Telegram’s embedded crypto solution, Wallet in Telegram, has introduced onchain yield functionality for users holding Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and USDT. With this update, TON Wallet evolves beyond a simple self-custodial storage tool and positions itself as a gateway to third-party DeFi strategies directly within the Telegram ecosystem.

This move reflects a broader shift: messaging platforms are no longer just communication hubs, but increasingly serve as access points to decentralized financial services.

The Launch of Vaults in TON Wallet

The new feature is accessible through TON Wallet, the self-custodial component of Wallet in Telegram. The integration has been supported by DeFi-focused players including Morpho, TAC and Re7.

At the core of the rollout is a set of “Vaults,” which allow users to deposit their assets into onchain strategies designed to generate variable returns. These strategies are structured to optimize yield opportunities while maintaining a self-custodial framework.

Among the USDT options, one of the highlighted strategies—powered by Re7—offers a blended annual percentage yield (APY) of up to 18%. In addition, dedicated ETH and BTC Vaults extend yield-generating capabilities to two of the most widely held cryptocurrencies in the market. This means users can move beyond passive holding and put their assets to work directly within the Telegram interface.

TON Ecosystem and Telegram Expanding Role

Since 2024, blockchain developers have increasingly looked to Telegram’s vast global user base as a gateway into The Open Network (TON) ecosystem. Early traction was partly driven by tap-to-earn mini apps offering token-based incentives. While initial enthusiasm was strong, maintaining long-term engagement has proven challenging.

Wallet in Telegram, backed by The Open Platform, reportedly serves more than 150 million registered users. This scale represents a significant opportunity to bridge mainstream audiences with decentralized finance infrastructure.

Bringing DeFi to a Broader Audience

According to Andrew Rogozov, founder and CEO of The Open Platform and Wallet in Telegram, the introduction of Vaults is intended to narrow the gap between advanced DeFi protocols and everyday users. By enabling self-custodial vault strategies for BTC, ETH and USDT directly within the TON ecosystem, the platform aims to make decentralized finance more accessible and practical for millions.

Thanks to the xStocks integration, users can now easily access various tokenized assets through the Telegram Wallet. Telegram is bringing together the US-based Kraken exchange and the Backed platform with its crypto wallet app, Telegram Wallet. Through this partnership, users will be able to buy and sell tokenized stocks and ETFs. The new system will be activated with the xStocks integration.

Telegram Wallet: First Phase and User-Friendly Access

The first phase of the project will begin in October 2025. Initially, users will have access to 35 stocks and ETFs. Leading companies such as Circle (CRCLX), Coinbase (COINX), Robinhood (HOODX), MicroStrategy (MSTR), and Nvidia (NVDA) will be included in the list. They will expand the list to over 60 assets by the end of the year.

Tokenized stocks will be accessible via Telegram’s custodial wallet and TON Wallet. Backed officials stated that trading will be commission-free until the end of 2025; standard transaction fees will apply for withdrawals.

Cryptocurrency wallet provider SafePal has announced the launch of a new Mini Wallet App for its 950 million Telegram users, which will allow users to create their own crypto-friendly Swiss bank accounts in their own names. SafePal’s move comes as part of its strategy to join the rapidly growing Telegram crypto ecosystem.

SafePal unveiled its new Telegram Mini Wallet App at the TON Gateway event dedicated to The Open Network (TON) ecosystem on November 2. According to the company, the app will allow users to open compliant bank accounts licensed by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA).

First Telegram Mini App with CeDeFi Support

SafePal’s new crypto wallet on Telegram stands out as the first Telegram Mini App that combines the principles of centralized and decentralized finance (CeDeFi) to enable transactions with a digital crypto Visa card. This wallet, which is planned to be live in November, stands out with its compatible bank accounts feature.

SafePal’s decision to enter the Telegram ecosystem comes after the popularity of tap-to-earn Telegram games, which saw significant growth in 2024. SafePal co-founder and CEO Veronica Wong stated that these apps have proven to be an effective platform for bringing users together with the Web3 sector, saying:

“While these apps provide entertainment and rewards for users, we also want to solve critical problems such as crypto-friendly and compliant banking access for over 950 million Telegram users.”
