However, the bill was officially vetoed by Governor Hobbs on May 2nd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"673\">In her statement, Hobbs explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"939\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"939\">\u201cToday, I vetoed Senate Bill 1025. The Arizona Retirement System is one of the strongest in the nation because it makes careful and informed investments. The retirement savings of Arizona citizens are not the place to experiment with speculative digital assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"941\" data-end=\"1064\">Despite the veto, the bill had passed its final vote in the House on April 28, with 31 votes in favor and 25 votes against.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1107\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Another_Crypto_Bill_Awaits_Final_Vote\"><\/span>Another Crypto Bill Awaits Final Vote<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1379\">Another bill, SB1373, which proposes to allocate up to 10% of Arizona\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1181\" data-end=\"1199\">rainy-day fund<\/strong> into <strong data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1223\">digital assets<\/strong> like Bitcoin, has not yet reached a final vote. This bill is closely related to the previous one and is still under consideration in the state legislature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1592\">Arizona joins other states where similar attempts have failed. Recently, similar proposals in <strong data-start=\"1475\" data-end=\"1510\">Oklahoma, Montana, South Dakota<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1516\" data-end=\"1527\">Wyoming<\/strong> were either withdrawn or failed to pass through the legislature.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1636\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Some_States_Open_to_Crypto_Investments\"><\/span>Some States Open to Crypto Investments<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1904\">Despite this setback, some states are taking a different approach. <strong data-start=\"1705\" data-end=\"1723\">North Carolina<\/strong> passed a new law on April 30 that allows the state treasurer to invest up to 5% of certain funds in <strong data-start=\"1824\" data-end=\"1853\">approved cryptocurrencies<\/strong>. The bill is now under review by the state Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"2219\">At the federal level, similar proposals are being discussed. President <strong data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2000\">Donald Trump<\/strong> and some Republican senators have proposed the creation of a <strong data-start=\"2062\" data-end=\"2093\">\u201cStrategic Bitcoin Reserve\u201d<\/strong> within the U.S. Treasury.
