This rise was largely driven by the integration of major mining pools, including Foundry and SpiderPool.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"523\" data-end=\"784\">As a result, the network\u2019s <strong data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"599\">hash power surpassed 740 exahashes per second<\/strong>, even exceeding the total Bitcoin network hash rate recorded in October 2024. This growth phase is seen as a sign that Rootstock has entered a \u201cmature stage\u201d in terms of merged mining.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"988\">The heightened network security also led to a <strong data-start=\"832\" data-end=\"864\">60% drop in transaction fees<\/strong>, significantly improving user experience and positioning Rootstock more competitively within the Bitcoin Layer-2 landscape.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"990\" data-end=\"1031\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"TVL_Decline_and_Reduced_User_Activity\"><\/span>TVL Decline and Reduced User Activity<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1378\">Despite the strengthened miner support, <strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1120\">Rootstock&#8217;s DeFi sector faced a drop in TVL<\/strong>. Bitcoin-denominated TVL fell by 7.2%, while USD-denominated TVL dropped by 20%, reaching <strong data-start=\"1211\" data-end=\"1229\">$179.9 million<\/strong> by the end of Q1. This came after a brief peak of $244.6 million in January, fueled by a Bitcoin price rally, but momentum slowed from March onward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1580\">Ethereum\u2019s DeFi ecosystem also experienced similar pressure, with a <strong data-start=\"1448\" data-end=\"1470\">27% decline in TVL<\/strong> during the same period, largely impacted by macroeconomic uncertainty and the <strong data-start=\"1549\" data-end=\"1579\">$1.4 billion Bybit exploit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1582\" data-end=\"1828\">In the stablecoin market on Rootstock, USDt remained the leading token with $3.8 million in volume, though its dominance <strong data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"1734\">dropped from 41.3% to 27.5%<\/strong>. By the end of the quarter, <strong data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"1812\">no stablecoin held more than 30% market share<\/strong> on the network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1830\" data-end=\"2031\">User engagement also waned, with <strong data-start=\"1863\" data-end=\"1894\">active addresses down 26.5%<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"1934\">new addresses plunging by 54.7%<\/strong>. However, daily transaction volume <strong data-start=\"1970\" data-end=\"1991\">inched up by 4.3%<\/strong>, averaging 11,524 transactions per day.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2033\" data-end=\"2077\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ongoing_Development_and_Ecosystem_Growth\"><\/span>Ongoing Development and Ecosystem Growth<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2079\" data-end=\"2222\">On the technical front, Rootstock rolled out its <strong data-start=\"2128\" data-end=\"2152\">Lovell 7.0.0 upgrade<\/strong>, enhancing EVM compatibility and boosting smart contract performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2466\">The network also expanded with integrations of <strong data-start=\"2271\" data-end=\"2284\">LayerZero<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2289\" data-end=\"2306\">Meson Finance<\/strong>, and introduced new initiatives for developers, including <strong data-start=\"2365\" data-end=\"2379\">hackathons<\/strong>, incentive programs, and governance improvements via the RootstockCollective platform.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2763\">Commenting on Bitcoin&#8217;s DeFi future, <strong data-start=\"2505\" data-end=\"2524\">Alexei Zamyatin<\/strong>, co-founder of the Layer-2 project Build on Bitcoin, noted on May 1 that the first company to deliver a <strong data-start=\"2629\" data-end=\"2680\">user-friendly suite of DeFi products on Bitcoin<\/strong> could potentially capture the attention of the blockchain\u2019s <strong data-start=\"2741\" data-end=\"2762\">300 million users<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2763\"><em>You can also freely share your thoughts and comments about the topic in the comment section.
