President Donald Trump has recently drawn attention with his latest statements regarding global trade and the Federal Reserve (Fed). These remarks could significantly shape both America’s foreign trade relations and domestic economic policies.

Trade Agreements and Customs Tariffs

Recently, Trump made statements about the future of trade negotiations with the European Union (EU). Trump pointed out the high customs duties and trade barriers between the US and the EU, stating that the chances of reaching an agreement with the EU were 50-50. He suggested that if the EU opens its market to American businesses, the US might reduce the customs duties on products coming from the EU. Otherwise, he threatened to impose a 30% additional customs tariff on goods imported from the EU. This could directly impact exports from EU countries. However, Donald Trump also mentioned that the negotiations are not yet completed and more developments could occur during the process.

On the other hand, Trump’s comments regarding the trade agreement with Japan are also noteworthy. The US and Japan’s trade deal includes Japan committing to invest $550 billion in America. Trump emphasized that this deal offers significant opportunities for economic growth. Japan is preparing to take important steps to make trade more balanced by making such investments in the US.

You may also be interested in: Pump.fun Raised 500 Million Dollars in 12 Minutes, But Why Isn’t It Rising?

Trade disputes with Canada have also caught Trump’s attention. He announced that the tariffs on goods from Canada will increase by 35% starting August 1, stating that this move was taken because Canada did not comply with the US’s trade demands. The Canadian government has indicated that it reserves the right to retaliate against this decision. This could lead to tensions in trade relations within North America.

Federal Reserve and Interest Rates

Donald Trump reiterated that interest rates need to be lowered in his discussions with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. Trump said that he got the impression that Powell might be ready to lower the rates and referred to him as “a very good man.” However, Powell’s term will end in May 2026, and Trump pointed out that there are legal obstacles to removing Powell from office. Powell has indicated that inflation remains above target, and reducing interest rates might be premature at this stage.

Donald Trump and the Global Economy

Donald Trump’s remarks seem poised to affect not only America’s domestic politics but also the global economic balance. The uncertainties in trade relations with the European Union, Japan, and Canada could fuel further trade wars around the world. The increase in customs tariffs could impact not only countries trading with the US but also the entire global trade chain.

Trump’s pressure on interest rate cuts creates a major question mark for global investors. These moves, aimed at accelerating the growth of the US economy, are creating a complex economic situation along with inflation rates and international trade pressures. How these developments will unfold is a subject of great anticipation in the coming period.

U.S. President Donald Trump seems poised to reignite trade wars with his latest remarks. Trump announced that pharmaceutical tariffs would soon be implemented and used harsh language toward the European Union.

He also made it clear that he is not ready to negotiate with Iran, taking a firm stance on the matter. The course of the U.S.’s trade talks with its allies is raising concerns. Trump stated that the European Union has yet to present a fair trade deal.

Warning from Trump’s Former Commerce Secretary: Overconfidence Can Be Dangerous

Trump’s former Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross warned that the White House might act with excessive confidence following its recent success in trade negotiations. In an exclusive interview with Fortune, Ross said, “The U.S. has made significant gains so far, but if they push too hard because of these victories, the other sides may not be able to meet the demands.”

According to Ross, the most fragile point is the European Union, as it is a complex structure made up of 27 countries, each with veto power. This makes it hard to find common ground with the EU.

“It’s very difficult to reach a trade deal with the European Union because they struggle to form a unified will,” Ross said.

Trump’s Threats Toward the EU Are Increasing

Trump has openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow progress in negotiations with the EU. In posts on Truth Social, he threatened to impose a 50% tariff on EU imports. This tariff has been temporarily postponed for 90 days, but it may come back if negotiations fail to advance.

Former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker also voiced strong criticism during this period. He noted that his successor, Ursula von der Leyen, failed to establish direct contact with Trump and started negotiations too late. Juncker had met with Trump seven times in 2018, successfully persuading him to suspend steel and aluminum tariffs.

In contrast, von der Leyen has only held brief talks on the sidelines of international events, which has weakened the EU’s negotiating position.

Juncker emphasized the need for a strong stance when dealing with Trump, saying, “If you stand your ground, he respects you.” Otherwise, there is a risk that European countries may grow closer to China and Russia, and the U.S. could lose its allies.

Is the EU Weak? Or Unprepared?

Juncker stated that the European Commission is unprepared and that its sanctions lists have become vulnerable to U.S. counterattacks. Under Trump’s leadership, the U.S. aims to increase its influence over Europe not only through economic pressure but also politically.

“EU officials need to appear strong, or Trump won’t respect them,” Juncker said. He also revealed that his previous strategy was built on targeting Republican states to put Trump in a difficult position domestically.

After meeting with Japanese Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato in Washington, the Treasury issued a statement praising the strong start of bilateral discussions.

During a meeting with South Korean Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun, Bessent discussed finding a new equilibrium on tariffs to encourage rather than restrict trade. The Treasury emphasized that talks focused on creating an “expanded equilibrium” to boost trade between the allies.

India Close To Securing Trade Deal With US

Meanwhile, Scott Bessent said India could be among the first countries to finalize a new trade deal with the U.S., avoiding President Trump’s suite of “reciprocal” tariffs. Speaking at the World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings, Bessent noted that India’s lower tariffs and minimal trade barriers made negotiations easier.

Global trade wars, inflationary pressures, geopolitical tensions and rising public debts are seriously shaking the foundations of the traditional financial system around the world. Such multifaceted macroeconomic stressors are questioning the sustainability of monetary policies, especially in developed economies. Trade tensions between the US and China, Europe and Russia, and even India and some regional actors are not only disrupting supply chains, but also weakening global growth expectations through the spread of tariffs and protectionist policies.

How Do Analysts React to This Situation?

Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, states that trade tariffs have not only economic but also strategic consequences. According to Dalio, these tariffs can reduce countries’ dependence on foreign production and capital, and thus prepare for great power conflicts. However, the inflationary effects of these policies should not be ignored. Dalio emphasizes that the rising debt levels of the US are unsustainable and that these imbalances must be remedied.

Cryptocurrency analyst Anthony Pompliano says that the decline in interest rates and the increase in global liquidity could positively affect the value of Bitcoin. Pompliano says that Bitcoin has an 83% correlation with global liquidity, and that cheap money entering the market could make BTC the biggest winner.

This article will also catch your attention: Circle Postpones Its IPO Due to Economic Uncertainty

From this perspective, trade wars and economic uncertainties seem to direct investors to decentralized and limited-supply assets like Bitcoin. Bitcoin is called digital gold and is positioned as a hedge against inflationary pressures and economic fluctuations.

While global economic turmoil and trade wars are shaking trust in traditional financial systems, they are accelerating the adoption of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. While investors are looking for alternative solutions to the weaknesses of the current financial order, the value storage features and independent structure offered by Bitcoin make it an attractive option.

How Did Trump’s Tariffs Affect Crypto?

Starting April 5, Donald Trump imposed a 10% tariff on all imports. Some nations faced higher rates:

European Union: 20%

Bitcoin initially surged to $88,500 but quickly dropped by 2.6% to $82,876. Ethereum lost over 6%, plunging from $1,934 to $1,797.

Will Panic Selling Continue?

Due to market uncertainty, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index plummeted to 25, signaling “extreme fear.”

BTC Markets analyst Rachael Lucas commented on the sharp price movements:

“Markets briefly felt relief, but as full tariff details emerged, a strong sell-off followed.”

Long-Term Market Impact

David Hernandez, a crypto investment expert at 21Shares, suggested that clarity on tariffs could actually be a positive factor in the long run:

Trump Proposes Eliminating IRS and Using Tariffs to Fund the Government

Donald Trump made a bold proposal: Abolishing the IRS and funding the government solely through tariffs! Trump argued that the U.S. was wealthiest in the 19th century when tariffs, not income tax, were the primary revenue source.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick backed the plan, stating:

“The government keeps demanding more taxes from citizens. Tariffs will protect American workers and strengthen the U.S. economy.”

Gold Hits $3,200 Record Amid Economic Uncertainty

As economic fears mounted, gold prices soared, reaching an all-time high of $3,200 per ounce.

Gold often serves as a safe-haven asset, especially in times of crisis. While Bitcoin dipped due to tariffs, gold continued its upward trend.

The U.S. economy is entering a critical phase due to global uncertainties, trade wars, and fluctuations in interest rate policies. The likelihood of a recession in 2025 is becoming an increasingly debated topic. Coin Bureau founder Nic Puckrin estimates the probability of a U.S. recession in 2025 at 40%, predicting that the Federal Reserve (Fed) will implement two 25-basis-point rate cuts but will not pursue monetary expansion.

The possibility of a recession not only impacts the U.S. economy but could also directly affect Bitcoin and the altcoin markets. During periods of global economic uncertainty, there is a tendency to move away from riskier assets, making the future trajectory of the crypto markets a crucial point of discussion.

Will There Be a Recession in the US in 2025?

Macroeconomic indicators suggest that the U.S. economy is beginning to slow down. Trade wars, inflationary pressures, and weakening global economic growth are among the key factors increasing the likelihood of a recession in 2025. When several of these factors converge, the probability of a U.S. recession in 2025 rises to around 40%.

Economists highlight the following factors contributing to the risk of a recession:

Trade wars: U.S. tariffs on major trade partners, particularly China, pose a threat to global economic growth.

Fed’s interest rate policies: While high interest rates in 2024 slowed economic growth, expected rate cuts in 2025 may not lead to an immediate recovery.

Weakening U.S. Dollar Index (DXY): A decline in the dollar’s value could drive investors toward alternative assets.

Cuts in public spending: The Trump administration plans to reduce federal expenditures, which could negatively impact economic growth.

How Do Trade Wars Affect Recessions?

Trade tensions between the U.S. and China pose a significant risk to crypto markets. Historically, trade wars have increased uncertainty in global markets, driving investors toward safe-haven assets.

How Do Trade Wars Affect the Crypto Market?

Negative Impacts:

Sudden fluctuations in Bitcoin prices: Sharp changes in U.S. trade policies can trigger major price movements in the market.

Weakening altcoin markets: As riskier assets, altcoins may lose value if investors adopt a risk-averse stance.

Increased demand for stablecoins: Investors may turn to stablecoins like Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) as a store of value during periods of uncertainty.

Positive Impacts:

Bitcoin’s role as digital gold could strengthen: If investors lose confidence in the U.S. dollar, Bitcoin may see increased demand as a store of value.

A weaker dollar could drive new capital into crypto markets: If the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) declines, investors might shift toward assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Nansen research analyst Nicolai Sondergaard predicts that market pressure from trade wars will persist until at least April 2025. However, if tariffs are lifted or the Trump administration softens its policies, markets could regain momentum.

The cryptocurrency market has experienced sharp fluctuations in recent days, and American-based cryptocurrencies have also been affected. XRP surprised investors by plunging from $2.70 to $1.70! However, as the market attempted to recover, XRP quickly climbed back to $2.35.

What caused this sharp decline? U.S. President Donald Trump’s additional tariffs on Mexico and Canada created significant market uncertainty. The impact of trade wars on the crypto market led investors to panic sell, and XRP’s price movement was a clear reflection of this development.

XRP’s Technical Levels: Critical Points!

The recent crash and recovery have made key levels in the XRP chart more evident:

Support Level: $2.25

Resistance Level: $2.72

According to the chart analysis, it is crucial for XRP to hold the $2.25 level. If it drops below this level, a further decline to $1.70 may occur. However, if XRP surpasses the $2.72 resistance level, a strong recovery could begin!

Other Coins in the “Made in USA” Category Also Took a Big Hit!

Not just XRP—other major projects in CoinMarketCap’s “Made in USA” category also suffered heavy losses!

Solana (SOL): Lost 6.90% in the last 24 hours, dropping to $198.37.

Dogecoin (DOGE): Fell 13.89%, down to $0.2568.

Cardano (ADA): Declined 18.09%, reaching $0.7191.

Avalanche (AVAX): Plummeted 17.01%, settling at $25.72.

Most of these cryptocurrencies experienced major losses between 15% and 23% over the past week. This indicates that American-based projects have been subjected to panic selling by investors, reflecting growing concerns in the overall market.

Can XRP Return to Its Previous Levels?

The recent developments have divided cryptocurrency investors. Bears aim to push prices lower under the pressure of trade wars, while bulls believe that maintaining technical support levels could initiate another upward movement. XRP’s ability to hold $2.35 will be the most critical factor in determining its direction in the coming days!

XRP and American-based cryptocurrencies have experienced a severe shake-up, but the recovery process has begun rapidly. Future price movements will shape investors’ strategies! Stay tuned for updates!

Over the past 24 hours, the crypto market has experienced significant volatility. U.S. President Donald Trump’s additional tariffs on Mexico and Canada reignited trade wars, leading to a massive sell-off. Investors are debating whether the bear market is back, as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) drop to critical levels.

Bitcoin (BTC): Sharp Drop from 106,000$ to 91,000$!

Bitcoin had recently been in a strong uptrend. However, due to trade war fears, it suffered a nearly 15% drop from 106,000$ to 91,000$! Technical analysis indicates key levels following this decline:

Support Level: 91,221$

Resistance Level: 98,504$

The BTC/USDT chart suggests that investors are trying to hold the 90,000$ level, but selling pressure remains strong. If 91,221$ breaks, Bitcoin could decline further to 89,472$. However, if 98,504$ is surpassed, a recovery is possible.

Ethereum (ETH): Drop from 3,200$ to 2,100$!

Ethereum followed Bitcoin, experiencing a sharp 37.5% drop from 3,200$ to 2,100$! This steep decline has worried investors, with chart analysis revealing crucial levels:

Support Level: 2,455$

Resistance Level: 3,026$

The ETH/BTC chart shows that Ethereum failed to break resistance levels, leading to deeper retracement. If 2,455$ does not hold, ETH could drop further to 2,000$. However, for a rebound, it must surpass 3,026$.

Bears Take Control of the Market!

According to recent chart analysis, bears have gained dominance, causing heavy losses for investors. The primary factor behind this downturn is the U.S. trade war escalation and additional tariffs, increasing market pressure. However, BTC and ETH holding their support levels raises the possibility of a potential recovery.

Ultimately, the crypto market is at a crucial turning point! Chart movements in the coming days will determine its direction. Investors should remain cautious and closely monitor market data.
