Bitcoin (BTC)’s recent price surge, which pushed the asset close to the $74,000 level during the day, has once again captured the attention of the crypto market. However, the move also sparked fresh criticism from economist and investor Peter Schiff, who has long been known for his skeptical stance toward Bitcoin.

Following the rally, Schiff shared his perspective on the market, arguing that the latest upward movement should not be interpreted as the beginning of a sustainable bullish trend.

Schiff Questions the Strength of the Rally

According to Peter Schiff, the recent rise in Bitcoin’s price does not signal a structural change in the market. Instead, he believes the move represents a temporary rebound within a broader downward trend.

Schiff described the price action as a classic “dead cat bounce,” a term often used in financial markets to refer to a short-lived recovery during a prolonged decline. In such situations, an asset may experience brief upward movements before continuing its broader downward trajectory.

From his perspective, investors should be cautious about interpreting these short-term rallies as evidence that a new bull market has begun.

Gold Versus Bitcoin Debate Continues

Schiff also used the opportunity to revisit his long-standing comparison between Bitcoin and gold. During the same period that Bitcoin experienced its price surge, gold prices reportedly saw a modest pullback.

This divergence may have influenced some investors to rotate capital from gold into Bitcoin. However, Schiff believes that this reaction could be a misinterpretation of market signals.

In his view, more experienced investors—often referred to as “smart money”—are approaching the situation differently. Schiff argued that these investors may be using Bitcoin’s upward moves as opportunities to sell, while treating temporary declines in gold as potential buying opportunities.

Comments on the U.S. Economic Outlook

Beyond cryptocurrency markets, Schiff also commented on the recent performance of the U.S. economy. He noted that the country’s economy grew by approximately 2.1% in 2025, which he considers weaker compared to the previous year.

For comparison, Schiff pointed out that economic growth in 2024 was reported at around 2.8%. Based on this difference, he argued that the more recent growth figures indicate a slowdown relative to the earlier period.

According to Schiff, shifts in macroeconomic performance can play an important role in shaping investor sentiment and financial market expectations.

Ongoing Debate in the Crypto Market

Bitcoin’s climb toward the $74,000 level has been interpreted by many market participants as a sign of resilience and potential recovery. Nevertheless, critics such as Schiff remain unconvinced that the rally reflects a lasting change in the market structure.

This ongoing divide highlights the broader debate surrounding Bitcoin’s role in global finance. While some investors view it as a long-term store of value, others continue to question its sustainability and treat rallies with caution.

Also, you can freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section.

Peter Schiff, known for his advocacy of gold and critical stance on Bitcoin, made a notable claim ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. Schiff, long recognized for his skeptical views on Bitcoin, argued that the market was over-interpreting Trump’s speech. According to him, investors were already pricing in potential positive crypto-related remarks from Trump, which supported a short-term rise in Bitcoin. However, the economist warned that if Trump didn’t mention Bitcoin, a sharp sell-off could occur. Even if Trump did address Bitcoin, Schiff suggested that the “buy the rumor, sell the news” effect might still trigger a decline since the expectation was already reflected in prices.

Schiff Says Expectations Were Priced In

Schiff claimed that the recent recovery in Bitcoin prices was driven by expectations that Trump would discuss BTC in his speech. He argued that the optimism in the market was based more on speculative expectations than on strong fundamental developments, creating a short-term price movement.

Schiff commented:

“If Bitcoin isn’t mentioned, I expect selling pressure. Even if it is mentioned, those who bought before the speech may sell on the news, leading to a decline.”

His main argument was that the market had already priced in potential crypto messages from Trump, making post-speech profit-taking inevitable. According to Schiff, a price driven by expectations could face selling pressure and a short-term correction, even if the anticipated news occurs.

President Trump delivered his State of the Union address, covering topics such as tariffs, tax cuts, Iran’s nuclear program, and the defense budget. However, he did not directly mention Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. The market had anticipated a crypto-related mention due to Trump’s past pro-crypto messages. Leading up to the speech, Bitcoin’s price rose to around $66,000. After the speech, the lack of crypto commentary triggered some profit-taking, pulling the price back to approximately $65,000. Nevertheless, the sharp sell-off Schiff predicted did not materialize.

“Bitcoin Bubble Is Deflating” Claim

In another statement, Schiff described Bitcoin’s long-running upward trend as a “deflating bubble.” He argued that the market structure is unsustainable and predicted that Bitcoin could decline to around $40,000 in the medium term. This forecast has sparked discussion within the crypto community, particularly among short-term traders.

Schiff’s comments are consistent with his long-standing gold-positive, Bitcoin-critical stance. He has repeatedly argued that Bitcoin cannot serve as a lasting store of value and has issued similar warnings during previous major price surges. Thus, his latest remarks reflect a continuation of his critical viewpoint rather than introducing a new market narrative.

Assessment

Peter Schiff maintains that Bitcoin is likely to decline regardless of Trump’s speech, while market expectations drove a short-term pre-speech rally. The absence of BTC commentary triggered some profit-taking but did not lead to a major crash. Moving forward, Bitcoin’s price trajectory will depend not only on political statements but also on broader dynamics such as macroeconomic data, ETF flows, and global risk appetite. Schiff’s $40,000 prediction continues to generate debate within the crypto community.

You can freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section.

The second and final day of Binance Blockchain Week 2025 began with great interest. As the doors opened in the morning, participants quickly filled the venue to hear new visions and ideas from leading figures in the industry. Throughout the event, many critical topics were discussed, including the future of crypto markets, tokenization, blockchain gaming, regulatory approaches, and decentralized finance.

Raoul Pal: “Don’t Chase Short-Term Gains”

Raoul Pal, Co-Founder and CEO of Real Vision, was one of the first standout speakers of the day. Highlighting the cyclical nature of the crypto market, Pal emphasized that investors often try to replicate others’ quick gains during altcoin seasons, which carries significant risk. According to him, a short-term trading mindset causes most investors to lose money.

He added that sticking to high-quality assets, avoiding FOMO-driven trades, and minimizing leverage are the most rational long-term strategies.

NEXPACE COO Keith Kim: The Future of Gaming Will Be On-Chain

Keith Kim, COO of NEXPACE and a key figure behind MapleStory Universe, shared crucial insights into the future of blockchain-based gaming. According to Kim, next-generation gaming ecosystems will not be built around a single developer or a single platform. Instead, a fully community-driven approach supported by open APIs and global developer networks will take shape.

He stated that a single blockchain protocol powering multiple interconnected game worlds will inevitably become the dominant model.

Tom Lee: “Ethereum Is Entering a Historic Turning Point in 2025”

Tom Lee, Chairman of Bitmine, explained why Ethereum remains the most critical blockchain from a market structure perspective. According to Lee, Ethereum is experiencing a “transformational moment” in 2025 that can be compared to major monetary shifts in history.

Lee described tokenization as the biggest growth story of the coming years, noting that the sector still holds the potential for 200x broader adoption. He also pointed out that traditional cycles in assets like copper and gold have already broken, making it possible for Bitcoin to move outside its classic four-year cycle as well.

UAE and Circle: Security, Education, and User Protection First

Faisal Al Yaaquobi, Head of the Virtual Assets Division at the UAE Ministry of Interior, and Payal Patel, VP of Risk & Compliance at Circle, discussed the emerging frameworks designed to protect users in the crypto sector.

Yaaquobi stressed that long-term trust depends on users knowing what they are buying and how to stay protected. Patel added that crypto needs to evolve into a tool that people can use as easily as metro cards or mobile payment systems.

The Rise of Perpetual DEXs: ASTER CEO Leonard Takes the Stage

In a session tailored to traders, Crypto Banter hosted a discussion with ASTER CEO Leonard on the growth of perpetual DEXs. Leonard emphasized that even high-frequency traders prioritize the safety of their funds above everything else. In his view, while capital efficiency is important, security must always come first.

A Major Announcement from First Digital CEO Vincent Chok

Vincent Chok, CEO of First Digital, took the stage to announce that a live demonstration of “agentic payments” was successfully executed on BNB Chain. This milestone is seen as an important step toward the future of automated, smart contract-driven financial transactions.

The Most Anticipated Session: Bitcoin vs. Tokenized Gold

One of the most anticipated moments of the event featured a debate between Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder of Binance and Giggle Academy, and economist Peter Schiff. The key question: Will the future of the monetary system be shaped by Bitcoin or tokenized gold?

Peter Schiff argued that tokenized gold enhances the monetary properties of physical gold while maintaining its value as a safe store of wealth. He also highlighted gold’s industrial utility as a natural driver of its value.

CZ countered that Bitcoin offers instant, verifiable, on-chain settlement and is supported by a massive global community. He added that digital assets can hold significant value even without physical properties, just like major internet platforms.

End of Day 2: Event Conclusion

The second day of Binance Blockchain Week 2025 concluded with intense discussions, notable announcements, and forward-looking insights that will influence the ecosystem in the years ahead. Participants left the event with new perspectives on the future of the industry and valuable networking opportunities.

Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) responded sharply to economist Peter Schiff’s recent Bitcoin criticisms. Schiff claimed that Bitcoin has lost 32% against gold since August, warning investors of a brutal bear market. CZ dismissed the claim as “narrow-minded,” emphasizing Bitcoin’s impressive 16-year historical growth from $0.004 to over $110,000, despite occasional drops.

CZ Fires Back at Schiff

“Peter revenge. We should have listened to him two months ago; this represents only 1% of Bitcoin’s 16-year history. I’m sure Bitcoin has fluctuated against gold more than that, yet BTC rose from $0.004 to $110,000 in 16 years.” – CZ

“Bitcoin may experience occasional declines, but its long-term historical growth remains impressive.” – CZ

Bitcoin vs Gold

Peter Schiff emphasized Bitcoin’s drop against gold, urging investors to move into real gold. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“Gold is eating Bitcoin’s lunch. Bitcoin is now down 32% priced in gold since its August high. This Bitcoin bear market will be brutal. HODLers, sell your fool’s gold now and buy the real thing, or have fun going broke.” – Peter Schiff

Analysts also noted that a Bitcoin drop could put gold at risk as well. Popular trader The Bitcoin Therapist mentioned he is considering selling his digital assets to move entirely into gold.

Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff has expressed concern about rising inflation rates in the US, saying that current inflation pressures are based on policies implemented before Biden and that more inflationary pressures could be coming.

Peter Schiff noted that the recent high inflation rates in the US are based on policies that predate Biden’s presidency. Schiff said that the policy gap between money creation and price increases indicates that worse days are coming, and that the effects of Biden’s policies will be felt in the coming months.

Peter Schiff Criticizes Dual Causes of Inflation

Schiff, a well-known economist who is skeptical of Bitcoin, argues that a significant portion of today’s inflation is due to money printed to cover budget deficits during the Trump presidency.

Peter Schiff criticized Larry Kudlow, who served as Director of the National Economic Council under the Trump administration, for attributing inflation solely to Biden. Schiff noted that Kudlow did not express any concern about inflation while serving in the Trump administration, and that such criticisms undermine credibility when made selectively.

Peter Schiff said that inflationary pressures are not simply the result of the current administration’s fiscal policies, but rather an accumulation of policies that have been in place for a long time.

Economist Peter Schiff predicted a stock market and crypto crash if the Federal Reserve doesn’t lower interest rates soon. He also noted the decline in Bitcoin and Ethereum. Warned the crypto world for the FOMC meeting

Financial analyst and famous Bitcoin (BTC) critic Peter Schiff has once again sounded the alarm about the state of financial markets. In a series of posts on the X platform, he emphasized the dangerous situation against both traditional markets and cryptocurrencies. He also commented on Federal Reserve monetary policy.

Peter Schiff Predicts Crypto and Stock Market Crash

“Markets are sounding the alarm. shares are in decline. Safe-haven currencies such as the Japanese yen and Swiss franc are rising, while commodity currencies such as the Australian dollar are falling. “If the Fed doesn’t cut rates soon, the recession could start with a stock market crash,” Peter Schiff warned on X. This statement came against the background of significant market volatility, with economists pointing to the Federal Reserve’s potential role in preventing a deeper crisis.

Might interest you: Bitcoin 2024 Conference Kicks Off: Why It Matters?

Additionally, Peter Schiff’s observations extend beyond stocks. “Gold and silver are also in decline. Markets are starting to price in a hard landing. “The key is whether the Fed will let this happen or provide the one thing that will stop a full-blown stock market crash, financial crisis and recession before the election,” he wrote.

In the crypto world, Schiff drew attention to the recent decline in Bitcoin and Ethereum. “In case you haven’t noticed, despite 8 EthereumETFs launching yesterday, Ether is down more than 7% in the last 24 hours. “Bitcoin fell 2% in the same period.”

Additionally, Peter Schiff said, “The stage is set for a crypto crash for the Nashville Bitcoin conference.” This crypto price decline adds to the growing unrest among investors. Additionally, his comments reflect a broader concern that without a rate cut the economy could face a severe downturn.

The crypto market has witnessed a notable rebound in spot Bitcoin ETF inflows. Despite significant outflows earlier this week and Bitcoin (BTC) prices plummeting below $54,000 due to a sharp downturn, recent data indicates a strong comeback fueled by institutional investors buying the dip.

Institutional Investors Buying the Dip

Recent inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs suggest that major players are capitalizing on the market decline to accumulate BTC. While Grayscale’s spot Bitcoin ETF (GBTC) experienced a $28 million outflow, other ETFs saw significant inflows, reflecting institutional investor confidence.

According to recent data, Fidelity’s spot Bitcoin ETF (FBTC) led the way with $117 million in inflows on July 5th, followed by Bitwise’s spot Bitcoin ETF (BITB) with $30 million.

Bitwise Asset Management CEO Hunter Horsley revealed that his team managed to efficiently purchase BTC at a cost of less than half a basis point. Inflows into BITB surpassed $66 million in the first week of July, increasing total BTC holdings to over 38,000. Horsley emphasized Bitcoin’s strong outlook and viewed the current market dip as an excellent buying opportunity for both new and existing investors.

Analyst Perspectives on Market Dynamics

Despite the market turbulence, renowned Bitcoin skeptic Peter Schiff noted that spot Bitcoin ETF investors were not showing signs of panic. Schiff pointed out that trading activity indicated these investors were holding their positions firmly despite the ongoing volatility. Schiff believes a more substantial decline in the price of the largest cryptocurrency would be necessary for these investors to capitulate.

Schiff predicted that the capitulation of spot Bitcoin ETF holders could occur as early as next week, potentially this weekend if another significant sell-off materializes.

Bitcoin permabear Peter Schiff is back with another warning for Bitcoin investors. This time, Schiff is warning that institutional investors who buy Bitcoin ETFs will eventually sell them, driving the price down.

Schiff made his comments in a tweet on June 11. He said that Bitcoin proponents believe that institutional buying of Bitcoin ETFs will drive up the price. However, Schiff says that this is actually making the market more illiquid and volatile.

Schiff believes that institutional investors who buy Bitcoin ETFs are not planning to hold them forever. He says that they will eventually sell their coins, which will drive the price down.

Schiff says that spot Bitcoin investors are not thinking about selling in this way. He believes that many spot investors are planning to hold their Bitcoin until it replaces fiat currencies altogether.

Schiff’s latest warning comes as the price of Bitcoin has been struggling in recent weeks. The price of Bitcoin is currently down around 50% from its all-time high of $69,000, which it reached in November 2021.

It is unclear whether Schiff’s warning will come to pass. However, his comments are sure to be of interest to Bitcoin investors who are trying to make sense of the current market.

Peter Schiff vs. Peter Brandt: The Bitcoin Debate

Peter Schiff and Peter Brandt, two analysts who often share analysis about the cryptocurrency market, got into a serious debate.

The debate started after gold enthusiast analyst Peter Schiff made a comment about the performance of some assets recently. Referring to a tweet he had previously posted, Schiff mentioned that the price of silver has increased by 21% since the beginning of April. He added that the increase in value in Bitcoin during the same period was only 2%.

Schiff claimed that people could earn 10 times more with silver than with Bitcoin. He argued that Bitcoin is dead.

In response, Peter Brandt, a trader for about 50 years, stepped in. Brandt, who is also known for his pro-Bitcoin statements, told his followers in his statement that they should completely ignore tweets like Schiff’s.

In addition, he argued that Schiff was saying such “nonsense” to gain followers and attention. However, he said that Schiff “is not as stupid as what he says.” The analyst added that despite Schiff’s correct prediction about silver, which was one of his many predictions, his predictions have generally been wrong so far.
