    FHFA Chairman Bill Pulte called this development \u201ca historic day for Bitcoin<\/strong><\/a> and the mortgage industries.\u201d Pulte thanked President Trump<\/a><\/strong>, crediting him for making America the crypto capital. FHFA only considers digital assets held on regulated exchanges with verifiable ownership documentation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Previously, crypto investors<\/strong> had to convert their assets into dollars before applying for a loan. This new regulation allows investors to apply for mortgage loans without liquidating their crypto<\/strong> holdings. The move boosts crypto adoption for both individual and institutional players. FHFA<\/strong> can now directly measure the applicant\u2019s financial strength through properly documented digital assets. The decision does not specify which cryptocurrencies<\/strong><\/a> are accepted but requires assets to be held on legally compliant, U.S.-regulated centralized<\/strong> exchanges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    After significant studying, and in keeping with President Trump\u2019s vision to make the United States the crypto capital of the world, today I ordered the Great Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to prepare their businesses to count cryptocurrency as an asset for a mortgage.<\/p>\n
