A Layer 2<\/strong> network utilizing zkEVM<\/strong> technology within the Ethereum ecosystem is planning to launch the LINEA<\/strong> token in the first quarter of 2025. Consensys<\/strong>-incubated, the project is taking a significant step towards decentralization by announcing the formation of the Linea Association<\/strong>, an independent, non-profit organization based in Switzerland that will oversee the governance of the network.<\/p>\n

The goal of the Linea Association<\/strong> is not only to shape the future of the network but also to advance the development of the zkEVM<\/strong> mainnet and facilitate its decentralization<\/strong>. The development process will be supported by mechanisms such as governance<\/strong>, decentralized sequencing<\/strong>, and proving<\/strong>. Additionally, Consensys<\/strong>\u2019s popular MetaMask<\/strong> wallet will support the distribution of decentralized applications (dApps).<\/p>\n

Founder and Linea Association<\/strong> board member Nicolas Liochon<\/strong> emphasized that decentralization<\/strong> is at the core of the project\u2019s vision: \u201cThis network must be a public good, owned and governed openly by all, just like Ethereum. This means the future of the project will be in the hands of our community, empowering users and developers to shape its roadmap together.\u201d<\/p>\n
