In this article, we will explore what the zkLink project is, what its purpose is, and obtain information about its 2024 roadmap.

What is zkLink?

zkLink is developing zero-knowledge blockchain solutions for the Ethereum ecosystem. Its flagship zero-knowledge aggregator platform, Nexus, provides security and scalability through zk-Proofs while designed to bridge the gap between different zk-Rollup Layer-2 ecosystems to reduce liquidity fragmentation. It also inherits Ethereum’s security features, enhancing performance without compromising on security and reducing the cost of dApp trading.

What is zkLink Nexus?

zkLink Nexus is a Layer 3 solution for native crypto assets coming from different zkRollups in the Ethereum Layer-2 ecosystem, such as zkSync, StarkNet, Scroll, Linea, Taiko, or Polygon zkEVM. Now, developers looking to deploy their projects on Layer 2s no longer need to worry about fragmented liquidity, chain-specific deployments, security risks, or the high costs associated with transferring assets between ecosystems.

zkLink 2024 Roadmap

2024 First Quarter: Fundamental Proposal

In the first quarter of 2024, the project team is accelerating to realize the full potential of ZK for developers who want to make dApp development much more customizable by implementing TS-zkVM circuit extensions and Modular DA (Data Availability) and working on fundamental SDK features. The detailed inclusion of these two features aims to rapidly solve issues related to multi-chain compatibility and enhance the overall performance of dApps.

Alongside TS-zkVM, the ZK Oracle processing pipeline will also be incorporated. The ZK Oracle solution, based on zero-knowledge proof technology, seeks to reduce verification costs in high-frequency price reference scenarios, providing a more efficient and secure oracle solution for dApps and derivative exchanges built on the zkLink ecosystem.

Furthermore, the inclusion of convenience-based features like ZK social login and account abstraction will attract a new wave of developers to our ecosystem, giving us a competitive advantage in gaining a larger share from the base-level talented developer market.

2024 Second Quarter: Expand Features

The team expects the second quarter to be twice as intense as the first quarter. In particular, the focus will be on expanding areas for protocol growth and revenue-generating opportunities, playing a central role in development.

In addition, while continuing to compete with new emerging Layer 1s that stand out with innovative approaches such as parallel EVMs and striving to achieve compatibility with other L2 mainnets, a hybrid mode of AMM and Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) support will be introduced. The hybrid mode will open significant “control freedoms” for developers to start experimenting with creating their commercially viable dApps, addressing various DeFi use cases and demands. Naturally having an AMM will overlap with new support for Proof Auction markets, NFTs, and new trading APIs.

2024 Third Quarter: Increase Connectivity

In the third quarter, as the development of core products progresses in the final stages, the development direction will shift from “diving deep to playing wide.” Importantly, cross-collation interoperability functions that seamlessly aggregate local assets and liquidity between L1s and Ethereum L2s will be enabled. During this period, the team will also start developing a new recursively provable proof verification system that has already proven to be effective in providing not only increased security but also a faster and more cost-effective solution (during internal testing).

2024 Fourth Quarter: Ruthlessly Optimize

Approaching the end of the year, significant growth in the protocol is expected in the fourth quarter. As a result, the technical team will intensify efforts to further develop the infrastructure of zkLink through the integration of hardware acceleration solutions and decentralized sequencing services.

Creating the Community

The team is entirely committed to achieving its goals in a timely manner. Blockchain and crypto are incredibly fast and competitive industries where timely implementation and strategic planning are crucial.

zkLink appreciates all the feedback provided by the community in helping design a decentralized future together. As a token of appreciation, the project will reward community members participating in the zkLink Pioneer Program, an ambassador program where registrations are still open.
