Ripple<\/strong> <\/a>CEO stated that RLUSD<\/strong> will “soon be active on exchanges” following the approval from the New York Department of Financial Services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ripple Labs<\/strong> CEO Brad Garlinghouse<\/strong> announced that the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS)<\/strong> has approved the company’s RLUSD<\/strong> stablecoin after months of evaluation.<\/p>\n

In a post on X on December 10, Garlinghouse stated that following the NYDFS<\/strong> approval, Ripple will soon announce exchange and partner listings for RLUSD<\/strong>. The company had launched plans for this stablecoin in April, positioning it as a competitor to Tether’s USDT<\/strong> and Circle’s USD Coin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ripple<\/strong> executives have predicted that the stablecoin could reach a market value of $2 trillion by 2028.<\/p>\n

The company began testing RLUSD<\/strong> in August on the XRP<\/strong> ledger and Ethereum mainnet, and in October, it announced partnerships with exchanges such as Uphold<\/strong>, Bitstamp<\/strong>, Bitso<\/strong>, MoonPay<\/strong>, Independent Reserve<\/strong>, CoinMENA<\/strong>, and Bullish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In September, Garlinghouse mentioned that Ripple planned to focus RLUSD<\/strong> on institutional players. As of December 10, the combined market value of USDT<\/strong> and USDC<\/strong> was recorded at approximately $180 billion.<\/p>\n

How will Ripple manage both XRP and RLUSD?<\/h2>\n

Like other USD<\/strong> stablecoins, RLUSD<\/strong> will be pegged 1:1 to the US Dollar.<\/p>\n

In April, Ripple announced plans to back the tokens with USD deposits, short-term US Treasury bonds, and “other cash-like assets.”<\/p>\n

In June, Ripple President Monica Long<\/strong> stated that RLUSD<\/strong> would be “complementary and additive” to XRP.<\/p>\n

Garlinghouse<\/strong> appeared in a 60 Minutes segment aired on December 8, discussing the cryptocurrency industry’s influence on the 2024 United States elections.<\/p>\n

Ripple<\/strong> is also engaged in an ongoing legal battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding<\/strong> XRP<\/strong> token offerings.<\/p>\n
