FirstMate<\/strong> Secures $3.75 Million<\/strong> Investment Led by DragonFly<\/strong>: The initiative FirstMate<\/strong>, which aims to equip NFT<\/strong> creators with digital storefronts, recently conducted another investment round led by Dragonfly Capital,<\/strong> which raised $650 million<\/strong> in the third round of investment last year. In the round announced today, they successfully raised $3.75 million<\/strong>, with participation from Coinbase Ventures<\/strong> and NextView<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

FirstMate: NFT Partnership and Marketplace Beta Launch<\/h1>\n

FirstMate<\/strong> also revealed a partnership<\/strong> with another venture in the NFT<\/strong> space, Manifold. Additionally, they announced the beta launch<\/strong> of their marketplace<\/strong> website.<\/p>\n

Jacob Frantz<\/strong>, the CEO<\/strong> of the initiative, stated in a release, “Today, creators, artists, and platforms owe it to everyone who has failed to create, sustain, or grow one-dimensional markets that fail to provide the direct connection that creators and collectors have told us they want and deserve. They want it, and they don’t just carry their interests in their hearts.”<\/p>\n

According to the description, FirstMate<\/strong>‘s focus is on creators rather than markets, a priority also shared by Dragonfly. This allows artists to bring their works and pieces together on a single platform, regardless of where they were created. It also places a priority on copyright<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2022<\/strong> by former employees of Instagram<\/strong> and Walmart<\/strong>, FirstMate<\/strong>, alongside Dragonfly<\/strong>, has so far opened marketplaces for companies like Bankless<\/strong>, FELT Zine<\/strong>, Sound.xyz<\/strong>, and others. These marketplaces currently support over a thousand collections spanning everything from productive art to luxury<\/strong> fashion.<\/p>\n

Yuga Labs<\/strong> had planned to sever ties with OpenSea<\/strong> in light of the NFT<\/strong> platform’s move towards a licensed optional model.<\/p>\n

However, OpenSea<\/strong> investor Mark Cuban<\/strong> expressed concerns that stricter copyright<\/strong> regulations would be even worse and detrimental to the industry.<\/p>\n
