Institutional buying in the cryptocurrency market continues at full speed. Strategy, a U.S.-based technology company, announced that it made a significant Bitcoin investment last week. According to the company’s statement, Strategy purchased 17,994 Bitcoin at an average price of $70,946. The total value of this purchase is estimated to be approximately $1.23 billion. This move is seen as another step in the company’s long-standing Bitcoin accumulation strategy. Over the past few years, Strategy has become one of the strongest advocates of this approach among institutional investors by holding large amounts of Bitcoin on its balance sheet. According to experts, large-scale purchases like this show that institutional interest in the crypto market remains strong and that Bitcoin is increasingly being viewed as a corporate reserve asset.

A Massive Billion-Dollar Bitcoin Purchase

According to the announcement, Strategy’s latest acquisition was worth around $1.23 billion. This purchase demonstrates that the company remains committed to its Bitcoin strategy and continues to view digital assets as an important long-term component of its balance sheet. Company executives have previously stated that they view Bitcoin not only as an investment tool but also as a long-term store of value. With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total Bitcoin reserves have increased even further. In recent years, the strategy of accumulating Bitcoin has become one of the most notable trends among institutional investors. Many companies continue to add Bitcoin to their portfolios as a hedge against inflation and as an alternative reserve asset.

Institutional Interest in Bitcoin Continues

Strategy’s latest purchase shows that institutional interest in Bitcoin remains strong. When large corporations regularly buy BTC, it is often seen as a strong demand signal for the market. Institutional participation is also considered a factor that strengthens Bitcoin’s position within the global financial system. According to experts, such institutional purchases are among the developments that reinforce Bitcoin’s long-term value narrative.

“The strategy of corporations accumulating Bitcoin is one of the most important developments increasing long-term confidence in the market.”

Possible Impact on the Bitcoin Market

Large-scale purchases made by companies like Strategy can also influence market liquidity and investor psychology. Increasing institutional demand may lead to more Bitcoin being held in corporate wallets, which could reduce the circulating supply in the market over time. According to analysts, this trend indicates that Bitcoin is increasingly being viewed as an institutional asset class. Furthermore, the entry of institutional investors into the market could contribute to greater acceptance of crypto assets within the traditional financial system. With its latest purchase, Strategy has once again demonstrated its commitment to Bitcoin and its intention to keep digital assets at the center of its corporate strategy. Large-scale institutional investments like this are expected to continue playing an important role in shaping the future direction of the Bitcoin market.

Institutional interest in Bitcoin continues at full pace in 2026. Regular purchases by major companies and funds are being closely monitored for their impact on the market’s long-term outlook. In this context, Strategy announced that it purchased a total of 3,015 Bitcoin between February 23, 2026, and March 1, 2026. The acquisition was made at an average price of $67,700, with a total value of approximately $204.1 million. This move demonstrates that the company continues to view Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset and is maintaining its accumulation strategy despite price volatility.

New Bitcoin Move from Strategy

According to the company’s statement, Strategy carried out gradual purchases over the course of a week, adding 3,015 BTC to its portfolio. The fact that the acquisition was made at levels close to current market prices highlights the company’s long-term value-driven investment approach rather than a focus on short-term price movements. With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total Bitcoin reserves have grown even further. The company continues to position BTC as a strategic reserve asset on its balance sheet. This approach reinforces the narrative of Bitcoin as “digital gold” and a hedge against inflation, while also encouraging similar strategies among other institutional firms. The inclusion of Bitcoin in corporate balance sheets signals growing acceptance of crypto assets within the traditional financial world.

Why Is Institutional Bitcoin Demand Important?

Large-scale purchases by corporations and institutional investors are considered one of the most significant factors contributing to increased confidence in the crypto market. Institutional investors typically favor long-term positions over short-term speculation. As a result, major acquisitions can reduce circulating supply and create supportive effects on price in the medium to long term.

Regular and planned buying activity indicates that institutions increasingly see Bitcoin as a strategic asset. Strategy’s latest purchase is particularly notable because it occurred during a period of market volatility, showing that institutional demand remains resilient. Such moves can serve as an important confidence reference point for individual investors.

How Do Analysts Interpret Institutional Buying?

Market analysts note that large-scale institutional Bitcoin purchases often intensify near market bottoms. This suggests that institutional investors may treat price declines as buying opportunities, following long-term accumulation strategies. Increased institutional buying also enhances Bitcoin’s legitimacy within traditional finance and strengthens its role as a portfolio diversification tool—especially during periods of inflation and global economic uncertainty. Strategy’s $204.1 million Bitcoin purchase highlights continued strong institutional demand and sustained confidence among large investors. While such acquisitions may have limited short-term price impact, they can influence long-term supply-demand dynamics and contribute to strengthening the overall market structure.

As one of the companies with the highest institutional exposure to Bitcoin, Strategy main share MSTR has been going through a sharp value loss process in recent months. With approximately 720,000 BTC on the company’s balance sheet, the stock’s performance is directly sensitive to Bitcoin price movements. However, the recent picture shows an even weaker performance than Bitcoin itself.

Bitcoin Fell, MSTR Declined Even More Sharply

While Bitcoin closed five consecutive months in negative territory, this streak has reached eight months for MSTR stock. During the summer months, the stock reached its all-time high above the $450 level along with Bitcoin’s rally. However, as Bitcoin pulled back from the $126,000 level in October, selling pressure on MSTR accelerated even further.

As of today, MSTR is trading around the $129 level. In the last six months, while Bitcoin lost approximately 50% of its value, the decline in MSTR exceeded 60%. Looking solely at February’s performance, Bitcoin declined by 14%, while MSTR recorded a loss of around 20%. This picture once again demonstrates why the stock is referred to as “leveraged Bitcoin”: sharper premiums during rises and deeper losses during declines.

Geopolitical Risk and Market Opening

The fact that U.S. markets will open for the first time since the Iran war began over the weekend also increases short-term risks. If geopolitical tension remains high, selling pressure is likely to continue in risky assets, including MSTR.

That said, Bitcoin beginning to test the $70,000 level again does not make the scenario entirely one-sided. A potential recovery move could bring a sharp “short squeeze” rally in MSTR as well.

Expectation of New Bitcoin Purchase

Another item on the market’s agenda is the expectation that Strategy could announce a new Bitcoin purchase. The recent post by the company’s founder Michael Saylor indicates that a new BTC acquisition for the past week could be announced.

Due to its high Bitcoin position, MSTR stock continues to behave more like a high-beta derivative of the crypto market rather than a classic technology stock. In the coming days, both Bitcoin’s price and macroeconomic developments will be decisive for the stock’s direction.

Due to its strong correlation with Bitcoin, shares of Strategy (MSTR) are closely monitored by investors, and short positions in the stock have reached record levels. Recent sharp volatility in Bitcoin’s price has also increased fluctuations in MSTR shares, prompting investors to reshape their positioning strategies. However, according to experts, the rise in short interest does not necessarily reflect a direct expectation of a market decline; rather, it stems from hedging and portfolio balancing strategies. Institutional investors are reportedly acting more cautiously amid volatility in Bitcoin and crypto-related assets and have begun using MSTR shares as a hedge instrument. This development highlights that MSTR is now viewed not only as a technology stock but also as an indirect Bitcoin investment vehicle.

MSTR Seen as a “Leveraged Bitcoin Proxy”

Since 2020, Strategy has been known for its aggressive Bitcoin purchases, effectively transforming into what many investors see as a leveraged Bitcoin exposure vehicle. The company’s large BTC holdings on its balance sheet have made its stock performance highly sensitive to Bitcoin’s price movements. As a result, MSTR shares typically rise faster during Bitcoin rallies and decline more sharply during downturns. According to recent data, short positions in MSTR amount to roughly 14% of the company’s total market capitalization. Similarly, short interest in Coinbase has reportedly climbed to around 11%. Analysts note that these levels are significantly high compared to normal market conditions and emphasize that the growing short activity is directly linked to risk management and hedging strategies rather than outright bearish speculation.

Experts suggest that the heavy short interest in MSTR shares is primarily part of a hedging approach. In particular, institutional players investing in Bitcoin ETFs open short positions in MSTR to balance their portfolios.

The core logic of this strategy works as follows:

If Bitcoin falls, ETF investments lose value, while MSTR shares generally decline more sharply. In this case, gains from the MSTR short position can offset losses on the ETF side. If Bitcoin rises, profits from the ETF increase, while potential losses on the MSTR short position may remain relatively limited.

For this reason, investors are using MSTR short trades less as a “Bitcoin will fall” speculation and more as a portfolio balancing tool.

The Strategy Has Not Worked as Expected This Year

However, according to analysts, this hedge strategy did not perform as expected in 2026. Under normal conditions, MSTR shares were expected to fall more sharply than Bitcoin, allowing short positions to compensate for ETF losses. Yet price movements throughout the year did not fully support this theoretical balance, limiting the strategy’s effectiveness. As of 2026, MSTR shares have declined by approximately 20%, while iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), one of the largest spot Bitcoin ETFs, has dropped around 27%. This outcome shows that investors employing the “ETF long – MSTR short” strategy did not receive the level of protection they anticipated.

In other words, despite Bitcoin’s decline, MSTR shares fell less than the ETF, and gains from short positions were insufficient to fully offset ETF losses. In theory, MSTR should have declined more aggressively during a Bitcoin downturn, generating meaningful hedge gains. In practice, the larger losses in ETFs prevented this strategy from delivering the expected protection. This may prompt institutional investors to reassess crypto-linked hedging methods.

Evaluation

The record level of short positions in Strategy shares does not necessarily signal growing bearish expectations in the market. On the contrary, it reflects increasingly sophisticated risk management strategies among investors exposed to Bitcoin and crypto-related assets. However, recent data suggests that popular protection methods such as “ETF long – MSTR short” do not always function as intended. Diverging price dynamics between Bitcoin and MSTR may lead investors to revisit and refine their hedge strategies moving forward.

Institutional investors continue their Bitcoin accumulation strategy without slowing down. Strategy announced that it purchased a total of 592 BTC between February 17 and February 22, 2026. This new acquisition drew attention, especially given the heightened market volatility during this period. The company’s regular Bitcoin purchases indicate that institutional investors are focusing on long-term value storage rather than short-term price fluctuations. Strategy’s latest move is seen as a strong signal that institutional confidence in Bitcoin remains steady, and large investors continue to strengthen their market positions.

BTC Purchased at an Average Price of $67,286

According to the data released, Strategy bought 592 BTC at an average price of $67,286 per coin, with a total cost of approximately $39.8 million. This purchase, made during a period of increased price swings, attracted significant market attention. Institutional-scale acquisitions like this are considered important indicators of market sentiment. Large companies often view price pullbacks as long-term buying opportunities, and Strategy’s recent purchase reflects this approach. Continuing a Bitcoin accumulation strategy despite short-term volatility demonstrates institutional investors’ confidence in the long-term potential of the market. This reinforces Bitcoin’s position as a store-of-value asset within corporate portfolios.

Strategy’s regular BTC purchases show that Bitcoin continues to be adopted as a corporate reserve asset. These consistent acquisitions indicate that a significant portion of circulating supply is held by long-term investors, which can help limit selling pressure and support strong long-term price expectations. Analysts note that ongoing institutional purchases are critical for maintaining market confidence. Large-scale companies holding Bitcoin on their balance sheets continue to strengthen the cryptocurrency’s role within the broader financial system.

Possible Market Impacts

Regular Bitcoin purchases by institutional players like Strategy support long-term demand in the market. Adding BTC to corporate balance sheets sends a strong signal beyond just the volume acquired — it reinforces market confidence.

Such acquisitions typically have the following effects:

Provide a long-term confidence signal

Reduce selling pressure by removing a significant portion of supply from circulation

Support market psychology and boost investor confidence

Demonstrate strengthened institutional adoption

Purchases during volatile periods are interpreted positively because they show that large investors are not exiting the market, even amid price swings. This can also influence retail investor sentiment, helping maintain long-term expectations.

Assessment

Strategy’s acquisition of 592 BTC for approximately $39.8 million underscores that institutional investors are continuing their long-term strategy toward Bitcoin. Even amid ongoing market fluctuations, consistent purchases by major players strengthen Bitcoin’s position as a corporate reserve asset. Going forward, whether institutional accumulation continues will remain a key factor influencing the overall direction of the crypto market.

Strategy, the company that placed Bitcoin at the core of its corporate treasury strategy, appears to be on the verge of another landmark moment. A recent social media post by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor has fueled speculation that the firm is preparing to execute its 100th Bitcoin acquisition.

What Does “The Orange Century” Signal?

Saylor shared a chart from StrategyTracker accompanied by the phrase “The Orange Century.” Historically, similar posts have preceded official announcements of new Bitcoin purchases. Given that the company has completed 99 separate acquisitions since initiating its Bitcoin strategy in 2020, the next transaction would mark its 100th buy — a symbolic achievement reflecting the scale and consistency of its accumulation program.

Notably, Strategy has acquired Bitcoin for 12 consecutive weeks. If another purchase is announced this week, that streak would extend to 13 weeks. Despite challenging market conditions, there are no visible signs that the company intends to slow its pace.

A Treasury of 717,131 BTC

Strategy currently holds 717,131 BTC, acquired at an average cost of $76,027 per coin. With Bitcoin trading near $64,700, the company’s position is temporarily below its average purchase price. However, short-term price fluctuations do not appear to have altered its long-term conviction.

The firm’s approach has consistently emphasized strategic accumulation rather than tactical market timing.

From Skepticism to Market Leadership

Strategy’s Bitcoin journey began in August 2020 with an initial $250 million purchase. At the time, Saylor had previously expressed skepticism toward Bitcoin, but he soon became one of its most prominent corporate advocates.

The decision was framed as a hedge against inflation and a move to preserve and enhance shareholder value over time. Nearly six years later, Strategy has become the largest public holder of Bitcoin globally. Its treasury model has inspired numerous other companies to explore similar digital asset strategies.

Since the first Bitcoin purchase in 2020, Strategy’s share price has climbed approximately 950%, rising from $12.44 to $131.05.

The anticipated 100th acquisition would not only represent a numerical milestone but also reinforce the broader narrative of sustained institutional commitment to Bitcoin accumulation.

Strategy made another notable move in the crypto market last week by purchasing 2,486 Bitcoin at an average price of $67,710. The acquisition, worth approximately $168.4 million, demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to its Bitcoin accumulation strategy and highlights the sustained institutional interest in digital assets. With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings have risen to 717,131 BTC. These holdings were acquired at an average cost of $76,027 per Bitcoin, bringing the company’s total Bitcoin investment to approximately $54.52 billion. This positions Strategy as one of the largest institutional Bitcoin holders globally and reaffirms its long-term approach of treating BTC as a strategic reserve asset.

$168.4 Million Bitcoin Move from Strategy

Strategy continues to execute its Bitcoin accumulation strategy with determination. In its most recent purchase, the company paid an average of $67,710 per BTC, acquiring 2,486 Bitcoin worth roughly $168.4 million. This latest move clearly shows that Strategy remains committed to positioning Bitcoin as a long-term reserve asset and strategic investment vehicle, regardless of short-term market conditions. The company’s disciplined accumulation model indicates that there has been no shift in its long-term Bitcoin investment policy. By continuing to buy at regular intervals, Strategy expands its holdings without being deterred by short-term price volatility.

At a time when many institutional investors are acting cautiously amid market uncertainty, Strategy’s consistent Bitcoin purchases are being interpreted as a confidence signal for the broader crypto market. As of February 16, 2026, Strategy holds a total of 717,131 BTC. Acquired at an average cost of $76,027, the company has invested approximately $54.52 billion in Bitcoin. These figures firmly establish Strategy as one of the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin investors.

Bitcoin Price and Institutional Impact

Recent fluctuations and upward movements in Bitcoin’s price are often associated with large-scale institutional buying. Regular, high-volume BTC purchases by companies like Strategy can reduce circulating supply in the market, potentially creating upward pressure on prices. This dynamic strengthens investor confidence and signals Bitcoin’s expanding role within institutional portfolios. According to experts, the growing adoption of Bitcoin as a reserve asset by corporations could significantly reshape market dynamics over the long term.

As more major companies continue adding BTC to their balance sheets, this trend may not only support price stability but also encourage new investors to enter the market. Analysts suggest that increasing institutional Bitcoin investment could remain one of the most critical factors shaping the crypto market throughout 2026, potentially reinforcing long-term bullish scenarios.

Strategy Accelerates Its Bitcoin Accumulation

Strategy’s latest $168.4 million Bitcoin purchase underscores its strong commitment to a digital asset-focused long-term financial strategy. The company appears focused on long-term value potential rather than short-term price movements, steadily expanding its portfolio through systematic acquisitions. Reaching a total of 717,131 BTC further consolidates Strategy’s leadership among corporate entities holding the largest Bitcoin reserves. Possessing digital asset reserves of this scale signals that Strategy will likely continue to play a significant role—not only in the technology and finance sectors but also within the global crypto ecosystem.

Strategy, widely recognized for its Bitcoin-centered treasury approach, has announced plans to convert approximately $6 billion in convertible bond debt into equity over the next three to six years. The initiative, outlined by founder Michael Saylor, is designed to reduce balance sheet leverage and enhance the company’s long-term financial flexibility.

According to company statements, Strategy maintains a capital structure resilient enough to withstand extreme downside scenarios in Bitcoin’s price. Management asserts that even if Bitcoin were to decline to $8,000, the firm would still hold sufficient assets to fully cover its outstanding debt obligations. With roughly 714,644 BTC on its balance sheet—valued at approximately $49 billion—the company’s digital asset reserves significantly exceed its $6 billion in convertible debt. In practical terms, Bitcoin would need to fall by about 88% for asset values to align with the debt level.

What Converting Convertible Debt Means

Converting convertible bonds into equity involves issuing shares to bondholders instead of repaying the principal in cash. This strategy reduces debt liabilities and strengthens the company’s equity base, potentially lowering financial risk during volatile market cycles.

However, such a move carries implications for existing shareholders. Issuing new shares can lead to dilution, reducing the proportional ownership of current investors. Despite this trade-off, Strategy appears to prioritize balance sheet durability and long-term sustainability over short-term equity concentration.

Bitcoin Exposure and Current Positioning

Strategy’s average Bitcoin acquisition cost stands at approximately $76,000 per BTC. With Bitcoin currently trading near $68,400, the company is operating at an unrealized loss of roughly 10% on its holdings. Nonetheless, recent signals from Saylor suggest that the firm may continue accumulating Bitcoin. If another purchase is executed, it would mark 12 consecutive weeks of buying activity.

Stock Performance and Market Context

Strategy’s stock (MSTR) closed the week at $133.88, reflecting an 8.8% gain, coinciding with Bitcoin’s brief recovery above the $70,000 level. However, the cryptocurrency later retreated back toward $68,400.

Despite the recent uptick, MSTR shares remain approximately 70% below their mid-July all-time high of $456. Similarly, Bitcoin has declined around 50% from its early October peak.

The company’s decision to equitize its convertible debt represents a strategic recalibration at the intersection of corporate finance and digital asset exposure, and it remains a closely watched development in both markets.

Michael Saylor has once again reaffirmed his company’s unwavering commitment to Bitcoin, making it clear that Strategy has no intention of reducing its exposure. According to Saylor, the firm’s long-term roadmap remains intact regardless of short-term market volatility.

The company is not considering selling its holdings and plans to continue accumulating Bitcoin on a quarterly basis. This disciplined acquisition model underscores a strategic approach rather than a reactionary one.

Michael Saylor: “We Will Make Purchases Every Quarter”

Saylor emphasized that Strategy will keep purchasing Bitcoin every quarter, reinforcing its position as a long-term corporate holder. He also reiterated his belief that over the next four to eight years, Bitcoin could deliver returns that are two to three times higher than those of the S&P 500.

This outlook reflects Strategy’s broader thesis: Bitcoin is not simply a treasury reserve asset but a high-conviction, long-duration growth allocation.

According to company data, Strategy currently holds 714,644 BTC. With an estimated market value of approximately $49 billion, this makes the firm the largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally. The scale of this position highlights the depth of Strategy’s commitment to its digital asset strategy.

Prepared Even for Extreme Downside Scenarios

Perhaps the most striking part of Saylor’s remarks concerned downside risk management. He stated that even if Bitcoin were to decline by 90% over the next four years, the company would not be forced to liquidate. Instead, Strategy would refinance its debt and extend maturities if necessary.

This suggests that the company’s capital structure is designed with high volatility in mind. Rather than being exposed to forced selling under stress, Strategy appears prepared to actively manage liabilities to maintain its Bitcoin holdings.

A Long-Term Capital Allocation Thesis

Strategy’s stance reflects a conviction-driven, long-term capital allocation framework. By committing to regular purchases and rejecting the idea of selling, the company positions Bitcoin as a core strategic asset rather than a tactical trade.

Despite ongoing market fluctuations, Strategy’s message is clear: its Bitcoin accumulation strategy is structural, not cyclical.

What is MicroStrategy (Strategy)?

While institutional Bitcoin investments continue to be closely watched in the crypto markets, Strategy has once again made a notable purchase. According to official disclosures from the company, MicroStrategy acquired 1,142 Bitcoin (BTC) between February 2, 2026, and February 8, 2026, at an average price of $78,815 per BTC. This move demonstrates that the company continues its Bitcoin accumulation strategy regardless of short-term market conditions.

A New Million-Dollar Bitcoin Purchase

The total cost of this latest acquisition was announced at approximately $90 million. With this transaction, Strategy once again reaffirmed its approach of placing Bitcoin at the center of its balance sheet strategy. The company’s regular purchases show that it maintains a long-term perspective despite price volatility. According to analysts, this strategy is aimed more at protecting against macroeconomic risks rather than reacting to short-term market fluctuations.

What Does This Mean for the Market?

Experts note that continued Bitcoin purchases by large-scale companies like Strategy are a strong signal that institutional adoption remains intact and that long-term conviction has not weakened. While such acquisitions may have a limited impact on price in the short term, they play an important role in the medium to long term by supporting Bitcoin’s supply-demand balance, reducing liquid supply in the market, and strengthening overall market sentiment. Additionally, these moves serve as reference examples for other institutional investors considering Bitcoin as part of their balance sheet management.

Assessment

Strategy’s latest purchase of 1,142 BTC once again confirms the company’s long-term commitment to Bitcoin and its strategic stance. This investment of roughly $90 million highlights that institutional players continue to view Bitcoin as a permanent asset class within balance sheet management, standing out as a confidence-boosting and structurally supportive development for the broader market.
