Under this agreement, the government agreed to withdraw from some Bitcoin projects. <strong>It made it optional for the private sector to accept BTC<\/strong> and <strong>reduced<\/strong> the government&#8217;s <strong>control over the Chivo wallet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>the day after the IMF deal, the government purchased $1 million worth of BTC<\/strong>. <strong>Stacy Herbert, Director of<\/strong> El Salvador&#8217;s <strong>Bitcoin Office,<\/strong> emphasized <strong>that there is no change in<\/strong> the country&#8217;s <strong>Bitcoin strategy<\/strong>, while <strong>Bitcoin purchases will accelerate further in 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bitcoin_Reserve_Policy_Continues\"><\/span><strong>Bitcoin Reserve Policy Continues<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>El Salvador is <strong>the first country<\/strong> in the world <strong>to create a strategic Bitcoin reserve<\/strong>. <strong>Under the leadership of<\/strong> President <strong>Nayib Bukele, the country continues to accumulate BTC as an official reserve asset<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Bitcoin price <strong>has fallen as low as $96,000, it has climbed back above $98,000<\/strong>.
