Former Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra, delivered a speech at the Intercontinental Hotel in Hua Hin, urging the Thai government to study cryptocurrencies and continue sandbox experiments to remain relevant on the global stage.

Shinawatra did not suggest that Thailand should buy cryptocurrencies but emphasized the importance of understanding digital assets and the global digitalization trends. He stated, “There are already many cryptocurrencies. Some people say that in the future, we will have more currencies than countries. Thai people must think and understand this.”

He also highlighted that the incoming Trump administration’s trade tariffs and the idea of paying off the national debt with Bitcoin make understanding the digital economy even more critical.

Thailand’s Digital Economy Initiatives

August 2024: The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced a regulatory sandbox for crypto service providers, creating a testing environment for experimental financial technologies.

July 2024: The Pheu Thai Party distributed digital cash worth 10,000 baht (approximately $280) to 45 million residents as an economic stimulus.

September 2024: Kasikornbank, Thailand’s second-largest bank, launched the country’s first licensed crypto custody service for digital asset businesses.

October 2024: The Thailand SEC proposed allowing investment funds to access crypto investments.

October 2024: The Bank of Thailand partnered with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) to test tokenized cross-border payments, as part of HKMA’s Project Ensemble.

These developments reflect Thailand’s proactive efforts in crypto regulations and the digital economy, showcasing its dedication to innovation and adaptation in the global financial landscape.

The European Blockchain Sandbox Initiative (EBSI) has announced the onboarding of 41 regulators and authorities from 22 countries as part of its second cohort, further boosting blockchain innovation and regulatory collaboration across Europe.

As of September 30, the initiative includes participants from a wide range of countries, such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands, as well as smaller nations like Malta, Cyprus, and Liechtenstein. The regulators from both the European Union and the European Economic Area aim to work together to support the development of distributed ledger technology (DLT) across various sectors.

Supporting Blockchain Innovation

Launched by the European Commission, the EBSI seeks to create a framework where blockchain projects, regulators, and authorities can collaborate to overcome regulatory barriers and foster innovation. The sandbox provides a confidential environment where participants can exchange knowledge, identify legal challenges, and explore blockchain use cases safely.

Might interest you: What is BabyDoge?

The initiative aims to improve regulatory certainty around decentralized technologies like blockchain, allowing regulators to gain deeper insight into these cutting-edge solutions. The European Commission highlighted that the sandbox will provide legal advice and regulatory guidance to selected projects, helping to bridge the gap between innovators and regulators.

As Hong Kong approaches testing tokenization inside the conventional financial sector, the island has opened a sandbox for experiment Ensemble, a wholesale central bank digital currency experiment (CBDC).

Usually used by financial organizations rather than the general public, wholesale CBDCs are used for daily transactions. Retail CBDCs are not utilized for interbank settlements or large-value payments; wholesale CBDCs are used in these regards.

Declared the sandbox on Wednesday, the de facto central bank, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, specified the four areas it will first concentrate on: fixed income and investment funds, liquidity management, green and sustainable finance, trade, and supply chain finance.

The HKMA said that experimental tokenized money is meant to help interbank settlement. Among the main players are Microsoft, Ant Digital, HashKey, Hang Seng Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of China, and HSBC. Additionally scheduled to take part in the Project Ensemble Sandbox are many asset managers: BlackRock, CSOP Asset Management, Franklin Templeton, and China Asset Management.

Following the HKMA’s Project Ensemble in March as part of the second phase of its e-HKD pilot to investigate programmability, tokenization, and atomic settlement linked with the CBDC in the trial, the sandbox’s launch follows. Its website claims that the HKMA started investigating CBDCs in 2017 and started giving more study on a possible e-HKD in 2021 at both wholesale and retail levels as a top priority.

“We have been inspired by the great industry interest in creative ideas to redefine the digital finance scene since the launch of Project Ensemble in March,” HKMA chief executive Eddie Yue said in the Wednesday statement. “The introduction of the Project Ensemble Sandbox marks a major step forward for the HKMA and the industry to explore the application of tokenization in real-life business scenarios,” Yue said.

Ant Digital Technologies, the blockchain division of Ant Group, stated in line with the sandbox that it aims to increase finance efficiency. For instance, Longshine Technology, an energy company, has “successfully secured its first cross-border financing for RWAs in Hong Kong,” Ant Digital noted, having digitized over 9,000 of its charging piles as “real world assets” ( RWAs).

According to its announcement, Hong Kong-based digital asset services company HashKey Group also intends to test tokenization and trading of RWAs, including carbon credits, green assets, and money market funds.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has launched a regulatory sandbox aimed at providing potential stablecoin issuers with an environment to develop and test specific operations without facing penalties.

According to the regulator, the sandbox offers regulatory flexibility and is in line with Hong Kong‘s strategy to oversee fiat-backed stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies tied to the value of sovereign currencies such as the U.S. or Hong Kong dollar. The announcement was made by the HKMA on Tuesday.

Interested applicants are invited to participate in the sandbox if they have a genuine interest in establishing a stablecoin issuance business in Hong Kong and possess a reasonable business plan. Additionally, their proposed operations within the sandbox must be conducted within a limited scope and in a manner that controls risks, as stated in the HKMA notice.

In December, regulators in the jurisdiction began soliciting public feedback on their regulatory proposals for stablecoins. This included a requirement for issuers to obtain licensing to operate in Hong Kong.

“The HKMA aims to utilize the sandbox framework to convey supervisory expectations to parties looking to issue fiat-referenced stablecoins in Hong Kong, while also gathering feedback from participants regarding the proposed regulatory standards,” the notice outlined.

NAKA (Nakamoto Games) is a Play-to-Earn (P2E) platform known for high-quality blockchain games that offer players a significant and recurring income opportunity.

It not only provides to players. However, it also allows developers to broadcast their games to a large user base.

Initially started on Ethereum, Nakamoto Games moved to the Polygon network after receiving an investment proposal from the Polygon Blockchain. With this grant, Nakamoto Games became the first Play to Earn project to receive a grant from the Polygon Blockchain. Also, players on Nakamoto Games can earn $NAKA by playing games and achieving certain goals. The earned currency can then be used to purchase in-game items or converted into traditional currency.

Chawalit Rugsasri(Tor) is the CEO of Nakamoto Games. Chawalit is also no stranger to blockchain technology and has been working at Sublime Solidity Inc since 2019, providing scaling services to projects in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Phiriyaphong Phumphoang(George) is the name of the head of the business operation (COO). In recent years, Phiriyaphong has worked as a project manager on many high-level real estate and IT infrastructure projects.

Rumchawun Keeratipitayaporn(Yam) is the project’s marketing manager (CMO). Rumchawun led digital marketing efforts at Thailand’s most prestigious online media agencies between 2014 and 2018.

The Potential of NAKA (Nakamoto Games) in Bull Run:

Thanks to its hardworking and experienced team, Nakamoto Games has great potential in the upcoming Bull Run, even in this current Bear Period. The team aims to become one of the biggest play-to-earn projects in the industry.

Currently, Nakamoto Games is receiving great interest in the community for providing high-quality games and for offering consistent income for players. The grant they received from Polygon Blockchain also drew attention to NAKA.

To see the real potential of Nakamoto Games, we can look at Enjin, Axie Infinity, Sandbox, and Decentraland, play-to-earn projects from the past Bull Run. Let’s take a look at their market value when they reached their all-time highs during the past bull run:

The market value of Axie Infinity is 9.78 billion USD, Enjin’s is 3.54 billion USD, Sandbox has reached 6.66 Billion USD, and Decentraland was 8.91 billion USD.

The current market value of NAKA is only 67 million dollars, and we can say that it is just at the beginning of its journey. We can say that NAKA didn’t showcase its full bull potential as it entered the market towards the end of the 2021 bull run, which is really important because investors generally prefer new products rather than saturated ones from the previous bull run. We know marketing is one of the most critical aspects of a project. The team behind Nakamoto Games has an experienced marketing expert (CMO).

In summary, as the Nakamoto Games team continues to develop its platform and attract new players to its ecosystem, there is no doubt that $NAKA could be one of the biggest Play to Earn projects in the next Bull Run.
