The company plans to achieve this through the issuance of Class A common stock, preferred stock, debt securities, warrants, or a combination of these securities.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">According to the SEC filing, this method provides Bakkt with flexibility to raise funds gradually based on market conditions. The proceeds will be used not only for Bitcoin purchases but also for crypto treasury initiatives and institutional needs.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As of June 2025, <strong>Bakkt updated<\/strong> its investment policy to allow the use of cash reserves, debt issuance, or securities sales for digital asset acquisitions. However, the company has not yet made any crypto purchases.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Joining_the_Institutional_Bitcoin_Holders\"><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Joining the Institutional Bitcoin Holders\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bakkt plans to buy approximately <strong>9,364 BTC<\/strong> at an average price of <strong>$106,800<\/strong> per Bitcoin, aiming to enter the top 10 institutional BTC holders. This amount would surpass <strong>Coinbase\u2019s reserves<\/strong> and place Bakkt in 9th position.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Currently, Michael Saylor\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/coinengineer.net\/blog\/microstrategy-strategy-announces-latest-bitcoin-purchase-2\/\">MicroStrategy<\/a> leads the list with <strong>592,345 BTC<\/strong>, followed by Marathon Digital with 49,678 BTC, XXI with 37,230 BTC, Riot Platforms with 19,225 BTC, and <strong>Galaxy Digital<\/strong> with 12,830 BTC. After Tesla and Hut 8 Mining Corp, Bakkt\u2019s potential BTC acquisition will secure it a notable spot.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">CEO Akshay Naheta stated that this move will accelerate Bakkt\u2019s full transformation into a crypto infrastructure company. Founded in 2018 by Intercontinental Exchange, Bakkt initially offered physically settled Bitcoin futures.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe goal of this initiative is to support Bakkt\u2019s full transition into a crypto infrastructure firm and strategically add Bitcoin and other digital assets to our treasury.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Bakkt previously failed to gain traction in crypto futures but pivoted to crypto custody and loyalty programs. In 2021, it went public via a <strong>SPAC<\/strong> merger and focused on digital asset infrastructure.
