One of the world’s largest tech giants, Microsoft, has recently stirred excitement among crypto investors with news of a potential Bitcoin investment. According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission<\/strong> (SEC), the possibility of Bitcoin<\/strong> <\/a>investment will be discussed at Microsoft’s upcoming shareholder meeting on December 10, 2024.<\/p>\n

This proposal, introduced by conservative think tank The National Center for Public Policy Research, is opposed by Microsoft’s board of directors, who have recommended a “no” vote at the shareholder meeting.<\/p>\n

The board argues that cryptocurrency investment is currently unnecessary. Microsoft\u2019s Treasury and Investment Services Team stated that they continually evaluate various investment options for diversification and inflation protection.<\/p>\n

While Microsoft has previously assessed Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, it will continue to monitor developments in this space to reassess its position. The company maintains that cryptocurrency’s high volatility is a factor to consider in investment decisions.<\/p>\n

If the proposal is accepted by shareholders, Microsoft would become the largest publicly traded company to invest in cryptocurrency, potentially surpassing major crypto investors like Tesla and MicroStrategy.<\/p>\n
