A significant partnership that reshapes user experience in the crypto ecosystem has been announced. Phantom has integrated with Kalshi, one of the world’s largest prediction markets, officially bringing on-chain prediction markets to users. With this integration, users can now interact with prediction markets faster, more easily, and more directly than ever before.

What Does the Phantom–Kalshi Integration Mean?

Phantom wallet users can now access Kalshi’s prediction markets directly from their wallets. Processes that previously required external platforms, complex approval steps, or multi-stage transfers are now consolidated into a single interface. This structure allows users to maintain full control over their crypto assets while actively participating in prediction markets. The integration preserves the self-custody model while pushing the decentralized user experience to the next level.

A New Era for On-Chain Prediction Markets

Kalshi is known for its regulation-compliant structure and for offering a wide range of prediction markets—from macroeconomic developments and political decisions to financial indicators and global events. With Phantom integration, these markets become far more accessible on-chain.

Users can open prediction positions without:

Dealing with additional wallet connections

Experiencing fund transfer delays

Handing over asset control to third parties

This provides a major advantage in terms of speed and security for on-chain financial interactions.

User Experience Takes Center Stage

Phantom’s clean, user-friendly interface combined with Kalshi’s prediction markets delivers a powerful and accessible experience, especially for retail users. Participants can engage in prediction markets without navigating complex menus or technical details. Even users unfamiliar with DeFi mechanics can more easily understand and experience on-chain interactions thanks to this integration.

Moreover, this development helps prediction markets move beyond being tools solely for professional traders, expanding access to a broader audience and boosting overall participation within the Web3 ecosystem.

A Strategic Move for the Web3 Ecosystem

This partnership is not just a collaboration between two platforms—it also represents a meaningful step forward in the evolution of Web3 financial products. Making prediction markets accessible at the wallet level has the potential to drive:

Greater user engagement

Higher transaction volumes

New financial use cases on-chain

The Phantom–Kalshi integration is also seen as a strong signal that prediction markets may become more deeply integrated with DeFi, tokenization, and other on-chain financial products in the future.

Assessment

The collaboration between Phantom and Kalshi marks an important milestone by making on-chain prediction markets more accessible, faster, and more secure. The convergence of one of the largest crypto wallets with one of the largest prediction market platforms points to a new era where Web3 user experience becomes simpler and more mature. This integration is expected to increase interest in on-chain financial products and position prediction markets as a more central component of the Web3 ecosystem in the period ahead.

Phantom Wallet raised $150 million in a Series C funding round led by Sequoia Capital and Paradigm, increasing its valuation to $3 billion. Andreessen Horowitz and Variant also participated in the investment round.

In his statement on January 16, Phantom CEO Brandon Millman said:

“Our mission has always been to make crypto more accessible, intuitive, and safe for everyone. This latest round of funding allows us to invest further in innovation and ultimately modernize consumer finance.”

Investment Focus Areas

Phantom plans to focus on these innovations with this investment:

Social Discovery Feature: This feature, which will enable users to have a more interactive experience, will be launched soon.

Peer-to-Peer Payments: Solutions are being developed to simplify P2P payments.

App Store Prominence

Phantom Wallet briefly became the second most popular app in the Apple App Store’s “Utility Apps” category on November 20. This success coincided with the period when the total crypto market value approached $4 trillion.

New Blockchain Integration

Phantom announced on December 6 that it began supporting Sui, a Layer-1 blockchain. This brought the number of blockchains supported by Phantom to four, along with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.

Phantom’s Founders and Vision

Founded in San Francisco in 2021, Phantom was brought to life by Brandon Millman (CEO), Chris Kalani (Product Director), and Francesco Agost (Technology Director). The company also provides custody services that allow users to secure their non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Phantom digital asset wallet has addressed rumors about a possible token airdrop tied to its upcoming social discovery feature. In a January 3 X post, the company stated, “We’ve seen some speculation about an airdrop tied to this feature, so to clarify: we do not have any plans to launch a token.”

However, the company added, “We’re incredibly excited about social discovery on Phantom and are actively working on ways to make it something everyone loves.”

What Is Phantom’s Social Discovery Feature?

Announced on December 19, this new feature will allow users to create profiles, add friends, and set their profiles to one of three privacy levels: public, private, or invisible.

Some members of the crypto community, including X user Slim, claimed users of the new feature could earn tokens by following others and gaining followers. This sparked rumors of a potential token launch, but Phantom has firmly denied these claims.

Phantom’s Blockchain Integrations

On December 6, Phantom announced plans to integrate the Layer 1 blockchain Sui. This will be the fourth blockchain supported by Phantom, after Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. The integration is expected to go live in early 2025.

Phantom has emerged as one of the leading non-custodial crypto wallets this bull market, with 7 million monthly active users reported in April. On November 20, Phantom briefly became the second most popular app in the Apple App Store’s utilities section.

However, the company has faced challenges in recent months. Developers had to issue an emergency update for iPhone users following reports of the app resetting, locking users out of their wallets unless they remembered their recovery phrases. One user reportedly lost approximately $600,000 during this incident.

About Phantom

Phantom was founded in 2021 in San Francisco, California, by CEO Brandon Millman, Chief Product Officer Chris Kalani, and Chief Technology Officer Francesco Agost. The wallet also provides non-custodial services for users looking to secure their NFTs.

As cryptocurrency users increasingly shift towards decentralized wallets, distancing themselves from centralized exchanges, it seems Coinbase is bearing the brunt of this transition. While memecoins are gaining popularity in the crypto ecosystem, users’ platform preferences are changing as well. Despite the convenience offered by traditional centralized exchanges, decentralized wallets like Phantom are rising rapidly. This shift reflects investors’ search for a more free and innovative financial environment. Phantom surpassing Coinbase in the Apple App Store rankings is just one sign of this change.

Memecoin Madness is Increasing On-Chain Demand

Recently, memecoins have opened new doors of opportunity for investors. Supported mainly through social media platforms, these tokens can skyrocket in value within hours. However, accessing these assets is often not possible on centralized exchanges like Coinbase, due to their traditional structures. Instead, users are turning to on-chain wallets like Phantom, learning to make direct transactions.

Phantom’s CEO, Brandon Millman, summarizes this shift: “Centralized exchanges are struggling to keep up with fast-moving on-chain innovations.” Despite a more complex interface and a steep learning curve, users find on-chain solutions more appealing.

The Power of TikTok and Social Media

TikTok has become one of the main drivers of the memecoin craze. Users on this platform are learning how to download and use the Phantom wallet. A recent viral token, CHILLGUY, showcased the power of social media in this space. Thanks to coordinated campaigns, CHILLGUY’s market value soared from zero to $500 million in just a few days.

This process has been educational not only for investors but also for newcomers to on-chain technologies. TikTok videos are guiding users on how to navigate and trade on decentralized exchanges.

Coinbase and Base Network Try to Keep Up with Their Own Internal Struggles

In response to the demand wave created by memecoins, Coinbase has added some joke tokens to its platform. Popular memecoins like FLOKI and PEPE are now available for trading on Coinbase. However, this move isn’t enough to compete with the wide array of options offered by on-chain platforms.

Coinbase’s Layer-2 network, Base, aims to offer new opportunities in this area. With lower transaction fees and faster transfer times, Base seeks to support the development of the on-chain economy. A spokesperson for the company stated, “We’re excited to see more people experiencing on-chain transactions. Our goal is to make this technology more accessible.”

Can Coinbase-Style Exchanges Keep Up with This Change?

Memecoins have reshaped investors’ risk tolerance and strategies. While these tokens are typically favored for short-term gains, they are also helping users better understand the on-chain economy. The rise of decentralized wallets like Phantom shows how user trends in the crypto world are evolving. While centralized exchanges focus on simpler, more accessible interfaces, on-chain solutions appeal to investors’ desire for freedom. Phantom’s rise proves that decentralized finance (DeFi) is being increasingly embraced. The memecoin craze is not just a short-term trend but also a chance to introduce users to the fundamentals of blockchain technology.

Established platforms like Coinbase must adapt to this change and enhance their integration with on-chain solutions. In the future, a more balanced ecosystem where centralized and decentralized structures coexist may be possible. For now, however, wallets like Phantom continue to be the favorite of the next generation of crypto users.

In recent developments, Phantom Wallet, the leading Web3 wallet within the Solana ecosystem, has encountered downtime, causing frustrations among users. Reports indicate unsuccessful transaction submissions, adding to the string of outages affecting the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) layer-1 blockchain network.

Phantom Wallet Outage

Numerous members of the Solana and Phantom Wallet communities have reported issues with the browser version of the wallet. Users have found that submitted transactions cannot be viewed, and attempts to initiate transactions have failed without clear error messages.

While some users have confirmed the outage, it appears that not all users are affected equally. Some have been able to access their accounts and complete transactions successfully, suggesting that the problem is not widespread.

Independent Crypto Journalist Colin Wu shared a screenshot displaying a “no data” prompt on the browser wallet’s overview page, indicating potential issues with transaction visibility. However, Phantom Wallet has not officially acknowledged these reports, suggesting that the downtime may not be affecting all users.

Phantom Wallet has experienced downtime before, notably facing a DDoS attack in February. Such incidents are not uncommon for a Solana-based wallet, given the network’s growing popularity and the associated increase in transaction volume.

Finding a Permanent Solution to Solana Outages

As Solana continues to grow, with SOL gaining prominence as a digital currency, the Solana Foundation is actively seeking solutions to address these recurring outages. Priority fee payments may become standard for applications on the network, aimed at improving transaction processing efficiency.

Moreover, efforts are underway to optimize total compute unit (CU) usage, enhancing the network’s throughput and scalability. Despite Solana’s technological advancements, experts warn that ongoing outages could hinder its ability to surpass Ethereum in the long run.

Users Can’t Send or Receive Money in Phantom Wallet

A lot of people who use Phantom, a digital wallet for Solana cryptocurrency, are having trouble. They can’t send money to others or get money from them. Some think the wallet might not be working right now because the transactions aren’t showing up on the blockchain, which is like the internet’s ledger for cryptocurrency.

Why Is Phantom Having Issues?

The main reason Phantom might be having problems is because of a lot of people using the Solana network at the same time. Recently, a lot of people got excited about meme coins (joke cryptocurrencies) like BOME, especially after it got added to Binance, a big cryptocurrency exchange. This made the network very busy. People are rushing to buy these new meme coins, hoping they will go up in value, but it’s hard to say if this will keep happening.

Watch Out for Scams

Alongside the operational issues faced by the Phantom wallet, there is a growing concern about fraud within the cryptocurrency community. Several influencers have been promoting the exchange of Solana (SOL) for meme coin airdrops, a practice that has already led to significant financial losses. A recent scam involved a fraudulent wallet stealing $2.6 million worth of Solana tokens from users, highlighting the risks associated with the current frenzy in the meme coin market.

The current rise in SOL price is backed by the airdrop mania that resulted in Solana’s Saga phone being completely sold out and trading at high prices on secondary markets.

Solana captured attention when major centralized exchanges listed the SPL token, JITO, inspired by Ethereum’s Lido’s liquid staking protocol, on December 7. Jito’s airdrop generated impressive profits for participants, and in the first few hours following the transaction, its market value surpassed $300 million. Successful listings on Coinbase and Binance also increased the demand for other airdrops and token launches on the Solana network.

A turning point occurred with the listing of the memecoin BONK on Coinbase on December 14, along with Solana’s Saga phone. Each phone bought approximately 30 million BONK.

DApp Activity Also Supports Solana (SOL) ‘s Rise

As evidenced by the growth of Solana’s network in terms of DApps, SOL’s rise extends beyond current memecoins. Just three weeks ago, on November 29, Solana’s TVL (total value locked) was only $654 million, representing a market share of just 1.4%. According to DefiLlama, this data has now increased by 96% to $1.28 billion.

Increasing activity in DApps accompanied deposit increases on the Solana network. It’s worth noting that the network’s volume increase outperformed its top competitors. Similarly, the number of unique active addresses interacting with Solana’s DApps impressively increased to 875,250, while most competing blockchains experienced a decrease during the same seven-day period.

The recent activity increase on Solana could arguably be due to the anticipation of several upcoming airdrops and token launches, including but not limited to Bonkwifhat (BIF), Ribbit (RBT), Jupiter (JUP), Meow Coin (MEOW), Phantom, Kamino, Drift, and others. Moreover, the Solana network is consolidating its position by attracting more user participation, increasing its TVL, and attracting promising projects that could further strengthen its presence in the DApp industry.

Popular Wallet and Research Reports Support SOL

Popular hardware wallet provider Trezor announced its support for Solana and SPL tokens on December 20. Also on the same day, Binance Research released a bullish report on parallel computing, improving blockchain efficiency by “using computing resources more effectively”. The report specifically mentioned Solana as an example of parallel computing.
