Under Investigation<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"528\" data-end=\"692\">The company operated under multiple names, including <strong data-start=\"581\" data-end=\"591\">IYOVIA<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"615\">IM Mastery Academy<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"633\">iMarketsLive<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"653\">IM Academy<\/strong>\u2014collectively referred to as <strong data-start=\"682\" data-end=\"692\">\u201cIML.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"906\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/system\/files\/ftc_gov\/pdf\/RedactedComplaint.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According<\/a> to the <strong data-start=\"711\" data-end=\"718\">FTC<\/strong>, IML offered educational programs in <strong data-start=\"756\" data-end=\"774\">cryptocurrency<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"776\" data-end=\"794\">binary options<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"796\" data-end=\"805\">forex<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"828\">stock trading<\/strong>, but allegedly misrepresented the <strong data-start=\"863\" data-end=\"885\">potential earnings<\/strong> from these ventures.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"940\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_Are_They_Being_Sued\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"912\" data-end=\"940\">Why Are They Being Sued?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"942\" data-end=\"1253\">The complaint states that IML claimed its sales representatives could earn up to <strong data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1045\">$750,000 per month<\/strong>. However, internal data reportedly showed that most salespeople either <strong data-start=\"1117\" data-end=\"1131\">lost money<\/strong> or earned <strong data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1157\">very little<\/strong>. In fact, those earning under <strong data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1196\">$500<\/strong> in 2022 made an average of just <strong data-start=\"1229\" data-end=\"1239\">$77.51<\/strong> for the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1255\" data-end=\"1547\">The company operated under a <strong data-start=\"1284\" data-end=\"1315\">multi-level marketing (MLM)<\/strong> model, encouraging participants to promote IML\u2019s financial training services to others. The <a href=\"https:\/\/coinengineer.net\/blog\/sec-and-cftc-new-step-in-crypto-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1415\">FTC<\/strong> <\/a>noted that IML particularly targeted <strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1474\">young individuals<\/strong> interested in crypto, running ads on <strong data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1546\">college social media platforms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1549\" data-end=\"1635\">The agency says IML has defrauded consumers of around <strong data-start=\"1603\" data-end=\"1619\">$1.2 billion<\/strong> since <strong data-start=\"1626\" data-end=\"1634\">2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1730\"><strong data-start=\"1637\" data-end=\"1662\">Christopher Mufarrige<\/strong>, Director of the <strong data-start=\"1680\" data-end=\"1719\">FTC\u2019s Bureau of Consumer Protection<\/strong>, stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1731\" data-end=\"2038\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1733\" data-end=\"2038\">\u201cThe scale of this scam is astounding. From bogus income claims to so-called investment trainers who were really just salespeople, every part of this scheme caused serious harm to consumers\u2014especially young people trying to make a living.
