Launched on February 20th, Humanity Protocol aims to be a less invasive option compared to other biometric methods like iris scans. Co-founder Balázs Némethi explains, “Unlike often invasive and burdensome proof-of-personhood solutions, Humanity Protocol promotes better equity and inclusion for users.”

Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, highlights the user-centric approach: “This cutting-edge, non-invasive biometric technology underpins the proof-of-humanity consensus mechanism, building a decentralized ecosystem that respects true digital ownership and can onboard millions to a verifiable digital identity solution.”

The protocol boasts 40,000 registered members within just three months. Its security relies on zero-knowledge proofs (ZK-proofs) on the Polygon CDK layer 2 and leverages the proof-of-humanity (PoH) consensus mechanism for identity validation.

Nikita Uriupin, founder of Exverse, believes advancements like ZK-proofs in privacy-preserving tech are crucial for Web3 adoption: “Web3 solutions offer even more confidence for Web2 in the face of constant data breaches.”

Indeed, IT Governance reports 2,814 data breaches in 2023, exposing over 8.2 billion documents. Humanity Protocol empowers users with complete data ownership, unlike Web2 systems.

Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, sees vast potential: “Humanity Protocol lays the foundation for a wide range of applications by being the first blockchain ecosystem that’s both sybil-resistant and integrates verifiable credentials into a decentralized validator network.”

Polygon Labs announced that the first version of AggLayer will be released in February.

The goal is to enable developers to connect blockchains to support unified liquidity. AggLayer will provide uniform security between modular and monolithic chains, including those found in the Polygon ecosystem.

This innovative solution will be a critical component of the next network version, Polygon 2.0. Unlike typical interoperability solutions, AlgLayer will aggregate ZK proofs from all connected chains.

“As a central component of Polygon 2.0, AggLayer will use ZK proofs to create a seamless, collective environment that feels like a single chain, even if each chain in the ecosystem remains independent,” said Polygon Labs.

Polygon will primarily run a Layer 2 network based on sidechains and ZK-Rollups, which includes: Polygon zkEVM

In addition, it also offers a software development kit called AggLayer CDK. Many Layer 2 networks, including OKX, Immutable, Astar, Canto, Palm Network, Aavegotchi, and IDEX, have been developed using this CDK toolkit. AggLayer is expected to facilitate the integration of all these chains within Polygon 2.0.

It aims to reduce gas fees for these projects, which are part of Polygon 2.0, a claimed ecosystem of Layer 2 chains that can interact with each other.

Layer 2 networks developed on Polygon’s CDK use zero-knowledge rollup technology. They aggregate transactions off-chain and finalize them in batches on the main chain.

However, these chains require data availability verification. This means ensuring that every network member can securely retrieve and validate the data stored off-chain.

A challenge arises because Ethereum, the platform that these chains rely on, lacks a dedicated execution environment for the DA layer.

As a result, Ethereum nodes need to process and store data on-chain indefinitely, which contributes to the higher fees of Layer 2 solutions. This is where data availability solutions can come in.

Celestia’s strategy includes its own data availability solution that can provide storage bandwidth for multiple Layer 2 networks simultaneously. This solution, which allows networks to run light nodes, makes DA verification easier without creating too much of a burden on the network.

Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, said, “Combined with the interoperability and unified liquidity provided by Polygon 2.0, Celestia’s turnkey solution will make creating new L2 chains as simple and affordable as deploying a smart contract.”

What is Celestia?

Celestia is a modular blockchain network and because it decouples the consensus mechanism, it allows anyone to easily create their own private blockchain, without the hassle of launching a new consensus network. These blockchains on Celestia operate simultaneously, independently, and securely.

Google Cloud, will join the validators in the Polygon blockchain network and will have a say for Polygon .

According to recent developments, Google Cloud, will be part of a decentralized group of over a hundred validators to ensure the security of the Polygon network.

Validators in the Polygon network strive to ensure the security of the network by running nodes, staking MATIC, and participating in the proof of stake consensus mechanism.

Google Cloud, in addition to confirming its collaboration with the Polygon network via its official account, also published a video containing details about the collaboration.

This month, @GoogleCloud became part of the decentralized validator set for Polygon PoS.

The same infrastructure used to power @YouTube and @gmail is now helping to secure the fast, low-cost, Ethereum-for-all Polygon protocol.

With 100+ validators securing the Polygon PoS…

— Polygon (Labs) (@0xPolygonLabs) September 29, 2023

It is very pleasing and essential that the Google Cloud’s power, which powers widely used platforms such as YouTube and Gmail, takes such a significant step for the crypto sector.

This collaboration not only contributes to efforts to secure the Polygon network but is also a promising step towards the future of the crypto sector.

Despite the ongoing downturn in the crypto market and regulatory pressure from the US government, the relationship between Google Cloud’ and Polygon Labs is emerging as an indicator of the company’s increasing interest in Web3 from late 2022 to 2023.
