Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte<\/strong> accused Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell<\/strong> of lying<\/strong> to Congress. Pulte called on lawmakers to immediately launch an investigation into Powell. He also stated that Powell \u201clied\u201d<\/strong> while describing the renovation projects at the Fed\u2019s headquarters. Pulte accused Powell of political bias and said Congress<\/strong> should take this into consideration.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pulte\u2019s allegations revolve around the planned modernization project of the Fed\u2019s nearly century-old headquarters. Powell had stated that the building would not include \u201cVIP dining rooms, new marble, private elevators, or rooftop gardens.\u201d However, documents submitted to the National Capital Planning Commission clearly show \u201clandscaped and occupiable rooftop terraces\u201d as part of the plan.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The contradictions in Powell\u2019s statements are not limited to architectural details. FHFA Director Pulte<\/strong> emphasizes that the Fed\u2019s interest rate<\/strong><\/a> policies have severely damaged the housing market.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In a statement shared on X , Pulte said:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u201cThis is nothing but abuse of power and warrants removal \u2018for cause.\u2019 Federal Reserve Chair Powell must be immediately investigated by Congress. You have cost the U.S. a fortune. And you continue to do so.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Pulte stated that the Fed\u2019s renovation project created an image of an out-of-touch and luxury-focused institution. He stressed that this approach undermines public trust. \u201cThis is nothing but negligence of duty and should be considered \u2018for cause\u2019 grounds for Powell\u2019s removal,\u201d he said. He also mentioned that the Fed was \u201ctoo late\u201d in lowering interest rates. Furthermore, he said these statements alone justify Powell\u2019s removal \u201cfor cause.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
