The lawsuit wants to recoup the $5 million Vaca alleges she lost using an app called Yobit Pro, which seemed to be a crypto wallet but was really managed by cyber criminals.<\/p>\n<p>Vaca said she put <strong>$4.6 million<\/strong> into Y<strong>obit Pro<\/strong> between February and July of last year. The app insisted on an extra $500,000 for &#8220;taxes&#8221; when she tried to take out her money\u2014which had apparently increased to $7 million. Yobit Pro stated she needed to pay another $2 million for &#8220;verification,&#8221; which she declined, after forwarding the additional money. Vaca said she got threatening communications from unknown cyber thieves demanding further money after her denial.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawsuit, Vaca told the <strong>Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB<\/strong>) about her experience; Google received the complaint that same day. Google took action, however, roughly three months later, during which at least five others apparently had similar experiences with the app.<\/p>\n<p>In a connected action, <strong>Google<\/strong> sued two people in April alleging they distributed and promoted dangerous and false crypto applications.<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section.
