In an interview with CNBC, Atkins revealed that the SEC does not officially view Ethereum as a security. He emphasized that the Commission treats Ethereum similarly to Bitcoin\u2014as a commodity<\/strong>. This statement supports the growing institutional interest in Ethereum.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chairman Atkins highlighted Ethereum\u2019s central role in the crypto sector and pointed out its importance as foundational infrastructure for the layer-2 ecosystem. He reaffirmed that securities laws do not apply to Ethereum. While the official stance is yet to be finalized, the SEC \u201cunofficially\u201d does not consider ETH a security.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
