MetaMask Rewards: Big Opportunities for Users 

As Ethereum’s most widely used wallet, MetaMask is rolling out a rewards program for its active users. The first season will distribute $30 million worth of tokens, with LINEA tokens at the center. Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin confirmed that rewards will be allocated based on on-chain activity, with long-term users receiving the largest share. 

Lubin addressed social media speculation, clarifying that earlier prototype concepts were not live but emphasizing that the vision is real. The program represents a concrete step toward incentivizing MetaMask’s global user base and deepening the role of tokenized projects in the Consensys ecosystem. 

LINEA Token and User Benefits 

LINEA is the native token of Consensys’ Ethereum Layer-2 network. The MetaMask Rewards program will distribute LINEA tokens to encourage user participation and on-chain activity. Users can earn additional rewards through staking opportunities. 

• Rewards can be earned via: 
• Inviting new users to MetaMask 
• On-chain activities and transaction history 
• Partner projects and ecosystem collaborations 

Long-term users with significant wallet history and on-chain activity will receive the lion’s share of Season 1 rewards. Lubin also confirmed that future incentives will be available with the upcoming MetaMask token (MASK) launch. 

A New Era for Web3 Wallets 

The MetaMask rewards program transforms Web3 wallets from simple storage tools into active gateways for DeFi, staking, and tokenized economies. With over 30 million monthly active users, MetaMask will play a central role in the Ethereum ecosystem. This includes rewards and potential token distribution. 

Lubin highlighted that Consensys is building token-powered economies, starting with LINEA, expanding through MetaMask, and eventually through DIN. Positive-sum relationships between users and developers will continue to grow, with new features rolling out rapidly in October, November, December, and throughout 2026. 

MetaMask Rewards, through LINEA token distribution, integrates users into the broader crypto ecosystem, encouraging more active participation. LINEA and MASK tokens provide a new dimension to user experience, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of Web3 wallets.
