Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is preparing to take another step toward becoming a fully integrated financial ecosystem. According to Head of Product Nikita Bier, a series of new features will roll out in the coming weeks, including a system called “Smart Cashtags.” This functionality is expected to allow users to trade stocks and cryptocurrencies directly from their timeline.

The move signals a deeper push into financial services, positioning X beyond content sharing and closer to a multi-functional digital platform where communication and capital markets intersect.

Drawing a Line Against Spam-Driven Crypto Models

In his statement, Bier made it clear that the company supports crypto innovation on the platform. However, he emphasized that applications built around incentives for spam, coordinated raids, or harassment of random users are not aligned with X’s vision.

He argued that such models degrade the user experience for millions while disproportionately benefiting a small group. The platform’s approach appears to favor structured, user-centric financial integration rather than engagement tactics that compromise community standards.

This stance suggests X intends to foster sustainable crypto adoption within a framework that prioritizes usability and platform integrity.

What Are X Smart Cashtags?

Smart Cashtags are designed to turn asset symbols embedded in posts into interactive financial gateways. When users encounter a stock ticker or crypto symbol in their feed, they will be able to execute transactions directly from that interface.

If implemented as described, this feature would significantly reduce friction between discovery and execution. Instead of switching apps or visiting external trading platforms, users could potentially complete trades within the same environment where they consume financial commentary and market updates.

Such integration brings social interaction and real-time market participation into a single digital layer, potentially reshaping how retail investors engage with financial assets.

From Social Network to Financial Hub

X’s latest initiative reflects a broader ambition: transforming the platform into a comprehensive digital ecosystem. By embedding trading capabilities into the core user experience, X moves closer to the “super app” model that blends communication, payments, and investment tools.

Whether this strategy will meaningfully alter user behavior or market participation remains to be seen. However, the integration of trading directly into a social timeline marks a significant evolution in how financial services can be delivered in the digital age.

You can also freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section.

Decentralized Social (DESO) is a layer-1 blockchain specifically designed to support social media and DeFi applications. DeSo carries a vision of a creator-focused, user-owned open internet where millions of developers can build on top of each other. The DESO token serves as the network’s native currency to cover transaction fees and is used for staking in the Revolution Proof of Stake consensus.

What is Decentralized Social (DESO)?

The DeSo blockchain was built from scratch to power storage-intensive applications. Posting a 200-character “Tweet” on Ethereum costs over $100, on Solana over $2; but on DeSo, this cost is one ten-thousandth of a cent. The same advantage applies to financial content; for example, storing a limit order. This storage superiority gives DeSo the ability to combine social content with crypto for the first time and develops DeFi primitives.

Centralization of Social Media

Today, social media is more centralized than the pre-Bitcoin financial sector. A handful of private companies control public discourse and reap monopoly profits from the content created. Content creators, due to the old ad-focused model, receive low pay, low engagement, and are deprived of monetization.

The ad model forces platforms to keep content in walled gardens; external developers are prevented from innovating or building apps. Users and creators are forced to use apps controlled by these companies. The problem stems from user data and content being privately owned by a handful of companies; it is not a public utility open to access.

Only these companies can build competitive feeds, develop new features, and monetize content – even though the content is not theirs. The cycle works like this: Users use these apps due to content monopoly, creators provide content for reach, companies grow stronger against creators and society.

These companies monopolize the private content pool with global network effects. Combining content in a single pool is valuable for curation, but a central gatekeeper manages the pool. The solution is to shift network effects to a public content pool that no entity controls.

What Does DESO Aim For?

All problems can be solved by decentralizing social media just as Bitcoin and Ethereum decentralized finance. Bitcoin disrupted finance by storing transactions in a non-monopolizable public ledger; this technology can be scaled for the first time to operate social networks.

Bitcoin and Ethereum showed that dominant platforms can be built around open code and data. This open model is disrupting financial institutions; now it can disrupt social media giants and ad models.

If we put social media content on a public blockchain, we can rival and surpass the economies of scale created by traditional giants. We solve the collective action problem among independent publishers; individual rational contributions create a global shared pool, intermediaries cannot be removed, and no single company controls it.

Ultimate Vision

A post uploaded to Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter belongs to those companies; not the creator. Monetization mostly goes to the companies. DeSo stores all data on a public blockchain; anyone can run a node exposing their own curated feed.

Future “Curator” Economy

Vertical players can curate their own feeds. For example, ESPN runs a node for sports content, Politico for political content. Since DeSo is open source, the user interface is customizable, algorithms adapt to the target audience.

This enables a transition from a world where a few giants control dominant feeds to thousands of focused feeds. Storing data on a public blockchain makes it possible for an engineer to build a competitive social media experience with existing incumbents; it lowers entry barriers.

Existing publishers can easily spin up social apps as adjacency to their core business; upstarts innovate on equal footing with megacorps. Today, a competitive social app requires a billion-user data moat.

How Do Nodes Work?

Anyone running a node contributes data to the global profile, post, follow pool. A post or like on the ESPN node can surface in the Politico feed. A post from China appears on an American node.

With each node, more content is added to the global pool, every node on the network becomes stronger and more engaging. DeSo solves the collective action problem among independent publishers: Instead of contributing to a private pool not aligned with megacorp interests, they contribute to a public pool no one controls, cannot be disintermediated.

Data transforms from heavily guarded private source to globally accessible utility. Publishers have strong incentives to contribute data to the blockchain; top creators do not want to publish on closed platforms, because by publishing posts to the blockchain, they instantly reach every node/feed on the internet.

Creators gain unprecedented reach and direct relationships with followers. Reach is one side; monetization is the other.

Future “Creator” Economy

Social tokens, social NFTs, and social tipping are categories pioneered by DeSo that change creator monetization; but it’s just the beginning. Since DeSo is money-native and open source, anyone can build apps on DeSo to experiment with new monetization paths.

For example, a major creator wants to offer monthly subscriptions for premium content. One person building the feature on the internet is enough; the entire DeSo app ecosystem instantly accesses it. Like paying for reposts or message replies in the same inbox.

The best machine learning researchers for spam or harmful content detection build solutions on the full data firehose without permission.

Future of Open Standards

The DeSo blockchain is an open protocol the world can collaboratively build; it unlocks creator potential, brings competition and innovation to social media. Since it’s money-native, new signals emerge for effective content ranking. Bitclout.com’s first experiment was ranking comments by the commenter’s social token price.

This simple mechanism produces competitive results with centralized platforms. Ranking messages by coin price reduces influencer spam; unique to DeSo apps. When the world builds on DeSo, what can be done with the “$DESO Signal” is just the beginning.

DeSo was designed from scratch to keep system incentives decentralized in the long term. Creators have strong incentives to post content directly to the blockchain. Developers cannot lose data or API access; when they run a node, all data is already in their hands.

Traditional social media companies start open for network effects, close access once they gain a data moat. DeSo becomes an enduring positive force for humanity; it brings competition and innovation to the internet. The internet started decentralized; now it’s concentrated and innovation is hard. The pendulum will permanently swing back to decentralization; we can all be part of it.

Next-generation applications the world can collaboratively build unlock the full potential of human ingenuity.

DESO Tokenomics

Total Supply: 10.8 M (excluding stake rewards)

Burn: 100% of transaction fees burned, DESO becomes scarcer as transactions increase

Stake: Secures nodes with Revolution PoS, 20% APY (variable)

Inflation: Short-term, decreases over time, deflationary

Initial Distribution

77%: Bonding Curve (2021, $0.50 → $180, 5k BTC)

20%: Core Team

3%: Proof of Work mining

DESO Sinks

Openfund & Focus: their tokens purchased only with DESO

No Equity

No equity ever sold

No locked tokens

Team = bought at same price as everyone

BMF: Burn-Maximizing Fee Mechanism

Unlike other blockchains, fees are maximally burned; network value accrues to DESO, transaction ordering and validator incentives are not disrupted.

High level: Validators paid fee log, remainder burned. 2x fee linearly increases validator reward. High fee incentivizes block placement, validators do not take lion’s share. Validators operate with commission on delegated stake.

Full system in open source code. Ethereum MEV not optimized; Solana 50% blind burn. DeSo fee burning and validator reward designed from ground up; minimize long-term operating cost, max fee burn.

DeSo Governance

Changes occur with Revolution Proof of Stake upgrades. Anyone submits upgrades to open source code; 2/3 stake-weighted validators upgrade before block height for it to pass. Like Ethereum; major economic player oversight.

Impossible without upgrade; 100% open source, no one owns more than 20% DESO.

Decentralized Social Investors

Total $200 million raised. DeSo is building the future of social media with support from the world’s most prestigious crypto funds.

Level: Coinbase Ventures, a16z crypto, Polychain, Pantera, Sequoia Level: Arrington Capital, Hack VC, Distributed Global, Blockchain.com Level: Blockchange Ventures, Winklevoss Capital, Social Capital Level: TQ Ventures

Decentralized Social Team

Founded by Nader Al-Naji in 2019, DeSo was bootstrapped entirely with own resources. The core team grows the project with open source and decentralized vision.

Nader Al-Naji – Founder & Visionary

Ed Moss – Head of Growth

Piotr Nojszewski – Head of Research

In the world of cryptocurrency, meme coins are often associated with entertainment and speculation, but Would (WOULD) stands out as a project that challenges this perception. Built on the Solana blockchain, this token emphasizes a long-term value investment philosophy. So, what exactly is Would (WOULD), how does it work, and why is it generating so much interest? Let’s dive into the details!

What is Would (WOULD)?

Would (WOULD) is a meme coin project launched on July 24, 2024, on the Solana (SOL) blockchain. However, it aims to be much more than a typical meme coin. Built with decentralized Web3 technology, $WOULD captured widespread attention on November 24, 2024, when Elon Musk declared, “I love this meme,” triggering a 2600-fold price surge. After this spike, it established a solid foundation and underwent a rebirth, outpacing 99% of meme coins and successfully completing its initial phase (0-1 phase). $WOULD is dubbed the “Crypto Berkshire Hathaway,” where every token holder is considered a shareholder, and the project offers a fully controllable cryptocurrency as an alternative to centralized stocks, real estate, or fiat currencies.

The core philosophy of the project is to reject the typical “player vs. player” (PVP) approach of meme coins and embrace a “player vs. environment” (PVE) model. Fully decentralized, non-inflationary, free of marketing, and devoid of fake data, $WOULD unites a community of investors who share a commitment to long-term value investment. The project promises to be everyone’s “personal piggy bank.”

Key Features of Would (WOULD)

$WOULD is not just a meme coin but also designed as a value investment vehicle. Here are the platform’s core features:

1. Long-Term Value Investment

$WOULD is based on community consensus rather than technology or speculation. It positions itself as a “crypto piggy bank” for investors embracing a long-term holding (HODL) philosophy.

2. Decentralized and Non-Inflationary

The project operates in a fully decentralized structure and avoids mechanisms that cause inflation. Liquidity pool (LP) tokens have been burned, and contract ownership has been renounced, enhancing its reliability.

3. Tax-Free and Transparent

$WOULD offers a simple structure with no transaction taxes or complex mechanisms. It operates with the motto “No taxes, no bullshit.”

4. Community-Driven

Though born from meme culture, $WOULD is shaped around the shared values of its community. Critical thinking, self-awareness, and a long-term vision form the project’s foundation.

5. Elon Musk’s Endorsement

On November 24, 2024, Elon Musk’s declaration of would as his “favorite meme” boosted the project’s popularity and sparked a significant price surge.

How Would (WOULD) Works

$WOULD is built on community consensus and long-term value investment. Its operations can be summarized as follows:

Token Acquisition: Users can purchase $WOULD tokens from exchanges or liquidity pools on the Solana blockchain.

HODL and Community Engagement: Token holders adopt the project’s PVE approach, participating in a long-term holding strategy and supporting the project through community activities.

Value Growth: The project avoids speculation, aiming for organic growth driven by community trust. Events like Elon Musk’s endorsement can accelerate this growth.

Decentralized Governance: With contract ownership renounced and LP tokens burned, the project is entirely driven by the community.

Benefits of Would (WOULD) to Stakeholders

Investors: $WOULD offers an opportunity for those seeking long-term value investment. The community’s continuous buybacks support the token’s value.

Community Members: Provides an opportunity to join a community that shares values like critical thinking and self-awareness.

Collectors: With a vision to become the most collectible virtual currency, $WOULD stands out as a digital store of value.

Would (WOULD) Tokenomics

$WOULD features a simple and transparent tokenomics structure:

Total Supply: 999,453,582 $WOULD

Distribution:

No taxes, no complex mechanisms.

Liquidity pool (LP) tokens have been burned, and contract ownership has been renounced.

Phases:

Phase 1 – Meme: The project’s origin in meme culture.

Phase 2 – Vibe and HODL: The community’s phase of long-term holding and shared value creation.

Phase 3 – WOULD Cult: $WOULD’s transformation into a cultural phenomenon.

Would Roadmap

$WOULD is built on a roadmap with three key phases:

July 2024: Launch on the Solana blockchain.

November 2024: A 2600-fold price surge driven by Elon Musk’s endorsement and the establishment of a solid base.

Future: Organic growth based on community consensus and realization of the “Crypto Berkshire Hathaway” vision.

Would Investors and Backers

$WOULD has attracted a group of dedicated value investors who continuously repurchase the token, demonstrating their belief in its long-term potential. Elon Musk’s statement, “I love this meme,” significantly increased the project’s visibility, drawing attention from a broad community.

Would Team

As a fully decentralized project, $WOULD is not managed by a specific team. Instead, it is driven by the community’s shared values and consensus. The renunciation of contract ownership reinforces its community-centric structure.

As with every move Musk makes, this change has created a huge buzz on social media. Some believe it’s just another joke, while others are searching for a deeper meaning behind it. After acquiring Twitter (now X) and making radical changes, Musk has often made headlines with his unusual profile name changes.

It has been reported that CoinMarketCap’s X account was hacked, and a suspicious token address was shared from the compromised account.

CoinMarketCap, one of the largest data providers in the cryptocurrency market, has become an important source for investors in the sector. Around 3:08 PM today, CoinMarketCap’s X account was hacked, and a suspicious token address was shared from the compromised account. This situation serves as a serious security warning for cryptocurrency investors and users.

Hacked Twitter Account and Shared Token Address

CoinMarketCap’s official X account, known for sharing up-to-date price information, analysis, and other essential data related to cryptocurrencies, was used to share a questionable token address. However, as there was no verification of the authenticity and security of this token address, many users were potentially exposed to a scam.

Related tweet:

Security Risk in the Crypto World

Security is a significant concern in the cryptocurrency sector, especially when it comes to posts made through social media platforms. Hackers can take over trusted and popular accounts to spread false information about fake tokens and projects in an attempt to scam investors. Such attacks can lead to serious financial losses, especially for novice investors.

The $99 JamboPhone boasts better performance than competitors in its price range, thanks to higher RAM and improved specs. This tackles a key pain point for low-income consumers who often struggle with sluggish devices.

Users can earn crypto through pre-installed partner apps, including both web2 giants like TikTok and web3 players like Aptos, Matr1x, and Sleepagotchi. This not only incentivizes crypto usage but also allows users to effectively “pay off” their phone over time.

Crypto adoption is surging in emerging markets due to factors like hyperinflation, large unbanked populations, and currency restrictions. Jambo capitalizes on this trend by targeting users already open to blockchain technology and offering them a gateway into the web3 world.

By selling hardware at near zero margin and focusing on software revenue, Jambo undercuts traditional phone players while providing better specs. This creates a win-win for both the company and users.

This strategy fuels a continuous cycle. Consumers buy the upgraded JamboPhone, earn crypto to pay it off, attract more partners offering earning opportunities, leading to more phone sales and lower production costs. Jambo has already shipped to 40 countries and has manufacturing agreements with leading players, ensuring scalability.

JamboPhone unlocks several web3 opportunities:

DePIN: The phone’s capabilities can address the hardware bottleneck for DePIN and validators, enabling more people to participate in decentralized network infrastructure.

Gaming: Pre-installed web3 games like Sleepagotchi and Matr1x showcase the potential for Jambo to partner with other gaming projects seeking wider distribution.

99 Capital, an investor focused on web3 in emerging markets, supports Jambo and sees it as a key player in bringing crypto to underserved regions. They are collaborating with Jambo to assist their portfolio companies in pre-installs and partnerships.

Coinbase Ends Bitcoin Support! In a recent announcement, leading cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced that it will remove support for native Bitcoin and other UTXO (Unspent Transaction Output) coins from its payment platform for vendors, Coinbase Commerce. As stated by the company’s product head Lauren Dowling, this decision is linked to the difficulties in providing the latest updates in the BTC (Bitcoin) EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) payment protocol.

In a string on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Dowling explained, “The new Commerce product implements the details of each payment on-chain, supports hundreds of assets (native ones and ERC-20s), [and] automatically converts payments to USDC for merchants. It was challenging to offer the same capabilities on the Bitcoin blockchain without smart contracts and stablecoins, and hence we had to remove native Bitcoin and other UTXO support.”

This decision means that sellers using Coinbase Commerce will no longer be able to directly accept payments with Bitcoin and certain other UTXO coins. However, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong highlighted that buyers can still use Bitcoin for payments if they have an account with the exchange. Armstrong also expressed hope for future trade payments using the integration of the Lightning Network.

The Lightning Network, a second-layer protocol built on the Bitcoin blockchain, aims to increase scalability and provide faster and cheaper transactions. Armstrong stressed the importance of these kind of solutions for mainstream adoption, saying, “Overall, we do not think online shopping with cryptocurrencies will really go mainstream, we need to move away from layer 1 and lower transaction fees and confirmation times, so we are trying to accelerate the move towards this world.”

The UTXO model used by Bitcoin and its forks plays a significant role in the functionality of cryptocurrency, providing transparency and security in the transaction processing. This model is different from Ethereum ‘s account-based model, which offers more flexibility but can cause scalability challenges.

Despite the decision by Coinbase to remove native Bitcoin support, this decision has faced criticism within the community, especially in relation to its potential impact on Bitcoin adoption. Some users argue that relying solely on Coinbase accounts for Bitcoin transactions could limit accessibility and impede broader acceptance.

A user using a pseudonym compared the requirement to have a Coinbase account to the idea that all customers must bank with a specific institution to facilitate payments. This criticism highlights the importance of promoting an inclusive ecosystem that encompasses various preferences and modes of access.

As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to evolve, decisions like Coinbase’s removal of native Bitcoin support spark discussions on balance between innovation, usability, and decentralization. Despite ongoing challenges, ongoing efforts to increase scalability and accessibility are crucial for advancing the adoption of cryptocurrencies for daily transactions.

The VeChain X account was hacked earlier today, and the attackers posted a fake tweet claiming that 500 million VET had been distributed on January 10, 2024 at 15:30 UTC.

The scammers used a well-known method, “We will send you twice as many tokens as you send us,” in the fake tweet. The tweet directed users to an address starting with “0x79D80” and completely controlled by the scammers, with wishful expressions about how many VET they would receive in return for how many VET they sent.

The sharing made through this popular X(Twitter) account took place on a platform with over half a million followers. At the same time, hackers who recently hacked the X account of the DeFi protocol RocketPool (RPL) claimed that the network was under attack and called on users to transfer their cryptocurrencies to the specified address.

Investors should be careful and avoid interacting with the cryptocurrency address shared by hackers in any way. It is important to be careful and aware of such fraudulent attempts for the security of crypto assets.
