The FTX Hacker moved the stolen funds 10 months later. The identity and specific techniques used by the perpetrator continued to remain a mystery in the multi-million dollar hack case before the sudden transfers.<\/p>\n

According to data from Arkham Intelligence<\/strong><\/a>, the FTX<\/strong><\/a> hacker, who owns over $300 million in assets, first moved on September 30th, 10 months later. The address still owns 12.5K ETH. A total of $8 million was transferred on September 30 through the Railgun privacy wallet and Thorchain.<\/p>\n

Arkham’s data revealed two transactions in which the hacker transferred 2,500 ETH<\/strong>, each transaction was worth $4 million. The FTX breach occurred on November 11, 2022, shortly after FTX filed for bankruptcy and following the departure of its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.<\/p>\n

During this incident, the unknown attacker managed to leak over $600 million<\/strong> worth of Ether, briefly becoming the 35th largest holder of Ethereum.<\/p>\n

Initially, the hacker deposited the stolen coins into CoinMixer<\/strong>, an anonymous Bitcoin mixing service designed to make it difficult to track on-chain Bitcoin transfers.<\/p>\n

To further obfuscate the tracking of funds, the asset chose various swaps and bridge transfers.<\/p>\n

Following the event, famous on-chain detective ZackXBT speculated that after withdrawing from the mixer, the hacker likely transferred these funds to the crypto exchange OKX<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
