CNBC story. Observing that the cost of training AI models has been drastically lowered recently, Lee, the founder of startup 01.<strong>AI<\/strong> and venture capital company Sinovation Ventures, said <strong>AI apps in China<\/strong> might soon exceed their rivals in the US.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Apps, I would predict, by early next year will proliferate in China much faster than in the US,&#8221;<\/em> Lee stated, but he clarified that it&#8217;s still unknown whether small or major companies will create these apps.<\/p>\n<p>He said it may take five to eight years to develop consumer-ready generative <strong>AI<\/strong> <strong>capabilities<\/strong> to the level of a &#8220;super app,&#8221; one single application that handles a broad spectrum of jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Lee thought that completely new gadgets would be needed for artificial intelligence since present cellphones would not be sufficient to meet the demands of this field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><em>The right tool should be always on, always listening.<\/em><strong>&#8220;<\/strong> Lee&#8217;s remarks on permanently watchful artificial intelligence devices follow the July introduction of the &#8220;Friend&#8221; necklace, a wearable powered by artificial intelligence sold as a virtual companion with continual listening capability.<\/p>\n<p>Like the US, prominent tech companies in China have shown a lot of interest in artificial intelligence. Principal pillar Chinese companies Alibaba and Tencent have funded smaller <strong>AI startups<\/strong> billions of dollars in addition to releasing various versions of their own in-house <strong>AI models and tools.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tencent&#8217;s own LLM, &#8220;Hunyuan,&#8221; debuted in September last year as the response from the Chinese internet behemoth to OpenAI&#8217;s chatbot ChatGPT.
