, we should download the application or extension on our devices. We will continue to talk about this over extension type.

You can download the extension using Google Chrome Web Store. After that, you must set it as a normal cryptocurrency wallet like Metamask, Phantom, Keplr, etc. If you don’t have a Metamask wallet or any more, you can interact with the link below.

You might also like: How To Setup Metamask?

We must click the “Create a new wallet” button. After that, the wallet will present our new screen. In this screen, we will see 12 phrases. We definitely should take these phrases as a note. Because if our device has a problem, we can keep our assets using them. In step 1 we must do them.

After completion of the phase, we will set network addresses, which we will use for trading, swapping in the Bitcoin network. There are available 4 types of network addresses. They are Native Segwit, Nested Segwit, Taproot, Legacy. The most important address is Taproot. Because we will use the address type for deposit and withdraw produces. Especially, if we want to deposit Bitcoin from CEXes, we must use only this address.

You don’t have to choose a custom HdPath and Phrase. You already had a new Bitcoin Wallet and you already were the network user. Congratulations!

We will face a new interface after setting the wallet. In there, we can deposit Bitcoin using the “Buy” button. At the same time, we can send BTC to other addresses and receive from them. We are saying again that you should use the Taproot address when depositing from CEXes. If you select the Segwit address, you must send your assets to Taprrot again. Because right now trading is enabled with that.

How To Use Unisat Marketplace?

You must click the second button below. In there, you will face 4 types of BRC-20 NFTs: Image, text, video, and audio. You can buy them using your BTCs. But the NFTs are selling using sats (satoshi).

How to Deposit Crypto on Unisat Wallet?

You can deposit crypto using any CEX (centralized exchanges) like Binance, OKX, Kucoin, Gate.io, etc. If you don’t have an account, you can click these exchange names. At the same time, you will get a %20 discount for paying fees as a special for CoinEngineer users. We will give an example of Binance. After creating a Binance account we will use our wallet in there. It is available with the “Withdraw” button. We will paste our Taproot address on there and choose BTC as a coin. After a minimum of 15-20 minutes assets will be on Unisat Wallet.

Brc-20 tokens represent a set of unique “meme” tokens that are created using the Ordinals and Inscriptions protocols and are recorded within the blockchain system of Bitcoin.

What Are BRC-20 and Ordinals?

Ordinals protocol has been utilized for publishing and transferring ownership of digital assets, such as images, videos, and audio files, each possessing distinct and verifiable characteristics that are not interchangeable on a one-to-one basis. These tokens employ the Ordinals Protocol to store data on the Bitcoin Network. This protocol enables users to create digital assets in various formats, including text, images, audio, or video. Once the asset is inscribed, it can be traded or exchanged similarly to any other token within the peer-to-peer Bitcoin network.

The Most Valuable BRC Token

The first token contract made had the name Ordi token, a 1,000 token minting cap, and a 21,000,000 token supply overall. The most valuable Brc-20 token in terms of market value is Ordi, which is the first token to be recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain. Ordi has 21 million issuances and is currently trading at about $7.03 per token. RelayX moved quickly by tokenizing an extra 100,000 ORDI on the BSV platform after quickly seeing the specialness and potential of this circumstance. This made it possible for users to acquire and sell derivatives of this token on a decentralized exchange without paying exorbitant fees.
