The Bank reiterated that other residents are not allowed to make payments using cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1169\">The ban on using <strong>cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin for payments<\/strong> was part of Russia\u2019s first crypto law, \u201cOn Digital Financial Assets,\u201d which came into force in January 2021. In the new proposal, the Bank of Russia stated:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1462\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\u201cThe Bank of Russia still does not consider cryptocurrency as a means of payment.
