The recent price drop in Lighter token may initially look like a routine market cooldown. But the developments on January 12 and 13 suggest otherwise. Timing, liquidity and market expectations broke down simultaneously, opening a window that exposed deeper structural weakness.

As the week began, LIT repeatedly tested key support levels. This wasn’t just scattered profit-taking. The price action pointed to something more persistent than a short-lived panic.

The Post-Airdrop Balance Never Fully Formed

The real fracture appeared after the airdrop. The new supply dynamics never truly settled. A large portion of distributed tokens failed to stay parked on-chain for long, leaving the order book thin even during upward attempts.

Selling didn’t arrive in one wave. It came in intervals, steady enough to erode buyer confidence. That pattern explains why every rebound attempt faded quickly.

January 12 Delivered a Quiet Warning

Market commentary on January 12 shared a common note: momentum was weakening and volume wasn’t supporting price. It wasn’t an aggressive call, but it mattered. At the time, price still looked technically intact, which made the risk easier to ignore.

That disconnect created a fragile setup. Buyers stepped back. Sellers waited. The imbalance was already there.

Buyback Optimism Failed to Stick

In early January, Lighter announced a treasury buyback program directing 50% of protocol fees toward token repurchases. The move briefly lifted sentiment and pushed LIT toward the 2.89 dollar level.

Yet the recovery leaned heavily on large wallets rather than broad demand. On-chain data showed buying concentrated among a small group of whale addresses, while early investors continued selling into strength. The move never spread across the market.

At the same time, sector-wide capital rotation added pressure. The buyback was priced in, but it failed to evolve into a lasting narrative.

January 13 Was the Outcome, Not the Trigger

By January 13, the structure was already compromised. Support levels held visually, but real buyers weren’t defending them. A modest sell wave was enough to set off a chain reaction.

Thin order books, accumulated leverage and a lack of near-term catalysts converged. Liquidations followed, stops were hit and price moved down fast. The panic came after the move, not before it.

Why This Matters

What happened to Lighter isn’t unique. It highlights how quickly markets punish gaps between supply management and expectation control, especially in early-stage projects.

Product development may continue, but price doesn’t trade on potential alone. When timing is vague, liquidity is shallow and narrative runs ahead of structure, patience disappears.

What Comes Next

In the short term, the key question is whether selling pressure truly fades. Without sustained calm in on-chain activity, forming a healthy base will be difficult.

A clearly timed, measurable update from the team could still shift sentiment quickly. Until then, the market appears to have placed Lighter in a temporary holding pattern.

This move looks less like a sudden collapse and more like delayed price discovery. Whether that process has finished remains unclear — and for now, uncertainty is exactly what the market is pricing in.

The crypto market experienced volatility over the weekend, pushing the total market capitalization above $3.7 trillion. However, around $500 billion in value was lost over the past week. Bitcoin dropped below $104,000 on most exchanges, marking the lowest level in months and raising concerns among investors.

Altcoins such as ETH, BNB, XRP, SOL, and DOGE also faced sharp declines, with ASTER and HYPE tokens standing out for their notable losses. Bitcoin price swings created uncertainty across the crypto market.

Bitcoin Stabilizes at $107,000

Earlier in the week, Bitcoin fell from $122,000 to $110,000, dipping to $101,000 on some exchanges. It recovered slightly over the weekend, staying above $110,000. During the workweek, it reached $116,000 before suddenly dropping back to $110,000. Ethereum trades at $3,875, while ZBT coin rose 31% and HYPER gained 25%.

After support broke on Thursday, Bitcoin dropped first to $108,000, then below $104,000. Comments from U.S. President Trump regarding tariffs on China being temporary helped Bitcoin retest $106,000, eventually settling at $107,000.

Altcoin Losses and Market Movements

Altcoins were largely affected by Bitcoin’s decline:

ETH fell below $3,900

BNB lost 3%, dropping below $1,100 support

TRX, DOGE, ADA, LINK, HYPE, BCH, SUI, AVAX, and HBAR declined

XRP, SOL, and XLM saw minor gains

Notable losses include COAI (-17%), AAVE (-5.3%), and ASTER (-5%), while ENA (+16.5%) and TAO (+11%) posted gains. These trends indicate ongoing market volatility for investors.

Key Highlights

Bitcoin steadied at $107,000

ASTER and HYPE saw significant losses

General altcoin downtrend persists

Crypto Market cap remains around $3.7 trillion

After a period of relative calm in the crypto markets, the tide has turned as Bitcoin faces renewed downward pressure. The 109,400-dollar resistance level, a key technical barrier, once again proved too strong for bulls to overcome.

This rejection sent BTC into a rapid decline, raising concerns among traders and market observers alike.

New Resistance Emerges As Key Level Breaks

Following the failed attempt to breach 109,400 dollars, Bitcoin also lost the 108,791-dollar support, falling as low as 107,500 dollars. With this shift, 108,791 now acts as a fresh resistance point, while the next critical support lies near 107,000 dollars.

You Might Be Interested In: Elon Musk Talks About the Name of a New Memecoin!

Analysts warn that if this support fails, BTC could continue its slide toward the 105,000-dollar range, marking a deeper correction in the short term. Such a move could trigger further selling and a rise in bearish sentiment.

What Should Investors Watch For?

Given the recent developments, caution is advised. Technical indicators are weakening, and declining trading volumes suggest a drop in market confidence. Holding the 107,000-dollar support is essential for a potential rebound.

Should that level give way, Bitcoin may face accelerated losses. Investors are urged to manage risk carefully and set clear stop-loss levels to protect against further downside volatility.

In the last 24 hours, $651 million in positions were liquidated. Bitcoin has gained approximately $12,000 in value so far in May. It rose from $94,000 to above $106,000, then retreated to around $102,000.

Reasons for Bitcoin Price Crash

Firstly, Bitcoin encountered technical resistance. Last week, BTC, which surpassed the high of $105,663, succumbed to heavy selling pressure. This led to a 4.23% price drop. CoinGlass data shows that $84.68 million of liquidations came from short positions, with $50.96 million from shorts. Additionally, Bitcoin’s volatility is at a 10-month low, making investors cautious. A bearish engulfing candlestick erased Sunday’s 3.23% gain. The critical support level stands out at $101,000. The volatility being at a 10-month low is keeping investors cautious.

Swissblock expects a decline if the price fails to hold the $101,500-$102,500 range.
Whale Activity Sparks Increased Volatility in SOL Market

On February 26, 2025, a significant market movement occurred. According to Lookonchain data, a whale unstaked 1,366,028 SOL (valued at $198 million) and transferred it to FalconX. After this transfer, FalconX deposited 440,202 SOL (valued at $62.6 million) to Binance and Coinbase. Following this movement, SOL‘s price initially dropped from $145.00 to $142.50. During this period, trading volumes increased, with Binance recording 5.2 million SOL traded and Coinbase seeing 3.8 million SOL traded.

This whale’s actions have created a perception of selling pressure, which led to a price dip. By 15:00 UTC, SOL’s price further decreased to $140.00, reflecting the market’s reaction to the perceived selling pressure.

For SOL, these developments could lead investors to adjust their strategies. The unstaked SOL tokens moving to centralized exchanges could indicate a potential sell-off, further increasing volatility. In this case, traders should be cautious of potential price declines and adjust their strategies accordingly.

This area hosts an unused order block, which indicates that it could provide strong support. A pullback to this region could potentially present a buying opportunity.

Jupiter’s Decline and Key Support Levels

Jupiter has made its way down to important price zones. In the daily chart analysis, if the price breaks below 0.7076 USD, the 0.63 – 0.65 USD range will become an important support zone. This area includes an unused order block, suggesting strong buying interest could emerge if the price reaches this level.

You Might Be Interested In: Elon Musk Talks About the Name of a New Memecoin!

Moreover, previous price actions and trading volumes have made this area a significant price region. If tested, it could trigger strong buying pressure, and the price might bounce back. However, if the price falls below this support, further selling pressure may follow.

What’s Happening on the 4-Hour Chart?

On the 4-hour chart, Jupiter has broken its previous downtrend, attempted a rally but has pulled back to the current support after testing a downward order block level. This indicates that Jupiter is facing a struggle to hold the current levels. The downward FVG (Fair Value Gap) region can serve as a potential resistance level to monitor. Traders may be waiting for a reversal signal at this level.

If the FVG region is broken, the upward movement might strengthen, pushing the price to test higher untested resistance levels. However, the crucial point to watch here is whether buyers will step in. If they do, the price could stabilize and move higher.

In recent days, one of the most dramatic drops in the crypto market has been seen in Melania Coin. Losing nearly 70% of its value within a few days, this coin has become the center of attention. Yet, this story is about more than just numbers—it involves the hidden forces, social dynamics, and future potential behind the crash.

The Technical Picture Behind the Decline

A closer look at the charts reveals that the decline in Melania Coin didn’t happen overnight. Starting from levels near 12,000 USDT, the drop accelerated as key support levels were broken. Downward-moving averages further confirmed that buyers lost control of the market. But is this solely about technical factors, or is there an unseen force driving the decline?

Could Melania Coin Become the New Trump Coin?

Projects tied to political names, like Trump Coin, often generate big promises and a “hype” wave. However, these projects often face sustainability issues. Melania Coin has the potential to create similar popularity with its name, but there is a key difference: Trump Coin quickly harnessed its name to rally a community, whereas Melania Coin seems to be facing a different scenario. The team must establish a stronger marketing strategy and a sustainable roadmap. Otherwise, this coin may only be remembered as a hype product.

Community support is crucial for crypto projects. Social media platforms have been both a great opportunity and a significant risk for Melania Coin. Contradictory statements and rumors spreading on platforms like Twitter and Telegram have led to panic among investors. This situation highlights the critical importance of a clear communication strategy. Melania Coin’s team must adopt a more transparent and clear approach to address this uncertainty.

What Lies Ahead for Melania Coin?

Every crash brings new opportunities. However, the recovery of Melania Coin will depend not just on market conditions but also on the project’s technical infrastructure, the team’s future plans, and community engagement. If Melania Coin hopes to replicate the success of Trump Coin, it must go beyond short-term hype and present a long-term vision.

In the hack incident, a wallet belonging to Blurr.eth was compromised. The hacker managed to steal 3,657 MKR worth $8.7 million and sold it for 2,482 ETH on-chain.

-This theft had a significant impact on the market and caused the price of the MKR altcoin to drop from $2.462 to $2.280, representing a 7% drop in the short term.

Despite the partial recovery following the sudden drop, the MKR price has not been able to reach its pre-hack level. At the time of writing, the MKR price is trading at $2.390.

Popular memecoin Normie has seen its price plummet by over 99% after falling victim to a flash loan attack. Here are the details.

A memecoin named Normie has been subjected to a severe attack that caused its price to drop by over 99% in just a minute.

The token’s market capitalization, in a shocking turn of events, plunged from a staggering $40 million to around $170,000.

Normie’s supply was significantly inflated by the attacker exploiting a vulnerability in the token contract’s tax mechanism to execute a flash loan attack. This type of attack involves borrowing a large amount of cryptocurrency and using it to manipulate the market before repaying the loan within the same transaction.

Trading at $0.042 before the attack, Normie’s price has nosedived by 99.54% as of this writing, hovering around $0.0001812.

However, the token was not listed on any major centralized exchanges. It was only trading on Justin Sun’s crypto exchange HTX and decentralized exchanges. The token experienced a staggering 24-hour trading volume of $41.3 million due to the attack.

Normie was operating on Coinbase’s layer-2 solution Base.
